watching, how will they top the film?

PenelopePitstops · 15/03/2008 19:42

i hate the first few weeks! bring on the live shows

chickenlickinlissie · 15/03/2008 19:43

i love this type of thing!

MaryAnnSmotheredinchocolate · 15/03/2008 20:53

yay ! yes, wish they'd get to the live shows- the best girly so far is Nancy - the little boys will be interesting, it's weird because ds is 10 so they're pretty near that age and I'll be thinking/comparing them to him (he loves to sing !)

turquoise · 15/03/2008 20:55

I'm a bit about putting little boys through trial by television tbh.

Loved all the Nancys - favourites so far: Nancy, Cleopatra, and the one who brought her date (though I don't think she's good enough).

MaryAnnSmotheredinchocolate · 15/03/2008 21:23

oh yes, Cleopatra... I think they're making the boys go through less of a trial by television compared to the Nancys- it would be a bit much otherwise.

tortoiseSHELL · 15/03/2008 22:24

The boys won't have a public vote I think - ALW will choose

MaryAnnSmotheredinchocolate · 15/03/2008 23:07

that's good

Monobrow · 16/03/2008 18:40

Marvellous show! Love John Barrowman (sp?), love Nancy, the one who bought her boyfriend, but dont think she will win and Cleopatra. Remembered in the BBC production of Oliver, Sophie Okawotsit (sorry, sp again) played Nancy, but was very gentle, not "street" as the judges seem to want this time. Cleopatra reminded me of her.

wintera · 16/03/2008 19:23

Did anyone else spot that one of the contestants who got through was Jodie who won the biggest loser on living??

PersephoneSnape · 16/03/2008 19:40

the nancy nancy was fab. i do hope she wins.

MaryAnnSmotheredinchocolate · 22/03/2008 20:23

oh no, Nancy Nancy is out - that was a shock... Samantha is the girl for me, I think... what's the betting the Irish girl gets a green frock to wear ?

turquoise · 22/03/2008 20:28

We like Jessie.

Haven't spotted anyone yet with the real power and emotion that Nancy needs, though it's all a bit rushed - they're fair whipping through it!

MaryAnnSmotheredinchocolate · 22/03/2008 20:35

yes, Jessie good too. What about the little boys ?

newgirl · 22/03/2008 20:38

what! why did nancy nancy go out? i thought she was perfect

MaryAnnSmotheredinchocolate · 22/03/2008 20:39

was knocked out before the final 18 - not sure why, I thought she was really good

They are all a lot less pretty and polished looking than the Marias and all regular sizes which is nice

turquoise · 22/03/2008 20:43

They have to have a pro - Nancy's a monster part for an untrained voice.

MummyPenguin · 22/03/2008 20:47

I really like Jodie. The one who brought her bf in the earlier programmes. She really sums up Nancy for me, bubbly, loud, brash, bags of personality, but as Andrew Lloyd Webber said, she needs to be able to do the 'sadder' bits too, so we'll see. Jessie, yes ok, but there's something quite arrogant about her I think. Cleopatra hasn't stood out for me.

turquoise · 22/03/2008 20:50

Cleopatra's voice definitely wasn't up to it tonight imo. Or her acting.

Don't think Jodie's got enough depth, or the voice - but we really didn't get enough of anyone to see tonight.

MummyPenguin · 22/03/2008 20:59

I did wonder why Jodie had that big black belt round her red t-shirt. Looked a bit silly. And the dark haired girl with the 'fuller figure' who had her t-shirt hiked right up, I kept wanting to yell "pull it down!"

ipanemagirl · 23/03/2008 08:56

No offence to anyone intended but how posh we're most of the 10 Olivers???? The pannelled dining rooms? The acreage of gardens with huge trampolines? The elegant restaurants? I guess they're all choirboys but I was still surprised by the lack of social mix!

Also, not enough women crying in this programme......

tortoiseSHELL · 23/03/2008 08:59

I liked Jessie and Niamh.

I noticed the 'poshness' of Olivers - but I don't reckon they're all choristers - I reckon some of them are 'stagecoach' types - some of them had very 'chorister' voices but others were more 'stagey'.

Ooh I bet there's some competition among the mums...
