Following on from the last thread, that started in late April 2024.

Joel's the baddie, and Lauren is still missing
Roy's a free man, and Carla and Swain are close to kissing
Will Bethany quit moaning, she does it all the time!
Sarah is still hot, but needs to slow down on the wine

Leanne's missing too, has that cult bloke kidnapped her then?
And where are the quads, does anyone ever see them?
Paul's still alive, hanging on and on in there
Cop Kit's a bit tasty but a bit annoying and hard to bear

Not much with the Platts or the Barlows or The Rovers
Carla's pub money being stolen by Jenny and Daisy has been glossed over
Adam still has his wacky hair that's a bit greasy
Daniel's still boring, yet the cutest girls to him come easy

The school bully storyline has eased off a bit
So Maria can chill - and Sarah can get off with Kit
I hope it's OK for me to start this new thread my friends
I wonder where we'll be at when this thread ends? Smile

I think they photo shopped Gemma's and Chesney's faces and/or bodies or something ....but kept the quads in the photos
So Gemma had had enough.

bizzey · 26/07/2024 15:06

Ohh dear 😧!
My apostrophes are all in the wrong places I think 🤣🤣!

AlwaysGinPlease · 26/07/2024 20:27

So hard watching tonight 😔

AmusedMaker · 26/07/2024 20:33

Poor Paul, I can’t stand Billy.

Florelei · 26/07/2024 20:38

This is a hard hard watch

JewelleryCat · 26/07/2024 20:41

A very hard watch

AlwaysGinPlease · 26/07/2024 20:50

Both fantastic actors 😥

PrincessScarlett · 26/07/2024 21:04

Wow! What an episode. The scene when Todd realised Paul had chosen today to die was heartbreaking. And then in the flat when he was saying goodbye to him 😭

Billy's ridiculous orange tan is just too distracting.

Shellingbynight · 26/07/2024 21:09

I think Peter Ash has been great in this role but I have an allergy to Billy Prayerhands. I love Todd though, so great to see him getting a bit of screen time (although not enough).

I was a bit perplexed because I thought from the promos Billy was going to take Paul somewhere interesting rather than to Gemma's house.

I found it over soapy to have the assisted suicide attempt stopped at the last minute by Gemma's adorable moppets. It somehow diminished the whole very serious issue. I have a friend who has MND and she is intending to go to Switzerland.

So despite the great acting from Peter A, I did not like that. It felt like a cop out.

ArabellaFishwife · 26/07/2024 21:13

I thought the cop out might have been him spontaneously dying without assistance just after the stroke of midnight. I'm glad it wasn't that.

strugglingwithlife · 26/07/2024 21:15

So heartbreaking tonight 😭 been in floods

rainbowruthie · 26/07/2024 21:20

In absolute bits here Sad

NCTDN · 26/07/2024 21:22

Todd and Paul's acting has been great.

NCTDN · 26/07/2024 21:27

Why did Bernie tell Paul it wasn't going to be for long that he was stuck in the flat ?

Shellingbynight · 26/07/2024 21:46

@ArabellaFishwife yes I thought that too, at least they didn't go there.

Bernie said "it won't be forever" and I thought eh? But she meant because he would get an accessible property. Speaking of which, why hasn't Billy Prayerhands organised that before, he's had over a year.

rightoguvnor · 26/07/2024 21:46

I think Bernie meant that a ground floor flat would become available soon so they could move.

Oh my goodness, I am the original ice-maiden, but I found tonight very moving and may have shed a few tears ...
It was, in particular, the interaction between Paul and Todd that got me. Todd understood exactly what Paul was trying to do, and that it was goodbye.

Isn't it funny that so many of us are Todd lovers, yet find Billy harder to warm to.

Anyway, very well-done all round.

QueenOfTheEntireFuckingUniverse · 26/07/2024 22:27

Absolutely hated the filming style tonight but sobbed through most of it. Such a hard watch.

Agreed with every word of this post. 👍

Oh my goodness, all that emotion and he’s still alive! I thought it was going to be a dreadful episode at first, but it was really emotional and I bawled. I thought he was going to die in his sleep. My husband thought one of the kids were going to find it and get ill.
But now Billy has mixed the drugs up surely they can’t be used now? Couldn’t he just give them to a character we don’t like? Like Joel?
Oh and I thought the Billy actor managed that episode quite well. He’ll never be the best, but he didn’t mess it up.

AuntieMaud · 27/07/2024 00:00

I too thought Paul would pass naturally because he looked very close to dying. He's playing the role perfectly and didn't know until tonight that Rob Burrows bravely coached the actor. How terrifying and terribly sad to watch. The quads turning up to stay the night was a bit of an odd thing for the writers to throw in though.

Billy has always made me cringe but the actor was interviewed and was lovely to listen to. Just shows how a script and direction can turn a decent actor into a character we love to hate (obviously 🙄) but then there's Todd. Not sure what it is about him. He doesn't over act and has taken a back seat for a while as far as the storylines go but he's my favourite male along with Paul. Bernie for top female.

NCTDN · 27/07/2024 07:38

I didn't realise that Rob Burrows had coached him. I thought it was really cleverly done that all his thoughts were totally clear. That must be how they feel, trapped inside a broken body.

JMSA · 27/07/2024 08:41

Although it was very well done, I do feel that it would have been more fitting for him to pass away last night.
I get that real life isn't all tidy and convenient like that! But I'd rather it didn't drag on.

Shellingbynight · 27/07/2024 09:30

I agree he 'should' have died last night, in the sense that because of all that heightened drama it may now seem a bit of an anticlimax when he does.

I also loved the interactions between Paul and Todd. It's a shame Todd has not had more input in this storyline as the actor is so good, he really needs more screen time.

DaisyStarburst · 27/07/2024 09:48

I've just caught up, Peter Ash is a brilliant actor, Paul and Todd was very moving, I even felt sorry for Billy. I wonder if Paul will die naturally soon.
