Oh I assumed Reynolds had died. I like that idea better rather than they are no longer together.

Same, and I don't know why they wouldn't have shown older him at some point if he was still alive

I read an interview with the actors playing Reynolds and Brimsley yesterday and "Reynolds" said there had been a scene at the end where the older they would walk past each other when the Queen went to see King George (at the end) but it got cut and was never filmed so Reynolds is "about" apparently. But they aren't together which is desperately sad.

WHY did they cut this? I need to know what happened with those two!

Just watched it and found it better than Bridgerton series 2 but I still have the same problem with the QC series, in that it can't quite seem to decide if it wants to have any kind of historical accuracy or be pure fantasy. It sort of straddles the two by cherry picking elements of reality and I find that hard to get past.

The young QC and Lady Danbury are well acted and fun to watch.

What’s wrong with George ? Is it about the madness of king George ? Music good the girl who plays Charlotte seems to pause in between words a lot - will give it a chance but on ep 3

I think for this they are portraying it as a Bipolar type illness though in the original Bridgerton series they hinted at dementia. At the time I think they simply called it madness

I just started reading The Strangest Family, and looking at the family tree, I'm confused why Victoria became queen. There seems to have been two surviving grandchildren born before her (Augustus and Augusta). Wouldn't they have been first and second in line?

They’re two of the “illegitimate whore babies”

Their mother was his mistress an actress - they had 10 children together.

Any issue of William IV was illegitimate...

Victoria's position in the succession was determined by her fathers, so that even though they were older, they were lower in the ranks as in the current RF Beatrice and Eugenie outrank Zara and Peter because their father was the second son

The Duke Of Kent was the fourth son but George's heir Princess Charlotte died, Frederick had no issue and Williams didn't count.

I hope I have that right get back to me if not.

Mrs Jordan's Profession is a fascinating book

She was used extremely ill by William who deserted her to poverty as soon as she hit menopause and was no longer a cash cow.

Seems a few of them had marriages that were annulled because they were never approved by the king etc

As to line of succession,
George the oldest son had Charlotte who died in childbirth
Then Prince fredrick 2nd son had no children
Prince William ,3rd son had 10 illegitimate children
Prince Edward, 4th son had Victoria

I think there was another 3 or so heirs born to the younger sons but they obviously came behind Victoria in the line of succession

MakesMeFeelSad · 17/07/2023 22:53

Prince Augustus who I think was the 6th son had Augustus and Augusta with Lady Augusta (could they not think of any other names ) but the marriage was annulled after a year because it wasn't approved by king george 🙄 he remarried after she died but again not under the royal marriage act so that wasn't legitimate either

Augustus and Augusta were the children of Augustus, one of the younger sons of George III. I just assumed the oldest grandchild (more specifically grandson) would be ahead of Victoria in line to the throne?

No because the line of succession goes down through their parents , well the male ones back then rather than the grandchildrens age
