A final final episode!

Fingers crossed they can go out with a bang but not sure!

This, I love Dave Coaches and was really sad he wasn't in the last Christmas special! I always thought he was treated pretty poorly by Nessa and Smithy

Dave Coaches is such a great character. One of my favourite lines was the DJ at the bingo referencing Dave's alleged STD - 'I'd give her your love but we all know where that gets you' 🤣

Ooh interesting that some think the show about Nessa and Smithy. I totally get that, but I actually think this is one example of a show which is exactly about the eponymous characters. If it wasn't for G&S there would be no show. They are the glue.

I think Stacey is actually the most important character in it. She is relentlessly cheerful and always sees the good in Nessa, she is just the sweetness at the heart of it all, which makes the show so feel good and appealing. She is quietly controlling of course ("but that's not my main present") but she is determined to make a family after her dad has died and everyone kind of falls into line to do this. If you take G&S out, there are no connections to anyone else.

So yeah, there are funnier and more interesting characters for sure. Nessa is an enigma, no word of a lie, but Stacey enables her to have this whole backstory, often feeding her their shared history.

So truth be told, the ending should be Gavin and Stacey. IMHO!

If it wasn't for G&S there would be no show. They are the glue. They are the glue sticking N and S together. Bear in mind the Smithy and Nessa actors wrote it.

As they alternate a Christmas in Barry / Essex, and the 2019 was Barry it should be Essex.

Love Pete and Dawn, hope they are still together and not divorced / in new relationships!

Wasn't keen on the last special and didn't like the vulnerable Nessa at the end.
I think in this episode they should be married and have been for 5 years. Maybe some flashbacks to the actual wedding? They end up living with Smithy's mum. Cue some great scenes between Nessa and Kath.

@DownWithThisKindOfThing In 2021 London and parts of Essex were in Tier 4 due to omicrom, and mixing in Christmas bubbles was not allowed. We lived nearby and had to stay at home by ourselves. Sooo this might have applied to Pam and Mick? 🤓

If there’s a house move they have to bring back the awful estate agent who showed Gavin and Stacey around that bedsit

G&S will be separated or divorced and N&S will be together and the strong relationship (an about face of the dynamic of the couples).

The episode will be a slow reconnection of G&S ending at the same spot in the very first episode where G was waiting for S at the bus stop at Barry Island.

If they did a series this could work but might be a bit much in one episode

The trouble is, I refuse to watch anything with James Corden in.
