Was on Friday night , bbc one and stars Daisy May Cooper ( this country , taskmasters) Thought I'd start a spoiler thread as it's all on the I player and I know a few of us have binged it! I did love this. It had an unusual manic start , but it grew in me and seeing the different episodes through a different lens was clever I felt sorry for her with Alex and how easy it was for her to fall for his charms.

Might be totally wrong but the way I see the cat thing...

Ollie was pissed off at the cat because of his shitty birthday present (cat outfit) Then he saw his mum and uncle going to the laundry room to feed the cat. But the cat was so 'greedy' that it took ages to feed the cat and they started doing rude things. Totally the cats fault.

Then uncle dies and mum checks out. Ollies birthday is coming around again which reminds him of his last birthday. He's angry at the cat and his uncle so he takes the uncles present and puts it on the cat and decides to punish the cat. He is his mother's son.

I hate the storyline about the cat but it's presumably done to show how Nic's behaviour is shaping her son and Nic feels she can't be angry at him because of her own secret.

That was an interesting read, with none of the humans being injured until,,, I got to the bottom and it said about how a dog died in 2018 😢😢😢

I think
Ollie's 8th birthday - cat costume and finds out his Mum and Alex are shagging
Immediately/fairly soon after - things between Nic and Alex disintegrate. It appears she is waiting for him at the station as she knows he'll be catching that train, he isn't happy to see her and wants her to leave him alone so he can get on - then they end up swapping places as he tells her it was all to get at Dan and the. She kills him
His memorial is a year later after Ollie's 9th birthday. I think Suzie even says it's been a year when she talks to Dan about getting a box at the football
I think Ollie killed Mr Meowgi when he did because imagine it - out of the two people he is angry with, one is his Mum and one dies, making his Dad really sad etc. Who does he have to take it out on?
I think his feelings fester and then come to a head around a year later (as they do for Nic too). Mr Meowgi has only been missing a few days when the series start (you can hear Nic muttering on her walk around the village when she's avoiding Viv).
And maybe the cat costume and the cat itself are the last things connected to his uncle and that day - the day he found out about them - and he just wants to erase them both.
I think Alex was responsible for the cat costume present as Suzie bought him a much better one a year later.
So Ollie is erasing all traces/witnesses/connection to something he doesn't want to remember, just like Nic does in her mind.
Hence "you're just like me and that scares me"

I'm going to have to watch this again, to make everything make better sense. I think I get it...

I'm not usually very quick at picking up nuances or seeing twists coming, but something made me think that Dan is Harry's dad? Or did I make that up?

I don't think Dan is Harry's dad either. I'd be open to the possibility of Ollie being Alex's son if it were not for the fact we saw Ollie as a baby at the wedding and Nic was surprised by Alex declaring his love for her so I don't think the affair started before the wedding.

Me three! I think that it's Alex who's the dad. Also as far as memorials go, maybe they couldn't have a funeral in the true sense of the word as there wasn't a body due to the nature of his death. The memorial could have taken place at anytime after his demise.

She seemed very surprised and it coloured her whole experience of the day so I definitely think it was the first time.

Ooo ooo ooo one night stand with Alex resulted in nic getting pregnant with Ollie. A year or so later she meets Dan who is NOT happy that the father of (what he thinks as should be a docile and compliant) girlfriend's son is his brother. Alex makes it clear to Dan that he is not interested in Nic but implies somehow that she prefers him in bed
