Dawn and Pete separated and online dating! Bring their respective dates to Xmas lunch!

elliejjtiny · 09/12/2024 16:26

I nearly cried when Neil the baby gave his mum and dad a present he'd made at school in DT. I remember my ds1 doing something similar at the same age and me being just as proud as Nessa.

I can just imagine Bryn with an air fryer!

I hope Smithy has ditched the posh girlfriend. I really didn't like it when Nessa said what's occurring and she looked confused and said she didn't think anything was occuring.

Mistressofnone · 11/12/2024 15:26

It's not what we might be expecting... according to Ruth Jones. What are we not expecting?! Divorce, death or adultery?

buttnut · 11/12/2024 16:25

As much as I’m excited for another episode we rewatched the final episode of series 3 yesterday and it made me remember what a perfect place it was to leave and end the series.

Wonkypictureframe · 11/12/2024 16:32

Like you I'm a bit torn as I really looking forward to more content, but leaving Smithy and Nessa as co-parenting fuck buddies felt really right.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/12/2024 16:37

I'm on the fence too. The beauty of Gavin and Stacey was the unspoken bits, the last Christmas special spelled everything out too obviously. It should have been left at the end with them all sat on the wall, Stacey pregnant. Plus in the last special Gavin's face looked really weird and plastic looking. I remember being really disappointed watching it 'live'. The first Christmas special is great, we watched again it last night!

I read that too and she also said that because of the ending there is no way it can ever come back. So I'm thinking a death as that's as final as you can get .

Has anyone seen Joanna page doing the rob brydon chat thing on YouTube it is so funny she is just wonderful. I watch it when I need to cheer up

CoolShoeshine · 11/12/2024 17:36

Really hoping it's in Billericay this time, Pams house has got christmassy bling.
Kind of expecting the same formula as previous christmas episodes - chats with Pete and Dawn like they did about secret santa or turkeys, gav and smithy belting out a christmas song, crappy nessa gifts and Bryn wowed by some new gadget. Low on plot high on dialogue.

Wonkypictureframe · 11/12/2024 17:42

Apparently it’s not set at Christmas.

chosenone · 11/12/2024 17:45

So the photos released show it’s not Xmas time, it’s Summer. Some of it in Essex, some in Barry. Looks like there’s a big party at Pam’s which I think will be fab and have lots of one liners etc. I’m predicting though that Nessa will die and they all go through her bucket list and a party at Pam’s will be on there. Then various memories in Barry and then her funeral which may have some funny/tender and touching moments. Hopefully a cameo from any of her previous conquests, Nigel Havers, Bergerac, etc and Dave’s Coaches.

sunshine237 · 11/12/2024 18:49

'Low on plot high on dialogue.'

Yes! This is key.

Always preferred the Essex dos too.

Nourishinghandcream · 11/12/2024 19:11

Quite looking forward to it.

Had never watched G&S until earlier this year but having caught them on catch-up, I think it will be good viewing.
Really liked Mathew Horn when I first saw him in the TV adaptation of Agatha Raisin and wondered what he had been in before.

G&S is not a series I would re-watch due to an intense dislike of James Corden.

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/12/2024 20:17

I'm hoping they get together

Hope no deaths

Just a happy all together

the80sweregreat · 11/12/2024 21:08

Matthew Horn turned up in a black mirror episode once and he was good.

beguilingeyes · 03/05/2024 12:49

I'm seeing Alison Steadman tomorrow at an event. The urge to shout 'three-steaks Pam will be unbearable.

Edited

🤣🤣🤣👏👏👏

Mistressofnone · 12/12/2024 06:57

Three steaks Pam! 😄 I hope some of it will be at Christmas. The cast are describing it as a masterpiece... just please no deaths!

Would like the fishing trip story to be revealed, met with a Pamela-style 'is that it? IS. THAT. IT?'

I saw him in The Tempest this week he was funny but his hair looked dreadful.

Soup reminds them and they did it in their knees

Hope we find out

Turmerictolly · 12/12/2024 22:23

Does anyone know when it will be shown?

Christmas Day BBC One 9:00-10:30

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/12/2024 00:09

With 2nd EASTENDERS after

That's late. Wonder if gonna be a very dark episode

Twonewcats · 13/12/2024 00:22

Agh the last Christmas special was really poor. As are most Christmas specials, to be fair 🥴
I hate how most of them try to have either a hugely complicated or shocking plot; or they have the usual number of funny lines but diluted over a longer episode.

90 minutes? Bloody hell! That's either going to be amazing or far far too long.

I took that to mean it isn't set at Christmas and is just like an extended normal episode.
