The Christmas special was horrible, I really hated what they did with Nessa's character.
Hopefully they can pull it back with this.

It will be Smithy and Nessas wedding I reckon. James Corden is insufferable but I adore Gavin and Stacey and I'm very excited.

Why did you feel it was a disaster? I watched it and couldn't quite decide if I liked it or not. There were some lovely bits but also some utter crap. Don't know what I want from this one really.

I don’t think it will be the wedding, unless they’ve been engaged for 5 years - I think they will do it in ‘real time’. Hope they get the same actor back for Neil The Baby!

@faceoff2000 it was just horrible - left on a total cliffhanger with no promise of a resolution. Didn't like the marriage problems of G&S - seemed to come out of nowhere. The implication from the proper series finale was that N&S would stay together.
It just seemed cobbled together, how things had come about didn't seem to be explained and it just didn't have the 'feel' of the originals. Idk, maybe it was too late and they shouldn't have agreed to a Christmas special in the first place.

Crazy to think it will be half a decade on from the 2019 Christmas special. I didn’t think that one was too bad but it took a while to adjust to how much older the cast were.

The second Xmas special really grew on me although bits of it definitely felt forced and like they were trying to recreate the best bits of the 3 series.

I hope this is a good one!

Tgg he et have to have the young man paying baby Neil again. He was such a great little actor in the last Christmas special.
Go steady on new characters. No one wants to see them.
And as much Uncle Bryan, Ness and Dave Coaches as possible as they’re the funniest.

Oof, I'm not sure about this. I loves a bit of G&S I do, but I also liked how they ended it last time... the will they/won't they with Nessa and Smithy doesn't need a resolution. It's kind of a never-ending story, I think and actually summed up their relationship perfectly.

The characters really have nowhere to go. They will need to do their stock catchphrases or we will be disappointed (Pam having an existential crisis over baby lambs or somesuch, Pete and Dawny fighting and making up, Mick being a rock etc, Bryn being a loveable idiot....) but they are tropes, not a development that can happen in one episode.

I am v happy to be proved wrong, because obvs it's always fun to see wot's occurin but I hope they haven't jumped the shark with this.

I want Dave Coaches to appear as a cameo. Just one more time. There's something about him that just cracks me up.

Yes I'm hoping they gauged from the reaction to Smithy's snobby girlfriend that we don't want new characters :( apparently they were considering Gavin cheating on Stacey for the 2019 special and then walked it back, I'm glad about that. I just want the old gang mucking about, eating omelettes and whatnot - it's comfort telly at its best.

I'm seeing Alison Steadman tomorrow at an event. The urge to shout 'three-steaks Pam will be unbearable.
