It's back. I struggled to get in to series 1 at first, but then I got hooked. I am so ready for this escapist drama.

OP posts:

@ChardonnaysPetDragon

Is it me or was Colin more good looking in season 1? He looks like a chipmunk now/
He looks like he enjoyed slightly too much taramasalata and kebabs in a taverna in Greece

And the fact that his own brothers and sisters mentioned his chin fluff. It's not a good look

MangshorJhol · 27/03/2022 17:43

As a South Asian person this season is driving me to DISTRACTION.
What is this word ‘Bon’??? It is pronounce BONE not BONNE. In Bengali and means little sister.
But the Sharmas are North Indian.
And they call their father APPA like South Indians.

Also did any one else notice the theme tune of Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham????

That’s bad!

Unless they are supposed to be from different parts/mixed background? Also you’d think the actors who are south Asian themselves would have known this and said something!

BiscuitLover3678 · 27/03/2022 18:37

Am I the only one who likes Kate? I think she’s stunning!

Why have they toned down the sex? I don’t mind but surely that was their usp? 😂

What’s the order of the next characters?

I also swear Daphne’s child was Arthur but in season 2 she said Auggie and then I read that apparently in the books it’s a girl and that’s quite important for the plot! Annoying how they change things.

BiscuitLover3678 · 27/03/2022 18:49

On episode 4. Finding it hard to think Anthony can ever be good enough for Kate but let’s see!

When is series 3 due?

Sunshinegirl82 · 27/03/2022 19:10

Anthony is meant to be a bit damaged and unreasonable in the books although fundamentally pretty decent really underneath. I think that's come across in the series quite well.

If it follows the order of the books it is Benedict's story next and then Colin's and then Eloise. I'm wondering if they might condense the stories a bit or swap them round as there seemed to be more of a focus on Colin's love life than Benedict's in Season 2 although we shall see!

According to the internet, filming for season 3 starts this summer so i'd assume it will be released in 2023?

tiredanddangerous · 27/03/2022 19:16

I've binged it over the weekend. Disappointing and nowhere near as good as the first series. The Kate/Anthony storyline was completely predictable.

I'm only in it for Daphne at this point!

SapatSea · 27/03/2022 19:24

I thought Kate was absolutely stunning too. I thought Anthony was a tool - if he didn't need a bride with a dowry then he could have switched his attention to Kate earlier or just not asked Edwina to marry him so soon. Boo hoo, poor baby having to balance the extremely rich family books and raping women for money when he felt like it - I wouldn't want his rancid todger anywhere near me.

It seems awfully easy for the girls like Eloise and Pen to be out and about alone with no chaperones, never assualted, never robbed. I kept thinking of Kate wandering around the house in her nightdress or going out into the park or gardens in the early morning alone (as if?) if it were Outlander she'd have been raped.

Also, why would the dressmaker assume that Pen was Lady Whistledown just because she saw her in the market (did she even see her at the print block stall?)

kavalkada · 27/03/2022 19:28

It seems like I'm the only one who loves Kate and Anthony much more than Daphne and Simon.

Daphne and Simon had lot of sex on ten different surfaces in first season, but I have never seen any real chemistry between two of them.

Anthony and Kate, on the other hand, their chemistry is off the charts.
Just that almost kiss at the end of the third episode had more chemistry than everything Simon and Daphne did.

And Kate is gorgeous and they look wonderful together. I loved Bridgerton the first season, but I have only seen it once. This season I plan to repeat.

There are things that annoy me. I think they picked the wrong music for this season. It had sense in tha last season, but not in this one. It just didn't work.

And Eloise, what a whiny brat. Must be the actress who doesn't know what to do with her hands. She is only bearable in scenes with Benedict. Penelope told her the truth in that last scene together. She is all talk, and zero action. And she talks a lot.

Anyway, I liked it, although screenplay is definitely not the strong point of Bridgerton. Simone and Jonathan did their best. And he was amazing. The way he portrayed broken Anthony was amazing.

I can't wait for the third season. I hope they will do Benedict and Sophie and not Penelope and Colin (he really is a wet lettuce).
But Sophie is the best of the Bridgerton spouses and Benedict is the best of the brothers, so I can't wait for their season.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 27/03/2022 19:28

I’ve read most of the books, and I don’t like the changes they made to the plot for the programme. All the falling out between the sisters is not true to the original - nor is the one between Pen and Eloise.

