Joel's the baddie, and Lauren is still missing
Roy's a free man, and Carla and Swain are close to kissing
Will Bethany quit moaning, she does it all the time!
Sarah is still hot, but needs to slow down on the wine

Leanne's missing too, has that cult bloke kidnapped her then?
And where are the quads, does anyone ever see them?
Paul's still alive, hanging on and on in there
Cop Kit's a bit tasty but a bit annoying and hard to bear

Not much with the Platts or the Barlows or The Rovers
Carla's pub money being stolen by Jenny and Daisy has been glossed over
Adam still has his wacky hair that's a bit greasy
Daniel's still boring, yet the cutest girls to him come easy

The school bully storyline has eased off a bit
So Maria can chill - and Sarah can get off with Kit
I hope it's OK for me to start this new thread my friends

I've just googled - Jack is only meant to be 13! I thought he was much older than that! The lad playing him is 17..

Jack is really tall but at least facially he doesn't look 25 like Mason! He nearly 14 but I thought Molly Dobbs was longer ago than that, she seems like ancient history.

Can some bugger not just tell bloody Gemma and Ches that they're entitled to benefits. How this would have escaped their notice is anyone's guess. They'd have been signposted by the Health Visitor from the get-go.

This drives me nuts. It's so improbable that someone has never mentioned/explained benefit entitlement to them.

Everyone on reddit said I’m talking out of my back side saying that Chesney etc would
be entitled to over a grand in benefits. They said that Gemma works full time and has to pay for four lots of child care. I do not beleive that anyone in that pub is working there full time it must be haemorrhaging money. They also said her mother will be paying rent but according to entitled to not if she’s family. I’m over thinking this I think 😀😀

Chesney works full time in the Kebab shop.
Gemma works part time in the pub.
Bernie doesn't live there, she lives with Dev, but I doubt she would pay rent and I really doubt she could claim housing benefit for it.

They don't appear to claim anything but should be getting rent, council tax and UC would top up income, plus child allowance, (Wouldn't Ches get some for Jerrrrrrrsif and Gemma would get for the quads) and some for childcare too surely, by now... Plus one of the quads is disabled (does he count, cochlear implant...).

Still not sure where they all actually sleep, we're meant to imagine at least three bedrooms but unlike some of the other houses in that row, theirs doesn't have a front groundfloor bedroom (Kens does for example) - but all 4 quads in one room, realllllly?

Gemma would get a fair whack of benefits, but benefits are never mentioned on any soap, not even (in fact, especially) when someone is struggling. She does a few shifts in the Rovers, but this week is the first time we've seen her behind the bar in ages. It's been either Daisy or (endlessly) Glenda.

Agree about the benefits. 5 kids and not working. She would get loads! Chesney has the kebab shop but I bet that barely breaks even, and the wage he pays himself won't be much, (Not bashing people on benefits by the way, someone with 5 kids would need loads!)

It's very silly, making out she hasn't got more than a thrupenny bit in her purse at any one time. And she couldn't pay £40 for a new pair of shoes. I know it's no picnic on benefits, but most people would be able to afford to clothe their children, even with the most basic things.

Then there would be grants and concessions and places she could get second hand shoes and clothes, and school uniforms, and she may get various grants and vouchers. There would be food banks, and various organisations that would assist. They may even qualify for free school meals.

Also, what happened to all the publicity they got for having the rarity that is quads? Why did the press lose interest when the quads were less than a year old?!

Disappointed they are doing the Paul story tonight when it clashes with the opening ceremony of the OG.

Just to let you know that it's on ITVx now if you can watch before the ceremony. I'm watching now as came across it accidentally whilst I've a couple of hours free. It's a tough watch (no spoiler as we knew it would be) and Peter Ash deserves all of the TV awards available.

Sorry. I shouldn’t have assumed. They did announce it before and after each episode this week though. They also advertised it in the commercial breaks.

Sorry it's been advertised widely. There still might be more episodes with Paul, but this is just about him.

I mute the TV before an episode starts and don't watch adverts so clearly missed it. Oh well.

I'm only halfway through so again, no spoilers. Just saying it's emotional as we'd expect, knowing it was coming and planned on the tv schedule.

Can we just not discuss what might happen, announcements, FB spoilers etc until after it's been shown on TV.

I was annoyed to hear about it on FIL's telly. I have everything bar the programme itself muted, and don't watch much other ITV content at all. I stuck my fingers in my ears and la-la-la-ed a bit, but DH started talking about it later on.

@HeySummerWhereAreYou Ches only manages the Kebab shop, it's Dev's shop so he'll be paid at least min wage and the amount of time he's there, he has to be full time.

I would think there'd be free school meals for the quads and some supermarket vouchers for the holidays (I don't think all schools do that now but it'd be accurate for a scruffy area of Manchester!).

The quads being used for advertising (for Freshco's I think?) ended when Gemma got fed up of it, they were asking more and more and trying to make Gemma, Ches and the kid out to be people they were not, in order to 'sell' it better.
