Following on from the last thread.

We're currently up to where Roy has been arrested for (allegedly) killing Lauren, and Roy's dog has been stolen and the thieves are saying the dog won't be returned until Roy admits his guilt.

Leanne is being drawn into a weird cult.

Toyah is arrested for criminal damage for attacking someone's car. (Someone who thinks Roy buried Lauren in the park!) And she doesn't seem quite herself. What is wrong with her?

Joel and DeeDee are on-again-off-again ...

I'm sure there's a few more bits and bobs going on, but there's plenty of space on this thread (and time) to catch up.

I thought that, but it looks like that lifestyle coach man is going to use Leannes past in that regard against her. So having the same storyline with someone else at the same time would be boring.

Although Leanne and Bernie could bond over their past "job" and both losing a child.

That’s not that much of big deal is it. Prostitution is one of the oldest professions in the world. I think it’ll be bigger than that. From the conversation she was having with Dev I think she’s got other kids that were maybe taken away from her.

Well they probably couldn't eat any more because the 'big shop' they got was only two half full bags. My big shop for three people is about four times the size of that!

Good point! I went to the shop just now for milk. I came home with my medium size backpack full and 3 things in my arms that didn't fit in the bag.

Maybe Bernie had quads too! Dev had children with the women who ran his other shops, 2 or 3 (women) I can't remember which, Sunita left him when she found out about them.

I’m guessing she’s had other children that she gave up for adoption - although nothing wrong with that if she felt she couldn’t cope.

Tyrone's mum was called Jackie Dobbs. She was played by Margi Clarke.

Actually... ignore me. Jackie was his adoptive mum. The actress Claire Sweeney plays his real mum, Cassie.

I really didn't like Bernie when she first arrived, but certainly in Paul's storyline, she's really grown on me, and I just know I was cry buckets when she finally loses him. She's played the part of a mother desperately trying to be upbeat and positive, knowing her son is dying, whilst no doubt wanting to just scream and scream and scream, to perfection.

I love Bernie! I love how she’s a middle aged woman who is actually portrayed as someone who was a bit wild in the 90s. I felt for her when Denny said she was the reason Paul had MND because she was the ‘queen of ecstasy’.

Remember the conversation with Abi where they were both sharing mum guilt over their pasts, and blaming themselves for their son’s deaths. Heartbreaking.

I think the secret will be something to do with that. She’s obviously a reformed character and is making up for lost time with the twins.

Denny, on the other hand, is still a complete wrong un.

Very well written character, Bernie. You can easily imagine how such a character grew up and the bad choices she may have made but equally you get that she's decent at heart.

Still wouldn't have paired her with Dev though.

I have to agree, Bernie is an excellent character. Took a long time to develop, but is brilliant now! I do agree with a pp though, that Bernie and Dev are an odd pairing. As a few others have said though, I am really disliking Gemma these days. She is a one trick pony, and her facial expressions/gurning just really jar me! I will also be glad to see the back of bloody Alya!

Fun fact; Jane Hazlegrove who plays Bernie - is the wife of the actress who played Kay Linnel - the Forensic Accountant, in Mr Bates vs The Post Office! (Isobel Middleton.) They make a lovely couple. 😍

Surely she wasn't a brilliant mum to the twins though? As I remember, the Gemma character at first was involved in a dodgy gang, one of whom killed David's wife. And Paul was a very troubled lad when he first appeared.

They could have calmed Gemma down and turned her into a great mum, instead she's still this caricature of gobby,eating with her mouth open idiot.
Paul moved from reactive, arsey Gruffalo to normal character quite quickly.

I think Bernies secret is a triplet probably called Mercury ( Apollo, Gemini,Mercury space missions)
She couldn't cope with 3 so kept " the twins"
Paul will die soon and Mercury will pop up.

I also think there's another one making them triplets. I hadn't speculated names though !

I wondered if she'd had a baby who died from neglect, or at birth, because of her life style at the time.

There was a pile of letters, tied up together in the tin, I wonder who they were from.
