Classic Corrie Thread. Now in September 2004.

Continuing from the last thread when 2003 begins! Doesn't time fly in Classic Corrie? The last thread was started 10 months ago, and we have powered through a year and 8 months in that time (20 months.) Wonder where we will be by the end of this one? (If it does eventually come to an end?)

Karen (McDonald) has been stressing about the death of her mum - and trying to be a better person, Martin and Katie are still together, (though Katie's dad Tommy is unimpressed by it,) Kelly Crabtree has just come in, Cilla abandoned Chesney to go on holiday with Les, Sunita and Dev are together at last, and Maya is about to go on a rampage after appearing to forge Sunita's signature for something.

Also, Sean has just come in and started living with Eileen (still is I think!) Jason and Todd are still in it, and Danny Baldwin and his wife Frankie are in charge of Underworld now, with Daniel's 'Uncle Mike' taking lots more time off. Oh, and Danny's son Jamie has just arrived, followed by Frankie and Danny's son Warren...

Charlie the builder is dating Shelly the barmaid, and Sally has just recently started turning into a snob. Jack (Duckworth) was dressed as Ida Fagg posing as a woman for the bowls team, and Norris, Blanche, and Emily have been playing poker!

Roy and Hayley are still together, Ciaran the handsome Irish barman is trying to start up his own business with Penny King, Steve seems to be warming to his little daughter (baby Amy,) and at the moment, there doesn't seem to be much drama with Gail and Audrey's family, or the Barlows, or the Websters, or with Fred and Ashley. Ashley and Clare are dating, but it's still a bit up in the air.

Hope I haven't missed much out, but that covers most stuff going on right now I think. Let's see how much has changed by the end of this thread.

My favourite character is Blanche, she has the best lines.

Quite a few of them have all known each other since being at Oldham theatre workshop so I imagine they can be very cliquey ,Anthony cotton grew up near me and was very friendly with Lisa Riley by all account,s I didn't know Anthony but Lisa was a couple of years younger than me at school and I read her autobiography out of curiosity she mentioned quote a few actors who were around the sme age and many of them Met as kids at Oldham.

I loved her exchanges with Deirdre in that harmonica episode.

Speaking of Nigel Pivaro he was a regular contributor to the Salford Star.

I’m taking this far too seriously. I thought I hope present day Amy doesn’t know how Tracey treated her like pass the parcel. 🤣

LOL! I know right! Everyone was looking after Amy except her MOTHER. She really CBA with her. I know babies are hard work, but FFS, Tracey never has Amy. So how can she be sick of looking after her?!

Also, I had a bad feeling about Sunita's father (apparently) saying he will meet her 'in the park' for a chat! (Her brother who turned up today phoned her and told her this; that her dad will meet her in the park.)

Poor Sunita sat there for ages - in the rain - waiting, and he didn't turn up. Also, there's something a bit 'off' about her brother. I may be wrong, but something isn't sitting right with me about him. I wonder if her brother told her that her dad would meet her (when he wasn't going to,) just to hurt her?

It's all rather odd!

This Karen storyline is driving me mad. When does she get back to normal???

also were we supposed to feel sorry for Tracey there? As PP said she never has Amy long enough to get sick of her!

I wondered if Sunita's dad was going to turn up with several other people and kidnap her to keep her out of Dev's evil clutches. I did feel sorry for her, sitting there in the pouring rain. However, if she'd just got up and moved a few feet away, it didn't seem to be raining there, and she'd have stayed dry.

The Karen storyline started out ok, but that scene at the shopping centre was ridiculous. Karen would have had to have had a lobotomy and a period of intense indoctrination to behave like that. All sympathy for her, and her unresolved issues with her mother, but blimey - can we have bolshy Karen back quickly please.

Interesting to see Steve and Karen in the Trafford Centre today, I was there yesterday it doesn't seem to have changed in 20 years !🤣

Poor Sunita, barely out of brain surgery but Maya and now her brother are out to get her. And Leanne is trying to steal her fiancé!

But why would Leanne make a play for Dev? His shops and being rich?

Was Leanne meant to be the ladette of the day, thought she could do anything and pass it off as a laugh? The chat between her and Jamie, I need a pretty face to look at , sometimes I wish I wasn’t so pretty 🤢

I have to admit this 'new' version of Karen is grating on me now. It's fine to be good and nice and decent and kind (after being a materialistic selfish bitch for so long.) But she has gone much too far the other way, and it's a bit ridiculous to be honest. Bring back the old Karen!

Can anyone remember who it was Maya was meeting (male waiting in a car outside) when she stole Sunita's birth certificate from the flat.
I really can't remember how the plot develops but we do have a long remembered three word rhyme about Maya in our house (I don't want to spoiler anything so I'll leave a big gap)

Katie's hair... you think it can't get any worse but somehow it does.

I mean, were the stylists in some sort of bet or competition with each other 'let's see how bad we can make this hair before the producers say something' and trying to outdo each other each week

What are we in, 2004? I had a not too dissimilar style back then. It was blue and red and choppy but not as short. I got it all done for £15 with a trainee hairdresser. It was dreadful.

I just remember having very straight hair in the early 00,s ceramic straighteners were essential as I recall and I much preferred the eye brow style of those days to the current style
Maybe it was the actress,s preference at the time??
Janice and leanne,s hair isn't much better imo.

I notice that Nicola in Classic Emmerdale has a similar style. Are both classic soaps still in around the same time
