Classic Corrie Thread. Now in September 2004.

Continuing from the last thread when 2003 begins! Doesn't time fly in Classic Corrie? The last thread was started 10 months ago, and we have powered through a year and 8 months in that time (20 months.) Wonder where we will be by the end of this one? (If it does eventually come to an end?)

Karen (McDonald) has been stressing about the death of her mum - and trying to be a better person, Martin and Katie are still together, (though Katie's dad Tommy is unimpressed by it,) Kelly Crabtree has just come in, Cilla abandoned Chesney to go on holiday with Les, Sunita and Dev are together at last, and Maya is about to go on a rampage after appearing to forge Sunita's signature for something.

Also, Sean has just come in and started living with Eileen (still is I think!) Jason and Todd are still in it, and Danny Baldwin and his wife Frankie are in charge of Underworld now, with Daniel's 'Uncle Mike' taking lots more time off. Oh, and Danny's son Jamie has just arrived, followed by Frankie and Danny's son Warren...

Charlie the builder is dating Shelly the barmaid, and Sally has just recently started turning into a snob. Jack (Duckworth) was dressed as Ida Fagg posing as a woman for the bowls team, and Norris, Blanche, and Emily have been playing poker!

Roy and Hayley are still together, Ciaran the handsome Irish barman is trying to start up his own business with Penny King, Steve seems to be warming to his little daughter (baby Amy,) and at the moment, there doesn't seem to be much drama with Gail and Audrey's family, or the Barlows, or the Websters, or with Fred and Ashley. Ashley and Clare are dating, but it's still a bit up in the air.

Hope I haven't missed much out, but that covers most stuff going on right now I think. Let's see how much has changed by the end of this thread.

That's so true. I know some lovely people who go to Church/are a Christian, but I know some awful people too. Act like their shit don't stink, going to Church 3-4 times a month, and sucking up to the vicar and his wife, but are actually deeply unpleasant and judgemental underneath.

Why is Tracey so hateful? Glad Deirdre and Ken kicked her out. At least Janine in Eastenders had a crappy childhood and was abandoned by her dad and sister and had to go on the game etc to survive (and sleep with Ian Beale 🤢).

I dont think its Ashley ,she really has a,problem with more the situation ie hes a widower with a,small child ,maybe she's thinking he just wants a mother figure for Our Joshua?

Though to be fair Tracy did have to put up with all Ken and Deirdre’s affairs and them shouting at each other

thought it was a bit sad today when she called him Dad and he told her ‘I brought you up as my own' yes you should have Ken you adopted her

Yeah, Joshua's face was a picture! 😃 No idea why Claire's mum is so against Ashley. Unless as as pp said, it's because she feels Ashley is just after a baby mama to replace Maxine.

I think that Claire’s mum may be afraid of losing her. It was just the two of them for so many years. She reminds me of the way Maud Grimes was with Maureen.

Perhaps Claire’s mum has her successful career and Claire …. but not much else.

I think Claire was unnecessarily trying to provoke an argument with Maxines mum today about Joshua,s shirt ,I would have thrown away a top that was covered in toddler vomit too
She redeemed herself though by saying maxine would never be forgotten and i think Doreen did her best to accept Ashley needed to move on

I think Claire probably saw though the "covered in vomit" story and realised that Maxine's mum had just bought Joshua a new t-shirt, that had been chosen by her, and by default, Maxine.

Yep Charlie has quickly turned into a massive arsehole hasn't he, considering he was all over Shelley, begging her to have him back last week!

Horrible, gaslighting, manipulative, loathsome bastard.

Isn't he just maybe because the story is being played out at double the speed than originally it seems much quicker

I remember when Tracey came back to Corrie after her “time away” (not yet aired in classic Corrie) and I felt really annoyed that justice had not been served on this character. I felt that Corrie usually dealt with the villains appropriately but never did with this character. And watching it again there are so many storylines where she deserved prison and or her family never speaking to her again, but it never happens. It’s making me really angry actually the way she gets away with everything. Roy and Hayley Being a perfect example, Tracey claimed that she’d practically raped Roy, sold his child to him then it turns out she lied about the whole thing but R and H seem to have forgiven and forgotten, same with Ken and Dietdre. I hate Tracey and it’s making me (maybe irrationally) angry watching it all play out

Yes she's not a likeable character at all.is she?
And yes she's very attractive ,I don't think that alone would mean people would keep forgiving her she's nasty to everyone
And even sees her own daughter as an inconvenience.

LOL, yes to this! Tracey is a DEMON, and yet she seems to get away with everything. Like you say - she should have gone to prison for all the things she has done (so far even!) Awful woman! 😖

At least Charlie and Maya didn't have a relationship. Add in Tracyluv. Three horrors.

Yeah I do remember Maya pretending to be Sunita, (and marrying multiple men.) and Sunita getting arrested! Can't remember how it pans out though.

Maya is evil isn't she? Poor Sunita. (And poor Dev.)

I think the Charlie thing is really well done. Like even though we know what he’s like I can still see why for example Gail is charmed by him. He really knows what he’s doing doesn’t he. Ugh. So gross.

House devil and street angel is Charlie. He is so twinkly at all the ladies. Poor Shelley is bewildered.

Shelley did a really bad job of playing drunk, and I find her character very boring, but not as annoying as Liz!

Don’t remember watching at the time but do remember sunita and dev wedding. Don’t remember what happens next, bring on next week

Well psychopaths can be very charming!
But yes He does actually act it well.
