The trailer for the second series of The Night Manager has been released.

The first episode is set to air on 1 January 2026!

Anyone else can't wait for this? All the talk over the years about a second series and it's almost here!

And Series 3 has been given the greenlight, too.

SORT OF SPOILER DONT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT

Just watched the last episode. Furious. Feel incredibly let down, I don't need such nastiness to be seen to win in my life. Won't be watching series 3.

I find it interesting that Teddy is getting so much love both here and on social media as in the first couple of episodes we weren't keen on Teddy at all.

Well yes
He had rather big daddy issues but he also murdered lots of innocent people and was planning more
Rather predictable that he couldn't kill daddy and daddy killed him tbh...

I had no love for Teddy. Like father like son.

sleepwouldbenice · 03/02/2026 21:26

Totally agree that ropers son will turn against him, at the very end of series 3, possibly even kill him.
Has to happen as its the only thing Roper cares about so is the ultimate revenge he deserves for all the pain he has caused.
Possibly with him going off with mummy

TheEverlastingPorridge · 03/02/2026 22:17

Roper's son had a real hardness about him, I think it was that and not NJ being a wooden actor.

He was definitely cut from the same cloth as his father.

DearestItIsSnowing · 03/02/2026 23:51

The dogs, I mean why shoot the dogs. Because Roper is a psychopath. I thought that was a chilling moment and reminded us what Pine is dealing with.

It was also telling that Teddy was referred to as a puppy (did I dream that?) and that when Roper was driving Danny R asked D about some (more) dogs.

DearestItIsSnowing · 04/02/2026 00:29

The top paragraph in my post at 23:51

was quoted from @LittleBitofBread 's post. My apologies for missing that out: it's too late to edit it.

Cheeseisneeded · 04/02/2026 06:19

Teddy also said " Im just one of his dogs"

I shrieked and said Omg Ropers going to kill him and DH was 🤔

Haha smug !

If there’s going to be an even bigger villain than Roper, my
money’s on Charles Dance to play him*

  • (I can’t see it being a her. It wouldn’t ring true that the Libyans or Roper would fall into line)

Charles Dance as Mountbatten in The Crown gave me the shivers. Really sinister.

I remember him in The Jewel in The Crown. (1984)

Tonissister · 02/02/2026 14:58

He was. You are right. The body count at the end got so numerous. And the next series won't be set in Colombia, so no chance of reviving him, though I bet Basil and Colman might still be alive. I reckon the one supposedly beating Basil up /killing him off may actually be on his side, since Myra was never in the room when the beating took place.

Ooh, I hadn’t thought of that! You’ve given me hope. I loved Basil.

Theonebutnotonly · 07/02/2026 18:30

RichardOnslowRoper · 03/02/2026 11:46

I think they may be divorced, as in S 1 Angela let slip "It's not his fault I don't love him".
I honestly think Angela's character was terrible this season. Letting Roper go because you are being threatened? Cmon! But then not getting security in France, when Mayra actually threatened her?
Baffling.

The review in The Times said her death was sad, but "at least it puts Olivia Colman’s northern accent out of its misery"! Rather harsh, I thought!

TheatreTheatre · 07/02/2026 20:30

I too wonder about Basil …

Yes, Aye Up Angela's accent was most definitely as shocking as her demise.

Hermyknee · 07/02/2026 21:45

Where was her accent supposed to be from?

NunsOnTheRum · 08/02/2026 08:35

In the Le Carré book Leonard Burr was working class and provincial but I don’t recall Le Carré saying which particular region of England he originated from. I think Angela Burr’s accent is ‘northern’, a bit Yorkshire a bit Mancunian. That’s why it’s so grating.

Lobbygobbler · 08/02/2026 09:16

I am good at placing northern accents but I can’t put my finger on Olivia Coleman’s. May not be her fault because she will have a voice coach and to be honest I’d rather she has a stab at it so we see northern characters on screen than for them to not bother.

Gloriia · 08/02/2026 09:16

Hermyknee · 07/02/2026 21:45

It's a bit of a northern medley.

TheatreTheatre · 07/02/2026 20:30

I too wonder about Basil …

We never saw Basil die, just heard a gunshot.

When they were trying to reach Basil online in the last episode, Angela replied saying he was "unavailable".

And when Angela was with Myra in the library, she mentioned her having had Rex killed but said nothing about Basil....

🤔

DearestItIsSnowing · 08/02/2026 19:45

My friend’s accent is ‘a bit Northern’ as she grew up in Yorkshire and Lancashire, but has lived in the South East for a long time.

Maybe Olivia Coleman’s accent is subtly suggesting someone who moved around a lot when she was growing up. Unsettled background.

No, I don’t believe that really, but it’s just possible given what a good actress she normally is.

QuenchedSquirrel · 10/02/2026 12:25

I don't rate OC much as an actress, however she was brilliant in series 1.

But!

I had no idea that she was supposed to be a northerner!

She was completely miscast in the Crown, and could barely keep to that accent either.

Maybe there’ll be a showdown and Jonathan will tell Danny that Roper shot his other son. Roper won’t deny it and will just say sadly it was necessary. That will persuade Danny that Roper is evil.

Thats my prediction anyway! I like to see justice winning in the end.

I agree, she is very one note as an actress. Also miscast as the queen. There’s something slightly bolshy and rebellious ( but also self doubting) about her persona, which wasn’t the queen at all.

MayIDestroyYou · 10/02/2026 20:13

Oh, I don’t agree at all about her being a one note actress.

She was perfect in The Favourite.

Entirely believable in The Lost Daughter

And utterly mesmerising in the tiny part she had in The Bear.

All completely different and distinct characters.

I quite liked her in this, despite silly accent.

She was oddly miscast in The Roses - but that was a bad film, anyway.
