The first episode will air on 28th February. I think this is the last season. I'm going to state up front this thread will contain spoilers.

My plan is to watch the last episode of season 3 to refresh my memory.

Oh I read “The Thursday Murder Club” and I imagined Fiona Shaw’s Carolyn as Elizabeth!

CarolynMartens · 29/03/2022 00:05

After their hug I wondered if that meant it was the end for Konstantin, I wasn’t expecting that!

beguilingeyes · 29/03/2022 06:55

I really enjoyed that episode. I'll be sorry to see it go.

the80sweregreat · 29/03/2022 11:06

Spoilers for episode on bbc I player now ;

Who has put that arrow in Villanelle?
.. that made me jump and poor Eve just looked devastated!
She can't be dead ? Surely not ?
Carolyn being one of the 12 is a shocker unless I just didn't pick up on the clues?
I am still confused though and feel I need to watch them all again !

Quppity · 29/03/2022 12:01

I knew they would want to put a twist in like Carolyn being one of the 12 after all. But I thought that seems a bit of an obvious twist to use. I googled and it says there are 10 episodes in season 4 so I can’t imagine they will kill villanelle at this point ?

the80sweregreat · 29/03/2022 12:53

There are 8 episodes apparently this season ( just looked online)

blobby10 · 29/03/2022 13:05

I'm struggling with this series - watched ep 4 and really couldn't care less about what happens next which is really disappointing as I loved S1 and 2 and couldn't wait for the next episode.

Might give it another go after reading some of the posts here though

BakeOffRewatch · 29/03/2022 13:16

I think the episodes show in USA a week beforehand so episode description for next week is up on IMDb, bit spoiler-y so avoid if you don’t want to know. www.imdb.com/title/tt7016936/episodes?ref_=tt_eps_sm

Shows 8 episodes.

MissBattleaxe · 30/03/2022 17:32

The quality of this series is so poor that I doubt it would have got made if it had been the pilot. I've been watching it really carefully and still finding it hard to follow. There are four different storylines going on and they all seem only very weakly connected.

Young Carolyn looked like Helene so it took me a while to realise what was going on until someone used her name. Then another character was called Karolina but Carolyn was also know as Janice back then. Also who is working for who? Who does Konstantin work for now? Has Carolyn gone rogue? Is Villanelle doing Rentokil on bad husbands in Cuba?

I adore the cast but they are being poorly served here with shoddy structure, plots and scripts.

Quppity · 30/03/2022 18:31

Agreed

Mooserp · 30/03/2022 18:45

I thought young Carolyn looked like her daughter.

the80sweregreat · 30/03/2022 18:49

I thought that Carolyn in the flashback was Helene too !
I'm lost , plot wise , but I'll hang on till the bitter end , not sure why but the acting is good and V seeing off horrible husbands is funny.

Mooserp · 30/03/2022 19:12

Helene would have been a baby 😄

the80sweregreat · 30/03/2022 19:14

The black and white footage was excellent though , reminded me of old French films for some obscure reason ( not that I am a film buff or seen any b/ w films for years !!)

Madeintowerhamlets · 30/03/2022 23:01

Yes I agree, the young Carolyn looks similar to Gemma Whelan who plays Carolyn’s grown up daughter! I thought the actress playing young Carolyn was really convincing with similar mannerisms. My favourite episode of this series yet although still very confusing!

MissBattleaxe · 31/03/2022 09:00

Helene would have been a baby 😄

Please don't laugh at me. The black and white flashback clips didn't make it instantly obvious that it was the 70s or whose story this was.

the80sweregreat · 31/03/2022 09:34

To be fair , the black and white footage they showed as a flashback in time didn't immediately make it clear who the woman was or what was happening at first!
It is confusing.

Mooserp · 31/03/2022 09:46

Sorry, I didn't mean it to come across as laughing at you. I was surprised at myself for correctly guessing it was Carolyn as I am mostly confused!
Mooserp · 31/03/2022 09:54

I didn't guess that was young Konstantin until they were on the jetty. I think the modern day version is much better looking!

I agree ! I quite fancy the older version , the younger version is a bit meh 😑
floofycroissant · 31/03/2022 13:00

Young Konstantin is actually played by Kim Bodnia's real son!

I enjoyed Ep5 but I think that they are over intellectualising and complicating a lot, with references to earlier seasons and other films e.g. the fishtank scene from Rome and Juliet. The plot is just not as punchy as it once was, but it's also lacking the emotional depth they could have reached by now.

Ah! That's interesting. Must have been fun for him to play the role.

I feel like they are overdoing the quirky visuals and music, maybe to make up for the script not being so good. Is it a different writer each series?

the80sweregreat · 31/03/2022 17:46

I watched episode one of the first series ever today (' nice face ' ) and it really was fab and intriguing. I'd forgotten so much.
I might watch them all again in time.

MissBattleaxe · 31/03/2022 18:07

@Mooserp yes it is a different writer each season. Phoebe Waller Bridge wrote the first one and is still an Exec producer. I also find the quirky visuals and music overdone and quite annoying now. It was brilliant when it started but it's been flogged to death now.

I don't know what is motivating any of the characters. No idea what Eve is up to, pretty sure Carolyn wants revenge, not sure what Konstantin wants, Villanelle doesn't seem to know what she wants apart from Eve. It's just irritating.

the80sweregreat · 31/03/2022 19:01

The music is overbearing.
All these types of dramas do it though.
It is annoying .
