@60smusic you know what I felt about Saturday's episode is that is was 100% what Casualty has become - entirely staff focused.

There was no focus on patients- as in we didn't see the lead up to whatever caused them to go to casualty and just got them from when the paramedics arrived.

This. The whole point of Casualty is guessing who and how the deaths will be. We could have seen the lads chasing the bull and so on, though I suppose it's far cheaper to have them just talking about it.

spiderlight · 05/05/2023 08:30

@EBearhug - in the good old days we would have seen a 90-year-old man with one leg climbing a ladder on his own to rescue a cat, and then the ladder would have wobbled and made him look up and over the fields, and then he would have seen the lads chasing the bull. I used to love the 'spot the victim' twists!

LIZS · 06/05/2023 21:08

Do Bomb Squad not wear fire retardant suits?

spiderlight · 06/05/2023 21:23

You'd think that would be a no-brainer! They're usually in big armoured suits and helmets.

LIZS · 06/05/2023 21:29

And he had full balaclava but never thought to even offer Jpdie a surgical mask.

Lifeispassingby · 06/05/2023 22:08

Having spent 9hours in A&E on a Friday night recently with DH Casualty resembles nothing like a real life A&E department that’s for sure!

Quia · 06/05/2023 23:44

With the whole hospital to go to in order to work on the child, why did Max choose to go into the area where the phosphorus bomb was?

And was anyone else thinking, when Faith ran out of the staff room, "Aha, she's left all her pills scattered around, that's coming back to bite her"? Only it looks like it isn't, grrr.

Daftnotstupid · 07/05/2023 00:27

I love it when Casualty goes silly like they did tonight

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 07/05/2023 08:08

So many plot holes in that but really enjoyed the entire lack of Jacob (who, of course, would have believed that it was his responsibility to defuse the bomb and save BOTH critical patients with one hand while fending off the bomb squad with the other).

Had a sneaky crush on the lovely soldier even without his fire-retardant suit - would love to see something develop between him and Jodie 😆

Me too. Can happy take staff story lines when they are in this sort proportion to other stories in an episode.

Obviously Annoying Nurse is going to think Max and Jodie are having an affair. Bet he'll be a right arse about it, especially to Jodie, despite her being overly complimentary about his behaviour in resus.

@TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross I too had same thoughts about the solider.

LIZS · 07/05/2023 10:09

Was it not Ryan who showed a nasty side taking credit for Cam's diagnosis, so he will be difficult having spied on Jodie/Max.

spiderlight · 07/05/2023 12:00

Teddy's back at work quickly, given that he was still in hospital last week after being shot!

Hellocatshome · 07/05/2023 12:09

Just catching up now. Bomb squad guy seems really creepy to me. I cant even begin to go over how many stupid things happened in this episode.

Walkingtheplank · 08/05/2023 10:18

Why does Faith crush her pills? Why doesn't she just swallow them?

It works quicker I think

She did just swallow them in Saturday's episode. Works faster if you crush them. It's why you're not supposed to crush paracetamol.

bizzey · 08/05/2023 23:47

I never understood those directions of swallowing whole before .
I mean I never wondered why they were instructions ...I was never going to chew my paracetamol anyway ....
I was lucky if I could swallow it in one attempt!

Thinking about it ...not sure they should be showing all this crushing of tablets really .

LouisCatorze · 09/05/2023 14:17

Didn't we see Faith snorting the crushed 'powder' earlier in this season? You couldn't be snorting whole tablets that's for sure. And presumably, very thin mucous membrane in the nose would work well for a much quicker hit than swallowing them.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/05/2023 14:39

Saturday was silly. Esp the bomb soldier and nurse

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/05/2023 20:42

Oh part of my post went missing

Silly as soldier wasn't in any bomb protective gear

The other male trainee is def showing self as selfish

I loved Jed and Jodie! Just a fantastic connection.

His clothes did protect him, he obviously didn't get fully burned like the mud guy. And he ran a long way on fire so don't think he'd have made it if there wasn't some protection.

No idea why they had to fill up a wheelie bin though they usually carry stuff that can do a better job.

Although surely Max should've been there when she came out since he obviously does care for her a bit. Looking forward to all the drama 🤣

Bomb squad protection usually involves more than army uniform and a balaclava. Also if putting it in the wheelie bin full of water was going to work why didn't they wheel the wheelie bin closer to them rather than making them walk to it?

I hope we don't see Jed again I didnt find him charming like we were obviously supposed to.

Daftnotstupid · 09/05/2023 21:01

Why a wheelie bin? Why not a bucket or a plastic storage box? A wheelie bin seemed excessive.

purpleme12 · 09/05/2023 21:02

It's best not to ask too many questions about these things and just enjoy it for what it is! 😂

Definitely true, overall it felt like a good episode to me.

Am very annoyed about eurovison next week!
