I couldn’t find a thread, so I thought I’d start one.

Tonight was episode 2/4 and it’s presented by Tim Spector.

My first impression is that I really miss Michael Moseley.

They appear to have found a couple in their mid 60’s that live on pies and wine. They are trying to get them to reduce UPF but that appears to be the least of their issues really.

Tjere was an interesting point about chopping certain vegetables and leaving them 15 minutes to allow them to release some chemical that improves heart health. I’ll be looking into that.

How did they not know that that much chocolate for the kids and pot noodles for the kids is a crap
diet ?

I thought it was just the parents eating the chocolate once the kids had gone to bed? And only the dad eating the pot noodles? Not the kids as well.

No, the son was starting to copy the dad wanting pot noodles.

TitsInAbsentia · 16/01/2026 15:26

Didn't realise this was on, not keen on Spector but will give it a go!

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/01/2026 15:46

Kids had a ‘junk box’ each for chocolate and sweets they they had constant access too.

They both had so 4 bars a a night - 28 bars a week

Yep 2000 calories a night each… in chocolate. Do people not read packets?

Stickywhitelovepiss · 16/01/2026 17:41

I have done the ZOE trial, listened to the podcast back to front, and all but quit UPF after reading all of Spector and van Tulleken's book - so I am secretly feeling a bit smug watching this...

Respect for Spector - but I'd much rather have a meal out with Michael Mosley (RIP), Professor Nut or better still Giles Yao (recommend the episode he did on DOAC). All eminently personable and with a healthy sense of proportion about things - while Spector strikes me as very much a purist.

That said, I definitely had a hankering for a pot noodle after episode 1!

Chrysanthemum5 · 16/01/2026 18:36

I just watched episode 1 and I genuinely thought they had set that family up to fail by immediately moving them to cooking three meals per day. That seemed too big a change and unfair. But the family worked hard and found a way to make it feasible for them and I was really impressed.

So delighted for them that their health improved so much

FurForksSake · 16/01/2026 18:39

I hope they show how they are getting on in 3/6/12 months.

I thought the noodles in the bath were pointless and disgusting - though I suppose that was the point.

I couldn't concentrate on the rest of the show due to wondering how long it would take the Crew to sieve them all out again 🤢

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/01/2026 08:26

I think all the food /drink showing is pointless and a waste of money

noodles wine beige food

why happens to it once cooked ? What a waste of money

Prob 5 mins. Not long

FurForksSake · 17/01/2026 09:00

@Blondeshavemorefun I’m pretty sure the wine was water with food colouring. I still haven’t watched the first episode!

However, I do absolutely agree with you, they could use ai or vr to have the same impact without the waste.

I would only watch to revel in all the reasons I don't like Tim Spector.
I couldn't enjoy disliking MM, so I suppose TS is more entertaining.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/01/2026 19:28

ts or mm?

FurForksSake · 17/01/2026 19:30

@Blondeshavemorefun Tim Spector or Michael Moseley

@Blondeshavemorefun Tim Spector or Michael Moseley

Yes but who are they ?

FurForksSake · 17/01/2026 20:29

Tim Spector was the presenter, he owns (I believe) the health company Zoe. dr Michael Moseley was the present of a lot of c4s popular science programmes around eating. He wrote the fast 800 books and plans. He sadly passed away when he was on holiday in Greece, I say last year but it could have been longer ago.

AI uses LOADS of water btw. So it wouldn’t really help to do that.

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/01/2026 09:40

E3 tonight

what is found in a foods that we eat every day like breakfast cereals and what is in some supermarket chicken nuggets?

I dread to think about the Nuggets I only buy hundred percent chicken breast ones.

SwedishEdith · 20/01/2026 20:11

This family eat shit but, clearly, they're emphasising the worst for the programme.

SwedishEdith · 20/01/2026 20:21

I don't really get the squeamishness about eating parts of an animal "you'd rather not". If it's going to be killed, I think we owe it to eat as much of it as possible. And if blitzing it up makes it go further, that's not a persuasive argument for me to not eat it. And chicken skin is delicious.
