yes they were but I couldnt see through the blur of tears!!!

Elasticwoman · 06/04/2008 08:26

I think Jodie is a very strong candidate now.
Keisha chose the wrong song.

sphil · 06/04/2008 20:02

Very at that decision. Tara was awful! But I guess the blonde wins over the black girl every time with the 'Great British Public'

Elasticwoman · 06/04/2008 20:57

I liked Cleo as a performer but couldn't see her as Nancy. Pleased that Keisha is still in with a chance though.

I think a black Nancy is more likely than a black Oliver.

It is many years since I've read the book, but do you think Nancy could have been a Jewess? In the original text I mean.

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/04/2008 08:39

Chester sang the Pie Jesu very nicely -and was sorry that Cleo went - preferred her in sing off to Keisha..

flatmouse · 07/04/2008 10:37

Was shocked to see Cleo in bottom two. Agree that based on Saturday's performance Keisha should have been there - but surely Tara should have joined her.

And i think ALW made wrong decision - based on what he had just seen! Yes, Keisha has the better voice but i didn't feel that she put anything into the song - no emotion, whereas Cleo sang with emotion (whether due to being in the final two!) and i felt we saw some of what they were looking for in the Nancy vulnerability during that performance.

Noticed that Jessie improved the "sneer" this week, much preferred Scots lass with red hair (did not like her at all last week). Not keen on that little welsh one - feel she "overdoes" everything - although she appeared to impress during the acting challenge. Thought Francesca did well this week, but she is so NOT Nancy!

Have to hold breath each time they go to judges for fear of what Dame Edna will say!!

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/04/2008 12:49

Barry H makes me laugh, it's as if he's slightly not all there, or high on something ! Cleo did sing the final song with emotion and I thought had the balance right,so was a sad loss. Agree Ashley was good too this week.

MummyPenguin · 07/04/2008 12:52

I was shocked too that ALW voted Cleo out, although I don't particularly like her. I also think that they shouldn't base it on the performance they've just seen, i.e the sing off, I think they should take everything into account. I don't think Keisha will be there much longer.

I really don't get why they rate Rachel so much. Last week she murdered that Sugababes song. I'm a Sugababes fan, and have seen them in concert. It's not an easy song to sing, but Rachel showed how well the Sugababes sing it. Also, when she did 'Beautiful' she didn't sing it badly, but completely overacted it. I know they have to show that they can act whislt singing, but it's just too OTT. All that getting down on the floor and the overly wrought serious facial expressions.

I'm a little bit sceptical as to why they rate Niamh so much too, although prefer her to Rachel.

I hope Jodie gets the part, she's perfect for it, although she's not 9 stone as reported in the recent issue of Closer magazine!! If not Jodie then Ashley, or Jessie, although I haven't warmed to her. I think Jessie believes her own hype too much.

flatmouse · 07/04/2008 13:18

Think Jodie "lost" 9 stone, not ended up 9 stone!! I do like Jodie, but didn't think she did particularly well this week - but then she was poorly.

I find alot of the overacting (as per Rachel) is quite embarassing to watch.

And i notice that each week DvO manages to have a major dig at one.

Are they really 11 yrs old?? Some look much younger.

Was just googling Oliver! because something on the other thread about how the public wouldn't accept a "black" Nancy reminded me that they showed the last Nancy meeting the girls in the second show - who was she?
But anyway - in my googling, i saw that Rowan Atkinson was to play Fagin. That'll be fun.

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/04/2008 13:37

the Olivers seem to be between 10 and 13 I';d say

UnquietDad · 07/04/2008 13:42

It's a daft title

The Joseph one related to their "dreams" of fame, and the Maria one to the casting "problem" - but "I'd Do Anything?" They wouldn't, would they?

The title reminds me of that slot on "The Word" where those saddoes had to snog their grandmothers and so on.

flatmouse · 07/04/2008 13:52

Well they'd obviously do a fair bit, parading themselves in front of a baying crowd, public humiliation, disgusting outfits, unsuitable songs, etc

nappyaddict · 07/04/2008 15:04

i like alexander. and am loving jonny's hair!!

MummyPenguin · 07/04/2008 15:44

It definitely says in Closer mag, "Jodie has lost an amazing 11 stone and is now 9 stone." Yeah, whatever. She's still my fave though. That's right, the previous Nancy was a black girl, albeit not quite so dark as Keisha and Cleo, not that that's particularly relevant, but perhaps she just 'works' whereas others wouldn't?

EffiePerine · 08/04/2008 05:42

Am a bit surprised that Tara is still in despite singing horribly out of tune - then again, I don't think Cleo has been v impressive at all so far.

What I want to know is who chooses the outfits? Awful. Esp Keisha's dress that made her look like she had a massive arse. And that awful fat dress on Jodie. At least the dresses weren't a size too small this week...

Elasticwoman · 09/04/2008 10:15

Very harsh to describe Tara as horribly out of tune.

I liked the redhead Glaswegian a lot better with straight hair - how irrational is that?

TillyScoutsmum · 09/04/2008 10:29

Jodie and Rachel are my faves. Don't "get" Niamh at all

Didn't think Cleo should have gone... I do think the fact she is black had an influence on the voting... Not because people are racist (at least I hope not), but because people have a picture of how Nancy should be (from the film etc) and she is white. The actress who recently played her in the West End is black (and was brilliant) but she wasn't relying on a public vote to get her through ! Its the same with all of these shows - the Grease one - the 2 that won were the most similar physically to Olivia Newton John and John Travolta. Ditto Maria (Connie whatsherface) looking a bit like Julie Andrews

TillyScoutsmum · 09/04/2008 10:30

Oh and Francesca's mouth is just so bloody irritating

MummyPenguin · 09/04/2008 16:56

I agree v much about Francesca's mouth. In fact, it's quite irritating. I have seen Grease in the WE and said on the other thread, Susan McFadden and Danny Byrne (winners of Grease Is The Word) work very well as Danny and Sandy.

MaryAnnSingleton · 12/04/2008 20:39

I predict that Tara will go...
Thought Jodie did that Send in the Clowns really well and I hate the song...also liked Ashley a lot...

EffiePerine · 12/04/2008 20:40

It's funny, DH and I were watching it last week and saying how well Tara was doing in comparison to her first song - then she went wildly off key and we did a double wince

Haven't seen this week's yet ( we watch it on iplayer) - was it good?

lemonstartree · 12/04/2008 21:03

jodie great, tara, samantha & ashley overrated and awful imho

rachel, niamh, jessie, francesca, keisha not bad x
