A spin-off from the Torchwood thread where there seem to be lots of people reminiscing about the good ole days of Buffy and Angel and the genius that is Joss Whedon.

I sometimes feel strange confessing to being a Buffy fan in RL at the age of 36 but I love both it and Angel. So if you need somewhere to swap favourite moments, this is the thread!

My fave angel episode was the one with the puppets..and the one where Angel dances but can't dance. I really didn't like David Boreanaz (sp) before that, but realised he must have a sense of humour, cos he could laugh at himself. Now like him a bit more. He's too handsome for me though. Give me Xander any day!
Please....just for an hour even?!?

chrissnow · 23/01/2008 14:37

Excellent thing about xander is that in rl he has an identical twin!! Double the yummy!!! - Reminds me - good episode with the xander being split in two. Especially Anya wanting to keep them for experiments!!

Kitti · 23/01/2008 17:07

I foud Hush really scary!! . Loved Angel and Buffy but agree last season Buffy wasn't so great and Season 4 of Angel with Cordelia being evil was abit crap (I guess they had to think of soemthing with her being pregnant). I thought Season 5 actually got better and was disappointed with it being cancelled. I'm afraid I liked Charmed as well though! Also watched Firefly. Faith was always my fave character and Anya and Xander.

slayerette · 23/01/2008 19:29

Ooh - two Xanders. Love Anya's comments about wanting to keep the two of them for a while!

Flame - make sure you scroll down and click on all the links.

But after the children are in bed

Oh, oh, ooooh - great thread, how did I miss it?

It did all tail off towards the end (Buffy and Angel) but I think that was down to Joss Whedon getting distracted with Firefly (which I thought was ace) and SMG getting too big for her boots and deciding she wanted to do films and not be Buffy anymore.

We were so cheated of a final solution to the Buffy/Angel he gets his leg over and goes baaaaaaad dilemma.

We have all of Buffy on VHS (they take up a lot of room and we don't have a video connected to the TV any more but I can't bring myself to get rid - waiting for the DVDs to be in The Works dead cheap) and most of Angel. And "Once More With Feeling" on DVD. I haven't let my kids watch any of them but we do listen to the CD of OMWF in the car - I love it when they sing "his penis caught diseases from a Shumash tribe..."

Likeasow · 23/01/2008 20:20

DB dancing on the extra cuts on the DVD is brilliant - proper sad Dad disco dancing - I loved him even more from that moment.
The clips on YouTube are addictive - thats the version of Smashed on the DVD isn't it - remember being shocked by how 'adult' Buffy had got - bloody great it was. Spike always had more sex appeal than Angel - he is more of a romantic swishy coated hero - Spike much more naughty
anyone excited for tonights Torchwood? JM in it?
I liked Firefly too...Whedon did romance in that well too. Shame it ended so abruptly.

MrsTweedy · 23/01/2008 20:29

Oooh look, lots of Spikeyness with a pretty picture!

sfxmum · 23/01/2008 21:28

the dancing ep on Angel was when Cordy had her house warming party wasn't it Angel and Wesley dancing PMSL

spike / xander

Buffy is upset about her mum, and if she turns to me for comfort...well I'm not gonna deny it to her. I'm not a monster

Yes! You are a monster. Vampires are monsters! They make monster movies about them!

well yeah got me there

worley · 23/01/2008 21:45

i to big buffy fan, started watching it for the first season when i had just had ds1 and on maternity leave (9years ago) just finished catching up with the last series of angel while on mat leave with ds2, i was sitting there every day watching it with ds2 waking for a bf then off to sleep again, what a good first few months they were!!

RustyBear · 23/01/2008 22:07

Another Buffy moment on Torchwood - that bit in the titles with the five of them walking towards the camera with the billowy coat - it's the bit after Spike killed his first Slayer in the Boxer rebellion.

slayerette · 23/01/2008 22:24

Rustybear, that is my single favourite image from the entire series (the Buffy moment, not the Torchwood one ). So cool. And even cooler when you see it on Angel and realise that at that moment Angelus is in fact Angel, iyswim.

Mrs Tweedy - loved those quotes. Must remember the 'paralysed with not caring very much' when Yr 10 are being particularly difficult. And 'for the safety of puppies'!

slayerette · 23/01/2008 22:25

Thought the exact same thing though when I saw Captain Jack's coat billowing - ooh, it's Angel!

OP posts:
RustyBear · 23/01/2008 22:35

The safety of puppies one should have been white though - it was post-chip

RustyBear · 23/01/2008 22:37

Taken out of context, my last post is possibly the most incomprehensible thing I have ever typed......

slayerette · 23/01/2008 22:52

That should be a new MN game - this is one post: what's the rest of the thread about?!

OP posts:
MamaD · 24/01/2008 10:12

Bit like the billowing coat moment - cannot remember the name of the ep. but when Xander and 4 others get possesed by hyenas. The scene where they are walking up the steps out of school (in a pack) and just generally looking cool, evil and well 'ard lol.

Fancied Xander at that moment....

sfxmum · 24/01/2008 10:17

The Pack that is or the demise of principal Flutie

AnnakeyRules · 24/01/2008 14:27

Oh, I loved the 'double Xander' episode- so clever! Lol when Giles looks over at the 2 Xanders giggling together, and says "Hmm... it appears that Xander is a bad influence on himself..."

Likeasow · 24/01/2008 15:21

Hey Buffy friends - or fellow potentials - what happened to the rumours of a BBC spin off written by Whedon called 'Ripper' starring Giles - just found an old Guardian Guide discussing series 6 and it mentions that, an Xbox game and an animation - all with the original characters voices (except SMG - too big?) . Would be so good. If they had him in to write Torchwood would improve it no end - I have read that he is a Dr Who fan - and as we have all said his influence is all through Dr Who and Torchwood now. Tortured lonely hero - the only one of his kind (or is he....?)
A BBC spin off would be so good - especially with original members......ah well you can always dream (said in Gilbert the Alien's Geordie voice)

slayerette · 24/01/2008 16:20

Oh MamaD I love that moment! The only time poor Xander is raised from best friend/brother status to sexy! Guess it's not just Buffy who likes a bit of monster in her man

OP posts:
needmorecoffee · 24/01/2008 16:22

I never realised it was Nicholas Brendons identical twin brother who was the other Xander. Who of thunk it!

willow · 24/01/2008 16:40

Funnily enough, I am also a big fan...

TheHonEnid · 24/01/2008 16:41

slayerette · 24/01/2008 18:13
