I noticed that they only briefly mentioned that two were professionals (toothy who went thru by default - was ill) and yellow dress girl who sang that catchy number... (they were paired together) - but they seem to make more of toothy's "professional" status than other one.

Liked ms "I love rock n roll". Also liked Jodie. Some of them seem so arrogant and bitchy. Definitely not impressed with Cleo. Did love voice of Ms young Shirley Bassey.

They are all hideouly showbiz and I have never seen such fear on the faces of people on these shows before in teh boot off at teh end.they were having kittens Worth it for that alone.Like the young irish girl but she's not really Nancy the one who went had a huge bum

Have to say, wasn't too impressed by most of them considering so many of them have trained at stage schools. It's all a bit desperate really. Like Jodie and Keisha and that's about it. Don't think they'll win though.

They all need some dancing and acting lessons. Jessie stomped like a mad thing and
Niamh, left me cold, she barely moved.

Don't know why I should care anyway as I think the musical is toe-curlingly awful. But I'm already hooked.

I love these shows too, can't imagine the terribly gnashing of teeth when some of those poor ickle Olivers get the chop. The Lord is going to be in a Right State with his face gurning all over the place, wringing his hands and trying not to weep! That will be worth seeing!

I just love the hysteria of it and the fact that they want it so bizarrely much. I've wanted loads of things in my life but none of them enough to make me want to humiliate myself in front of millions nor shake my enormous tuckuss in the face of the public in a shocking green satin dress ARRGGHHHHHH!

ALW's face worries me when he watches the half dressed lovelies - DH said on Saturday night when he was gurning - 'Do you reckon that is his come face?' - Bleugh!

I think Jodie is good and the right age to play Nancy.

What do people think about Kevin Spacey criticising the BBC for having these audition programmes at all?

Personally I think it's a good idea but they should give it a rest after this one. I did feel sorry for Amy being chucked off - not that I disagreed about her being the least able to fulfil the role - but it did seem unnecessarily humiliating to lose just one out of the 12.

ALW is only pervy because of the bizarre facial contortions he makes all goggle eyes and open mouthed... just looks unpleasant imho, therefore pervy!!

I think Spacey has a point, certainly, there is something arguably dubious about promoting so many shoes ALW is associated with. But, on the other hand, these musicals are the massively popular ones and would probably succeed any way.

Also Spacey does what all the arts do up to a point, which is to use stars to sell tickets. e.g. Jeff Goldblum. The shows Spacey puts on that he appears in do better than the ones with the unfamous as far as I read recently.

1 out of 12 seems unfair but I missed that eviction. I thought Amy was obviously a sweetheart but as I've said I cannot forgive that green dress and the dancing!

Well, since this is the ALW thread (the post about his 'come' face was just too much, btw - tears of laughter):

Dh, ds and I went to see Joseph last night! Finally!

And we had a fabulous time and it was gloriously completely over the top and I didn't care a bit but just loved it. More to the point, ds had a wonderful time too and sorry, Mr Spacey, until you do a play my 5 yr old will a) sit through and b) really love, ALW gets my cash for the foreseeable future!

I can't remember if it was Spitting Image who made a big thing of ALW having a very flat face. I thought he looked fairly normal myself and now just looks like a middle aged man.

He comes across as quite human to me.
