I couldn’t find a thread, so I thought I’d start one.

Tonight was episode 2/4 and it’s presented by Tim Spector.

My first impression is that I really miss Michael Moseley.

They appear to have found a couple in their mid 60’s that live on pies and wine. They are trying to get them to reduce UPF but that appears to be the least of their issues really.

Tjere was an interesting point about chopping certain vegetables and leaving them 15 minutes to allow them to release some chemical that improves heart health. I’ll be looking into that.

Chicken skin is also very nutritious and great source of bio available collagen.

I often chop liver and heart into tiny pieces and hide it in beef mince. No-one in the family has ever noticed!

soupyspoon · 20/01/2026 20:33

I use chicken skin quite a lot

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/01/2026 20:34

Chicken skin isn’t good for my diet 😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/01/2026 20:38

Her breakfast is a days calories

soupyspoon · 20/01/2026 20:45

Ive just started watching it, I love the burger and the pizza in the opening clips!

Yum!

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/01/2026 20:48

Cute dog. Love that breed as their little ginger eyebrows

MercyChant66 · 20/01/2026 20:54

Just going back to last week's episode when such a fuss was made about the wine consumption (although admittedly the alcohol units weren't discussed just the sugar and sulphites) - did anyone else notice that they drank 3 bottles of wine a week so that's 'only' 1.5 each which I think is just about within the recommended 14 units depending on strength. But not good, I suppose!

soupyspoon · 20/01/2026 21:04

God he is infuriating me with the 'disgusting' comment about chicken skin.

This is why we have a crap food culture in this country as well, people being childish about all parts of the animal, go to markets and supermarkets in europe and see all the parts of the animal

He should concentrate on the non food additives to the food, not the animal parts themselves.

I think he said he only had 1 glass though and she just kept drinking through the evening

I think she said she loved her wine and he said he could stop at one glass or something. So I think she was drinking the bulk of it.

Such a contrast to the recent Jamie Oliver programme in which he said that chicken skin is good to eat!

Fwiw, I agree with TS tonight that they look disgusting and I wouldn't knowingly eat them.

soupyspoon · 20/01/2026 21:14

So this episode as well leaves me with the feeling that IM not sure Im convinced of the lack of information that people have about food

The mum is a MH SW, so she will know about how nutrition impacts on mental and physical health and the interplay between mental and physical health

She has a long standing diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis and so must have been talked through what foods are more inflammatory than others?

Similarly her son having ASD, she will have been told about what foods can support behavioural challenges for him, or perhaps not actually just saying that

Chicken skin is good to eat.

Actually Im a bit confused, I think Im on two threads about the exact same thing.

TheatreTheatre · 20/01/2026 21:40

Tonight’s episode: that lad’s skin improved no end after switching to the new diet!

LOL at the wholesome wooden crates that the new diet gets delivered in , while the UPFs get evicted in the plastic boxes of shame

Yes surely she would know better

soupyspoon · 20/01/2026 21:43

So Im just on the bit where they go for their results, and the mum has lost well over a stone and 7 inches off her waist and she says 'oh I didnt realise that'

If I was doing some experiment for telly I'd be interested to know what was going on in that 6 weeks, Id probably be on the scales every day and how do you not notice 7 inches coming off her waist, her trousers must be falling down!!

💯💯

But good on her.

They all looked much better at the end

SwedishEdith · 20/01/2026 21:55

They definitely ramped up the bad elements of their diet at the start but there's no way anyone doesn't know this stuff now. The lad definitely looked better though.

That’s genius. Just don’t do it to a pregnant person please - the vitamin A in liver can cause miscarriage.

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/01/2026 22:34

Yes you would def know lost 7inches

they glossed over the daughter - yes she’s not obese anymore

so means she’s now overweight so bmi 25/29 but they didn’t say what she had lost

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/01/2026 22:34

Next weeks looks good. I love crisps

Not anyone pregnant here! Just two teen DS and DH. With liver you have to be conservative, otherwise the taste will push through but ox heart is much blander and mixes well with beef mince.

I was surprised to see a punnet of raspberries there. Raspberries are high in oxalates, I wouldn’t recommend them to someone who suffers from arthritis.

14 units is the recommended maximum. Not the recommended amount. Any alcohol is bad for you and damages your DNA, brain, liver and kidneys, ages your skin, diverts metabolism causing fat storage, depresses mood etc etc

I have RA, I've literally never been given any dietary advice whatsoever. Similarly, my DS is diagnosed ND. Again, never been offered any dietary advice.

Who exactly is it you think are 'talking people through' what foods they should eat?
