Dropping both episodes on iPlayer on 1st Jan has just been confusing! I was expecting episode 2 to be on TV the day after or something.
Anyway, now it's been shown, there shouldn't be any spoilers, and hopefully episode 3 will only be on iPlayer next Sunday.
It does feel like a poor rehash of the first series. There just isn't the charisma.
I also question Pine's ability to do all this spy stuff, not just because he hasn't been trained, but he's been doing the nightshift for many years where he just watches surveillance footage (it seems).
What kind of nonsense was it to start jumping about the place, and who on earth would go along with it?
I was thinking about this today, and concluded that the two new antagonists are too young to really be having anything to do with Pine, other than take advantage of some middle aged bloke who thinks he's "got it". I'm not talking about the actors' ages, but how they're presented in this, and how they come across.
In series 1, Pine blended in with Roper and his gang a lot better. Here he just stands out.
I'll probably see this through to the end, unless it gets any worse, but I won't be coming back for the third series.
