It's back. I struggled to get in to series 1 at first, but then I got hooked. I am so ready for this escapist drama.

Flowers are so beautiful but yes

Everything is so sanitised and clean

There was just so little joy or lightness in this season. Bored of the Lady Whistledown drama, found Edwina irritatingly stupid, didn’t enjoy Kate and Anthony’s nose rubbing with weird camera angles in an attempt to convey chemistry that just wasn’t there and individually they both pissed me off with how rigid they are.

Binged watched series 2 over a few days last week and enjoyed it.

Daphne never really clicked with me in series 1 -possibly because I read the book first and so her character didn’t fit with my image of her - too die-eyed and passive.

Series 2 was good escapism. I thought that Edwina only came alive towards the end. Kate - mixed feelings , sometimes bland, sometimes more animated.

Anthony - swoon, definitely does more for me than the viscount, and Benedict, even more so.

I quite like Elouise, and I felt her mannerisms and less graceful air suited her character. Penelope I felt was truest to the book - overlooked, romantic etc. in many ways, she is the main character of the book.

Why has no-one mentioned Cousin Jack - loved his character and was slightly disappointed he was written out.

Lady Featherington - thought she was superb. So strong and determined.

Not RTFT but TIL that the actress who plays Daphne is the daughter of Corrie's Sally Webster 🤯.

Late to the party but nonetheless: I enjoyed this season more than the first as I think the lead couple have sizzling chemistry and are both gorgeous. I never really warmed to Daphne. The almost kiss/forbidden stuff was very steamy but I think it went to far with him literally getting to the altar with Edwina, he should have let her off the hook long before it got that far.

Book spoilers ahead: I am glad they changed it from the book. Daphne and Simon's story was very true to the book, but Kate and Anthony's is very similar. I.e. they're forced to marry because of being found in a compromising position, both are secretly happy about it but the husband doesn't want to for reasons to do with his father, they fall in love and do exactly what they vowed not to do. It would have been very repetitive. Also the bee scene in the book is bizarre - trying to suck the venom out?! And much better in the show. The library scene would have been better as it was in the book.
