Im so excited! My dh dont like the show much, but even he is desperate to know what happened on that bloody fishing trip!

He reckons the last words ever said will be bryns's & he will say something like "what happened was..." then credits will roll and we will forever remain in mystery 😔😔😔

I do think that Uncle Bryn had to change his clothes or something on that fishing trip and the nephew saw him in his briefs
I bet it's nothing, but his paranoia and general demeanor means he was so embarrassed by all of it when it's just one of those things !

Back when the series was being made, the cast were saying they had made a rod for their own backs with the details of the fishing trip. Soup.. defies gravity.. legal in this country.. how can they possibly weave a story around that?!

They can’t! Any attempt to explain it would ruin it. I think they’ve said before they’ll never try. Not that anything is guaranteed.

Although I’ve watched the whole thing as a comfort watch myriad times there are about four things in this thread that I’ve never noticed. Agree that’s why it’s so good. I’ve got a friend who is very negative about it - but she’s never actually watched it. She thinks it’s very broad comedy and she’s missing so much.

I'm sure I've watched an interview years ago with Matthew saying they filmed the telling of the fishing trip scene but it got cut.

What's the plot?
It’s five years since we left Nessa down on one knee declaring her love for Smithy and asking him to marry her. And a lot has happened in those five years.
In Barry, Bryn’s packing the Picasso in readiness for a trip to Essex; Stacey and Gavin are looking for new ways to spice up their seventeen year marriage and Gwen is behaving most strangely. Nessa’s started a new business venture and Neil the Baby’s about to begin an apprenticeship with his dad.
Over in Billericay Pam is stressing out at the prospect of playing hostess, not helped by a newly retired Mick practicing his golf swings in the living room and there have been more ups and downs in Pete and Dawn’s relationship.
Join us on the journey to Barry and Billericay as we catch up with the Shipmans and the Wests for the very last time and maybe find out what exactly did happen on that fishing trip.

Larry Lamb and Alison Steadman both late 70s, I think 17 years makes quite a difference when people are in their 60s and 70s.

Ruth Jones and Joanne Page still looks quite similar to how thy did in series 1 but the others have all aged!

Why wouldn't they have aged in 17 years

Remember fingers and Louise(?) getting together at G&S wedding? Would be nice to see if that worked out and to what happened to the other friends G and Smithy had. And for Smithy's sister to appear.
Love that Neil the baby is still the same actor.

They didn’t get together. It was just a shag. They snog again when the Essex boys come to Barry for the weekend but it’s not a relationship.

I think Gavin and Stacey split up. Not an affair but a falling out of love as a couple. It started as then getting together so I think that would be something that would absolutely end it.

Rewatched it all this week. Forgot how fun it is. I won't lie to you, Nessa is absolute class.

Really hoping for a good ending, no deaths / divorce, and for the finishing trip to forever remain a mystery!

Can't wait.
