Following on from the last thread.

We're currently up to where Roy has been arrested for (allegedly) killing Lauren, and Roy's dog has been stolen and the thieves are saying the dog won't be returned until Roy admits his guilt.

Leanne is being drawn into a weird cult.

Toyah is arrested for criminal damage for attacking someone's car. (Someone who thinks Roy buried Lauren in the park!) And she doesn't seem quite herself. What is wrong with her?

Joel and DeeDee are on-again-off-again ...

I'm sure there's a few more bits and bobs going on, but there's plenty of space on this thread (and time) to catch up. Smile

I'd definitely like to see Glenda with more screen time. I probably could see her with Steve too.

I'm pretty sure Lauren has been kidnapped by Bad Men and will re-emerge, but whatever the storyline turns out to be you can guarantee it will be about as believable as Leanne and the cult.

Thequeenofwishfulthinking · 29/04/2024 18:22

Would have been more believable if Toyah joined the cult. She appears more vulnerable.

Hellendegenerate · 29/04/2024 18:52

Glenda's seems rather popular with many on this thread but I don't like her much. Too much make up and OTT face pulling. And everything she says is done in such exaggerated contorted drama queen style.

Yes I know she's meant to run a kids drama school. I still don't like her character.

AmusedMaker · 29/04/2024 18:57

Leanne has been very vulnerable since the death of Oliver, she puts on a hard front but it’s probably to stop her going completely under.
The life coach ( or whatever he is ) has tapped into that 100%

GrandTheftWalrus · 29/04/2024 20:36

What did Paul say?

QueenOfTheEntireFuckingUniverse · 29/04/2024 20:37

Why's Roy got a phone in his cell?

AmusedMaker · 29/04/2024 20:42

What did Paul say?

fuck

GrandTheftWalrus · 29/04/2024 20:43

Did he actually say it or almost? I missed it and can't go back.

Shellingbynight · 29/04/2024 20:48

@AmusedMaker I agree but the problem is, they only remember to mention Oliver when it's convenient for the plot.

Paul supposedly did say fuck but all we actually heard was F.

The Roy plot is making me lose the will to live.

@Hellendegenerate I know what you mean about Glenda being OTT but she has a warmth which makes me not mind that. She also has the benefit of not yet being involved in a ridiculous storyline but I suppose that's just a matter of time!

@Shellingbynight "lauren" is on the Tardis. Or, the actor who plays Lauren is now in Dr Who. It doesn't look like she's coming back any time soon.

I suppose she could always squeeze a quick visit to Corrie, inbetween zipping round the universe though.

Isn't that the actress that played Kelly. Not Lauren?

user1471453601 · 29/04/2024 20:59

I'm no, I've got my blind young corrie women mixed up 😁. Sorry.

iloveshetlandponies · 29/04/2024 21:40

Place marking

whatsbestforme · 29/04/2024 22:05

Lots of comedy in tonight's ep
I turned the sound off at the Roy stuff
Agree with you,Nick could do better he like Steve is mostly always miserable

whatsbestforme · 29/04/2024 22:09

Also, how come in soaps people are so relaxed but also so rude to Police?
Most of us wouldn't behave like that for fear of reprisals but everyone in Corrie is so cocky to Police, which doesn't set a good example to those watching.
It's getting tedious.

NCTDN · 29/04/2024 22:10

There was a pp speculating about max being the one who is to do with Lauren's disappearance. I'm wondering whether that could be the case ?

Thequeenofwishfulthinking · 29/04/2024 22:17

Im trying to guess what Roy is trying to recall. The storyline is getting annoying but I’m still curious.
I can’t bear to watch Alya for much longer.. Hope she pops off to Dublin soon.
Love any scene with Bernie in and think the actor who plays Paul is doing a fantastic job.

Roryhon · 29/04/2024 22:33

Why has Roy fallen out with Carla? (sorry, I seem to forget things that have happened so easily, they’re just not memorable!).

I agree re being grumpy with the police!

Bobby - Carla's nephew - told the police a lie to try and exonerate Roy. (He gave lead detective DS Swain a false statement, telling her he witnessed a strange man leaving Lauren's flat.) Carla went along with it. To try to save Roy.

Roy was furious as he hates lies - and lying. He knows if he says Bobby and Carla lied they will be in trouble. So he is keeping quiet, but is so annoyed with Carla that he doesn't want to see her/speak to her again. (He says this but I bet he will do eventually...)

It looks like Max and Lauren were discussing something and Roy is trying to recall what it is.

Could be Max has been dragged into a gang situation or something similar again
He's easily manipulated
I will be annoyed if it is this as its getting a bit tedious with Max as villain repeatedly

Roryhon · 29/04/2024 23:12

Thanks @SabreIsMyFave. It does seem an OTT reaction to someone trying to help him.

Id be disappointed if it was something to do with Max, he’d been so kind to Lauren lately. I wish they’d just wrap this up. It’s all a bit silly. There’s not even a body. Corrie police don’t usually seem that bothered about missing people- there have been hundreds on that street before Lauren!

I hate when people in soaps are so casually rude to hospital staff

Eastenders is worse, they are always going into hospitals and shouting

The trouble with the Lauren mystery is that when revealed the explanation will be as implausible as the rest of the plot

DahliaMacNamara · 30/04/2024 00:30

I doubt Max turns out to be directly involved, but it might turn out that the conversation Roy has rewound back to in his head holds a Vital Clue, like Barnaby remembering important details on Midsomer Murders.

Shellingbynight · 30/04/2024 08:27

It's a shame that the lovely Dee Dee has to share scenes with Alya and Adam. Thank goodness for Dublin.

I agree the actor playing Paul is doing a great job with this storyline. I hope he goes on to have a good career.
