Anyone watching this?
no spoilers but I’m already on episode 3 and love it!
Just George’s smile is melting me….

Harlots does 18th century society far better, with more realistic race relations.

However, I'm loving the Lady Danbury character background.

O. M. G. I totally fell for George too. Didn’t realise it was only 6 episodes long. Big heaving sobs when it ended.

How could they do this to me. I need more. Lined up well for Victoria me thinks. Will await that series next.

I just watched this and the penny only dropped at the very end that I'd been watching 2 storylines/timelines. I was totally confused and couldn't understand why there were 2 queens 🤣

I enjoyed it despite clearly being very dense and not being able to follow the plot!

KillingMeDeftly · 07/05/2023 17:22

I'm really enjoying this. I actually like it better than I did the original
Bridgerton.

Have you not watched the first 2 bridgerton series?

I binged it in 2 days. Absolutely loved it!

I was about to say "didn't the differnt costumes give you a clue?" But actually most of the people we spent time with in the "present day" were the women of the older generation who were still clinging to the fashions of their youth, so that wasn't as obvious as it might have been. Did you think that young Brimsley's fat uncle was working in another palace?

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 07/05/2023 21:06

@FiloPasty yes! I've watched them both 🤣 I just didn't realise that we were looking at everyone when they were younger 🤣 It didn't click with me at all until the very last scene.

Same here. I thought it was brilliant and very sad.

KillingMeDeftly · 07/05/2023 21:15

Lady Danbury's forbidden love affair (I won't say with who!) was very poignant too.

MakesMeFeelSad · 07/05/2023 21:31

I binge watched it Saturday. Really enjoyed it. Can't wait for season 3 of bridgerton now

midnightblue12 · 07/05/2023 21:33

I'm just about to watch the last episode and I'm gutted it's over!
I have really really enjoyed it! I just wish there was a few more scenes of Charlotte and George being happy together earlier on.

midnightblue12 · 07/05/2023 23:15

Just watched the last episode 😭😭😭😭😭

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 07/05/2023 23:21

Anything would be an improvement on the dismal season 2, but I’m not in a hurry to watch.

winelove · 08/05/2023 00:00

Loved Brigerton, loved this.
I had a tear in my eye at the end. Loved all the characters ❤️

Wednesdaysotherchild · 08/05/2023 02:05

It was ok but I much prefer Bridgerton proper. It was too schmaltzy and superficial and I didn’t like the guy playing the king at all. I didn’t feel any chemistry. The young queen was great though. Felt that the side story of Lady Danbury shagging Violet’s dad was somewhat cheesy (is that in the books?). The score was not as good either.

In short, it was no way near as good as B Season 2, which I absolutely loved!

binge watched 4 episodes last night... Overall enjoying it.

Finding treatment of KG for his illness very distressing. Knew this happened but it's very uncomfortable. Episode 4, revised flashback, was also meh for me.

I binge researched the real KC & QCC & of course lots of key details were different (forgetting about race, like QCC was older than him) but ok, this is a fantasy-verse, so different is ok & lots is pretty similar. It would have been cool if they spoke German b4 arriving in England... QCC really did discourage her daughters from marrying. The only thing annoying me is the inclusion of young Violet, because she's very obviously not 65yo+ in main series, but will ignore the alternate chronology anyway.

To be fair, they’re all way too young, the baby Victoria being announced as on the way means that Prince George would be 56, Prince Edward 51.

Queen Charlotte should be dead or about to die tbh, she died 7 months before Queen Victoria was born and they said they waited to make sure she was pregnant and Charlotte was 74 and king George would have been 80.

The actress that plays older Queen Charlotte is younger than the actress that plays violet bridgerton.

So none of their ages make sense.... and they make a point of Charlotte saying she’s 17 when they’re married, which is right, so it’s even weirder that they’re all way too young later, lol.

So including violet makes about as much sense with the ages as anyone else’s.

I think it’s a shonda thing, the ages in grey’s make absolutely no sense either and there’s no reason for that, there’s no historical events getting in the way.

KillingMeDeftly · 08/05/2023 07:32

Yes, the princes were about 30 years too young and 20kg too light than they would've been in real life!

Hels20 · 08/05/2023 07:52

In episode 3, when George and Charlotte are in bed and they agree “no more even or odd days. Just days” she apologises for her behaviour - what is she meant to have done wrong? Surely he should be the one issuing the apology.

mondaytosunday · 08/05/2023 08:08

My daughter (17) and I finished it last night, and as she put it, 'it got me in the feels'.
I think it's the best Bridgerton yet.
(We went to Bath last summer and I have a pic of my daughter outside Lady Banbury's house).

She eavesdropped on his private discussion with his mother, and reacted by immediately completely cutting him off. I think she could have done better.

I cried. Oh how I cried.

George was beautiful and young Charlotte was delightfully sassy.

Did I miss if there was an explanation as to what happened to the King’s man? I enjoyed their sub plot more than I would have thought, the poignancy of Brimsley dancing alone.

Yeah I enjoyed the Brimsley plot , don't think there was an explanation, with the dancing on his own I just assumed he died 😳

There's an article saying that the ending planned for them was cut - basically that they'd have hanged if anyone knew.

Yeah back then you would. They hit on it a bit with Lord Wetherby and Henry Granville when he says to benidict that he risks his life every day for love
