Following on from the last thread, that started in late April 2024.

Joel's the baddie, and Lauren is still missing
Roy's a free man, and Carla and Swain are close to kissing
Will Bethany quit moaning, she does it all the time!
Sarah is still hot, but needs to slow down on the wine

Leanne's missing too, has that cult bloke kidnapped her then?
And where are the quads, does anyone ever see them?
Paul's still alive, hanging on and on in there
Cop Kit's a bit tasty but a bit annoying and hard to bear

Not much with the Platts or the Barlows or The Rovers
Carla's pub money being stolen by Jenny and Daisy has been glossed over
Adam still has his wacky hair that's a bit greasy
Daniel's still boring, yet the cutest girls to him come easy

The school bully storyline has eased off a bit
So Maria can chill - and Sarah can get off with Kit
I hope it's OK for me to start this new thread my friends
I wonder where we'll be at when this thread ends? Smile

I often feel that when certain characters are involved in long running storylines, they kind of get rested for a while to give them a break maybe?

AmusedMaker · 02/08/2024 13:04

Oops. Not sure why I posted twice.

Shellingbynight · 02/08/2024 13:58

Yes they do often get a big storyline then disappear. But some more than others!

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 02/08/2024 14:28

Sean was behind the bar sometime in the last fortnight, (around the time Mason and that storyline / character reappeared) as I didn't realise the pub could afford all these staff and thought everyone was laid off at one point
I also hadn't totally realised her with the quads still had her job there too.

WiddlinDiddlin · 02/08/2024 14:39

Yes, they cycle round sets of characters trying to give everyone a decent amount of work across a year, and fit in breaks, sometimes other work...

It didn't used to be quite so noticable as it is these days and I think they are doing it more and using fewer actors in each particular storyline, basically to save money.

Allthehorsesintheworld · 31/07/2024 21:04

what was on the box Joel had?

Can't remember the name of it, but I believe it's a drug to induce Lauren's childbirth.

Shellingbynight · 02/08/2024 16:35

I missed an episode so that must have been the one when Sean was working in the Rovers. I agree Gemma suddenly turning up was a surprise as she hadn't been behind the bar for ages.

ArabellaFishwife · 02/08/2024 16:36

I don't know why they bothered sending Eileen to Thailand. They could have filmed a few shots of her making a cuppa in the kitchen before she went moonlighting as a nun, and she'd have been no more obviously absent than tons of regulars.

suburburban · 02/08/2024 17:52

Sally has disappeared and Sarah, not in factory scenes despite working there.

She used to,walk around with a clipboard

JewelleryCat · 02/08/2024 20:38

I quite like Bernie’s top

JewelleryCat · 02/08/2024 20:51

Why has it taken this long for the referral for the ground floor flat, why did no one do it earlier, especially since everyone knew Paul would be housebound eventually

Roryhon · 02/08/2024 22:08

I hope tJoel doesn’t get in with the baby. That really would be too much. But it seems to be access all areas for anyone.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 02/08/2024 23:30

oh ! page 40 - does someone need to start a new thread...

eggandonion · 02/08/2024 23:32

What a horrible storyline. A nice young couple with a healthy baby would be a pleasant change.

Deleted as I realised you meant something else.

Shellingbynight · 03/08/2024 07:47

I had to stop watching last night, seeing a psychopath trying to kill a teenager and her baby isn't really for me. What now, Joel tries to kill the baby.

EachandEveryone · 03/08/2024 08:45

Why didn’t she just say something in the hospital?

Roryhon · 03/08/2024 11:15

Last time!

I don’t think she knows it was anything to do with Joel though.

I have a feeling Lauren will get back with Max. I hope sshe stays around. She’s a good actress.

PrincessScarlett · 03/08/2024 11:19

That was really grim Joel trying to kill his unborn baby. I am presuming that is what he intended by inducing labour so early and locking Lauren in the flat. I hope he's caught soon as it's a horrible storyline.

PrincessScarlett · 03/08/2024 11:20

And ridiculous that Dee Dee and Joel could just waltz straight into the maternity ward when they have no connection to Lauren whatsoever 🙄

Shellingbynight · 03/08/2024 11:22

Lauren has had so many opportunities to report that he attacked her, yet she decided to live in his flat and let him 'help' her.

And then there's Jack, who has always been a lovely helpful lad, but is suddenly a keen arsonist who not only knows how to torch a car but apparently wanted to harm/kill Stefan while he was about it. I suppose he's quietly been taking tips from Abi.

Corrie writers are living in a fantasy world nowadays.

Yes it's become very unpleasant

QueenOfTheEntireFuckingUniverse · 03/08/2024 11:39

Lauren is a young, abused teenager who hasn't exactly come from a nice stable home. Reporting her abuser wouldn't be straightforward.

PrincessScarlett · 03/08/2024 11:57

Joel has already told Lauren that noone would believe someone like her over him, a respected solicitor. The baby is evidence that she might be telling the truth. The only way he will be caught out is if someone, Dee Dee, overhears him threatening Lauren and can back up her truth.

The episode with just Lauren and Joel was really good but now it's just getting a bit unnecessary and shit that he's still getting away with manipulating all these vulnerable teenagers.

Shellingbynight · 03/08/2024 12:25

I agree it would not be straightforward for Lauren to report Joel, but it's getting silly now. They have not done anything much to make us care about Lauren, we wasn't around for long and was fairly unlikeable, then she disappeared for months. Now the only person she shares scenes with regularly is Joel, also a new character who we barely know except as a psychopath. The sooner it's over the better.
