Following on from the last thread.

We're currently up to where Roy has been arrested for (allegedly) killing Lauren, and Roy's dog has been stolen and the thieves are saying the dog won't be returned until Roy admits his guilt.

Leanne is being drawn into a weird cult.

Toyah is arrested for criminal damage for attacking someone's car. (Someone who thinks Roy buried Lauren in the park!) And she doesn't seem quite herself. What is wrong with her?

Joel and DeeDee are on-again-off-again ...

I'm sure there's a few more bits and bobs going on, but there's plenty of space on this thread (and time) to catch up. Smile

It always takes longer in soaps for single people to hook up than it does for one half of a couple to be so upset by a row that they accidentally sleep with someone else that very day.

JMSA · 27/04/2024 08:22

It's all just so boring. The Roy storyline is such a yawnfest.
You could watch a few episodes in random order and it would still make sense, as everything has been so samey for weeks.

ColBoulter · 27/04/2024 08:33

I hate it when they introduce a random story line that is gaslighting long term fans just so they can make a story " work"

This Toyah crap is just nonsense, even the actress seems to be struggling to believe it.

So what if creepy cult man knows Leanne was on the game ?
It's common knowledge ont street and she's had many a row where someone will fling it in her faceConfused

AmusedMaker · 27/04/2024 08:33

Agree, the Roy/ Lauren storyline isn’t as gripping as the writers probably thought it would be. The twist should be Roy did it.

I’m much preferring the Toyah / Leanne situation, they’re both great actors imo.
Toyah’s face when Leanne said she didn’t want to talk about the baby.

Shellingbynight · 27/04/2024 08:51

I’ve watched Corrie since the early days and until a few years ago never missed an episode. Nowadays I tend to just watch on Mondays then read this thread to see what nonsense I missed! I did see the Toyah story exposition this week, absolute nonsense. I’ve been watching Classic Corrie so I only saw the rape and aftermath about 18 months ago so it’s quite fresh in my mind. It’s a shame as Georgia is such a good actress.

As for the Roy storyline… give me strength. Lauren is bound to be alive and holed up somewhere.

Jitterybugs · 26/04/2024 21:48

Looks like that slime ball has plenty of material now to blackmail Leanne and coerce her into a nasty situation.

I’m confused about Roy’s prison. Can they really just phone out and ask someone to come immediately and visit them? Carla just knocked back her wine and went straight to the prison.

Is it different when someone is on remand, rather than "in prison"? I've no idea, but maybe that's why Roy has visiting "on demand". Although when Nina was on the phone to him when he rang for her birthday, and Evelyn was right next to her, Evelyn did say loudly enough that Roy could hear, that what Nina would really have liked for her birthday was a visiting order, so who knows? Everything seems to happen different in Corrie compared to real life 😅

SabreIsMyFave · 27/04/2024 10:24

I kinda wish the Roy storyline hadn't happened too. It's dragging now! And Roy in prison is awful. (Though, as a pp said, it would be a great twist if Lauren was dead and it WAS Roy who did it! Although, as has been said, we all know Lauren is still alive! (Probably.)

And I also dislike the Toyah's baby storyline and wish they hadn't introduced it. It's so daft. Especially as when you look at Toyah from October 2001 on a photo I posted earlier in the thread, where she was meant to be SIX months pregnant! (With the baby she buried.)

Pic 1 is Toyah (allegedly) 6 months pregnant. Pic 2 is a woman who is actually 6 months pregnant. Toyah was clearly not 6 months pregnant then. Do the writers not actually do any research into past episodes? Do they actually think about anything at all? Or do they just enjoy writing drivel that makes no sense, and hope the viewers won't notice?!

!

Can’t see Leanne and Nick lasting much longer. They are mismatched. Think he would be better off with Carla.

Nick and Carla were a couple for a while I'm sure.

HurdyGurdy19 · 27/04/2024 10:48

Toyah did say that she knew nothing about the pregnancy until she started contractions. It does happen. On a parenting forums I used years and years ago, one of the women posted "guess what I got for Mother's Day". She had no idea she was pregnant.

I also saw a photograph years ago, of a woman who was heavily pregnant, and had a flat stomach. I'm not sure I believe the photograph, but I did read that (something like) sometimes the pregnancy can grow inwards and not outwards and it's possible not to have a bump.

FeltCarrot · 27/04/2024 10:55

Whilst I agree some women may not know they are pregnant until they are in labour this story line just doesn’t fit.
Toyah was raped so would she have not/ or did we know she took the MAP, or pregnancy test.
It has never been mentioned, nor even when she stole Eva’s baby.
I suspect this story will just wither away when the scriptwriters realise the viewers didn’t fall for it.

eggandonion · 27/04/2024 11:03

Everyone has a lot of trauma to upload to slimeball on the street. He would be exhausted listening to them all.
Didn't Abi have a baby without knowing she was pregnant.

Shellingbynight · 27/04/2024 11:04

I think Toyah did take the morning after pill and had a pregnancy test? In those days Corrie did bother to research situations realistically. And as the photos show, she was never pregnant. It really is foolish to do that type of storyline when it has only recently been shown on Classic.

QueenOfTheEntireFuckingUniverse · 27/04/2024 11:06

I was at school with a girl who didn't have a bump until about 3 weeks before she gave birth. So that bit is believable for me.

The rest isn't though. Why did she never mention Rose when struggling to conceive in later life? They would have asked if she'd been pg previously surely? Oh. Hang on, I think she mentioned a nurse knowing?

AmusedMaker · 27/04/2024 11:09

Coincidentally, I’m currently watching an episode of Lewis on ITV3 and Toyah’s in it.

JewelleryCat · 27/04/2024 11:54

In the DM article I read about this, the actress who played Janice didn’t like the fact Corrie was rewriting history with what happened to Toyah

Hellendegenerate · 27/04/2024 12:26

Did Toyah commit a crime by burying the dead baby? If it was still born but full term was she not supposed to register the birth?

Sorry these questions are sensitive but posters on here could know the whys and wherefores 😔

FeltCarrot · 27/04/2024 12:43

Trigger Warning

BBC news are reporting on a baby’s remains being discovered at a house in Wigan a couple of weeks ago. This storyline could not have come at a worse time.

Exactly these things are certainly not unheard of.

She'd comment on a fart if it was vaguely related to her time in Corrie... (I have met her and frankly she makes Janice look classy, mild mannered and well educated!)...

Trigger warning

I think it would be concealing a birth and preventing lawful burial.
Also I think Leanne is going to be the one to reveal this.
Probably in one of her thingys( can't remember what she calls them)with CreepyCultLeader (CCL)
It will be I'm sooooo sad she told me this,I cant cope mee, meeee, meeeee
He certainly knows how to tap into Leannes worst traits

JewelleryCat · 27/04/2024 14:23

Because Rowan recorded Leanne’s upload session thing however that works, is he going to blackmail her?

WiddlinDiddlin · 27/04/2024 15:15

@JewelleryCat - mm, yup. I was stuck in a press room with her for hours, trying to work and struggling cos she has no volume control whatsoever nor any concept others might be working!

SabreIsMyFave · 27/04/2024 15:19

@WiddlinDiddlin I can believe what you say about Vicky Entwistle. (Janice Battersby.) Several years ago when Spider came back, she tweeted to say 'at LAST a decent actor in this shitty show.' (Something like that.) She came across as very arrogant.

I don't think SHE will be asked back!