They are going to need another series to try to tidy up the mess they made at the end of this one - and I suspect it will just spiral further out of control.

But I love the backdrops and the costumes, so I’m sure I will watch whatever they choose to make. Blush

GuyFawkesDay · 27/03/2022 19:33

S3 shoots soon, for release early next year. It a big shoot!!!

Fernsinthegarden · 27/03/2022 19:55

@Febrier and @SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius it’s The Bill & Ted Test on Twitter and they cover loads of regency costuming and link to all sorts.
I’d advise only reading when you have some time on your hands as it’s a wonderful wormhole to get lost down!

GreekGod · 27/03/2022 20:46

I didn’t like Kate at all. Just seems to be trying too hard. No chemistry between her and Anthony. Much preferred Simon and Daphne.

Loved the storyline with Penelope’s family and the Penelope/Eloise dynamic

MinglingFlamingo · 27/03/2022 21:14

Also, why would the dressmaker assume that Pen was Lady Whistledown just because she saw her in the market (did she even see her at the print block stall?)

I feel like Penelope walked into that one. If she hadn't said anything Mme De la Croix wouldn't have said anything she's far to discreet and anyway probably didn't think much about it anyways

cathyandclare · 27/03/2022 22:23

I love the chemistry between Kate and Anthony. I'm only on episode 6 and can't work out how they're going to rescue the situation with Edwina.

Love the potential between Eloise and Theo and also Benedict' character development- he's been v funny ( and sexy ) this season

bonfireheart · 27/03/2022 22:24

I thought Benedict last season might be gay but don't think it's going that way lol.

Silverclocks · 27/03/2022 22:46

I watched the refresher bit on the first episode and found I had no memory of what on earth was going on so I've started watching Series 1 again!

KenAdams · 27/03/2022 23:46

We haven't all read the books and I'm disappointed that there are so many spoilers from them on this thread with no warning.

Candlecassie · 28/03/2022 08:11

To be fair, I think the thread does need a spoiler heading. It’s not fair to those who haven’t been able to watch 8 hours worth in 2 days.

Trixiefirecracker · 28/03/2022 08:16

I binged watched it snd was massively disappointed. However did think Kate was beautiful and that her and Anthony had great chemistry. Just found it all a bit repetitive and dragged out.

Selma22 · 28/03/2022 08:38

Loved the books but very disappointed at how the events were changed.I jnderstnad that they needed to fill 8 episodes with stuff and events in the book alone wouldn't have done it but the Kate and Anthony storyline missed important events in the development of their attraction to each other and then jumped to to them loving each other. The book was better.
Also could have kept the sex scene more tasteful.
Actress chosen to play Kate is so beautiful but don't think acted that well ,especially the angry, frustrated scenes..in this story there are many.
Let's hope Sophie and Benedicts story is written for screen better. My favourite book out of the series

Selma22 · 28/03/2022 08:40

Also interested to see what they are going to do for Colin and Penelope. She is meant to change a lot ...is the actress going to loose a lot of weight ?Currently she looks like his little sister

Loopytiles · 28/03/2022 09:00

Those complaining about spoilers: the plot is hardly surprising!

CotswoldWoolly · 28/03/2022 09:18

I’m rewatching (sad I know!). The chemistry between the leads is fantastic, though perhaps not as much as Anthony and Siena last season. But then different relationship, Kate being a ‘lady’, etc. On second viewing, I don’t mind the changed storyline as much (just how many Bridgertons can marry through being ‘compromised’ after all.) But where it falls down for me is the lack of humour in Kate’s character, and the missed opportunities to show that side of her, or Anthony’s kindness. For example, the vignette with Pen when Cressida is cruel to her.
Hopefully we might see more of their relationship next season, as they’ll hopefully not be doing a disappearing duke act…
I also thought Edwina had good chemistry with Mr Dowsett. I thought the wedding might have been called off because that relationship developed and she realised she’d been dazzled by expectation.

GreatOak · 28/03/2022 09:33

S2 - oh dear. Everything that made S1 unique & fun & watchable was gone in S2. Difficult to get behind a romance between two people who have (IMO) not an ounce of on-screen chemistry between them and because their romance ended up hurting another person, they came across as deeply unlikeable, selfish, and therefore unattractive.

Netflix does this a lot: S1 brilliant, S2 disappointing. Then limp through S3 and S4. It doesn’t bode well.
