The last thread filled up quickly! (2 weeks!) Shows Coronation Street is gaining popularity again. (It has improved quite a bit lately!)

R.I.P. Billy Mayhew.

Todd continues to be manipulated by Theo, Summer has done some stellar sobbing (that's brought me to tears!) and it seems there's no-one to help poor Todd.

Not much has been seen of The Driscolls for a while. after the tragedy around Corriedale, and Billy the vicar dying. (I'm sure they're about somewhere!)

Lisa (Swain) is being manipulated by Undead Becky now, (from prison) and she's threatening to 'take her down with her' if she doesn't have her back! Not sure Carla wants Lisa back anyway after Lisa slept with Becky!

Poor Debbie is all over the place, trying desperately to defend evil Carl who has stolen from her, cheated on Abi, and caused all kinds of destruction with a car, (twice - and both times he's got away with it!)

Shona and David's new baby is in hospital for a while after being born prematurely, and Shona's sister has appeared suddenly! I guess we'll learn more about her, and why she and Shona have not seen each other for some years.

Sorry if I've left anything out. I'm sure we'll all catch up soon.

80s yes Dev is married to Bernie. I like them individually but don't find their partnership believable!

Theo typically making the eulogy all about 'me me me'. He should have read Todd’s words. Todd’s face during that was pure loathing. Billy’s death has made him take a lot less shit from Theo (so far anyway) it’s nice to see old Todd.

Way too much shifty ginnel action and blackmailing and counter-blackmailing. As if Billy’s funeral wasn’t drama enough.

Who would win in a fight, Theo or Carl? Hard to decide.🙃

I think Gemma was responsible for the OTT bad singing. Why they thought this wouldn't be massively jarring, I can't imagine. And yes, an insultingly small congregation. Insulting to the viewers, I mean. The funeral of a 90-year-old I attended recently had a much better turnout, and she was childless and unmarried, with all her immediate family dead.

Why did Bernie suddenly turn on Dev like that? Did he do something bad but so fast I missed it? She was awful to him and they've only been married 5 mins.

I think she wanted to get drunk but he wouldn’t let her.

A drunken Bernie with a wonky bun would have been ok. Gemma with food in both hands every time the camera was on her was not a pretty sight however.

I don't think it was just that Dev didn't want Bernie to get drunk. He has been badgering her for a while about 'showing her feelings, it's not just Summer who is suffering' etc, when Bernie clearly wants to grieve in her own way. And he won't let her.

Me thinks she will go on a downward spiral maybe go back to her druggie days? Her and Dev are so unsuited never understood why they put them together. Theo is going to turn very nasty and I reckon out the two of them he’s the worst! Agree funeral was very understated hardly anyone there for the local vicar who was everyone’s friend!

What the flip was that weird fake robbery about? They got three grand... Why did Carl stage this?

Yeah, the robbery was ridiculously convoluted, as if it had been engineered for Theo to catch Carl out for the added beef. He could far more easily have pocketed the three grand and made out Debbie had lost it. He must have twigged by now that she'd cover for him, even if she didn't buy the story.

I agree the 'robbery' doesn't make sense. Carl could have pocketed the money, Debbie has dementia so her memory is unreliable and he could have told her any tale. Did he just want the chance to scare and thump Ryan?

(I think Carl would win in a fight. Underneath it all, Theo is coward.)

I’m thinking the robbery was meant to put Ryan in Carl’s debt for “saving” him? He knows Ryan is suspicious of him and wants to shut him down. But yes, it’s ridiculous that Theo just happened to see Carl with the robbers only a day after Carl oh-so-coincidentally overheard his confession.

Gemma was supposed to really care about Billy. Why did they have to wheel out the tired old cliche of her using any occasion as an excuse to grab free food and booze?

Gemma didn't seem particularly upset did she? You would think it would bring it all back about her own twin Paul dying recently.

I meant to say I agree that there were not enough people at the church. It would have been packed with his parishioners and other clergy, as well as more of his friends on the Street. And I haven't been to many church funerals (mainly the crem) but I have never heard anyone applaud a speech!

She really is a boring one dimensional character.

Her mum is a bit rough round the edges too but at least there are different sides to her.

She was vile to Dev yesterday and often on other occasions but you could see her side to it

I could honestly live without Gemma too. I wish she would be written out. She needs to leave, and take the hardly-ever-present, elusive quads with her!

I can see Bernie having bit of a burn out /, breakdown situation.

She tries to be strong for so many people but she doesn't really have anyone there for her .

Dev does things ...but he doesn't listen to her and what she is saying.

Gemma needs to fucking grow up and eat with her mouth closed like all her children have been taught to !!

Bernie is clearly on the edge, but Dev needs to calm down and stop fussing around her or he's going to push her right over the edge!
