The first episode will air on 28th February. I think this is the last season. I'm going to state up front this thread will contain spoilers.

My plan is to watch the last episode of season 3 to refresh my memory.

I had to re-watch the entire third series before watching this new episode, as I'd forgotten what had happened.

I quite enjoyed this episode, though wasn't overjoyed to see Hugo back. Mind you, I would probably watch any old drivel if it had Fiona Shaw in it; her delivery of her lines is sublime.

the80sweregreat · 06/03/2022 22:01

Fiona Shaw is fabulous.
She has the best lines in this.

NurseButtercup · 08/03/2022 12:45

@the80sweregreat

Fiona Shaw is fabulous. She has the best lines in this.
I agree she's the best part and my main reason for continuing. I love that we have three women one in her 20's, one in her 40's and one in her 60's as the main protagonists leading this series.

Ooops I stand corrected, Sandra Oh isn't in her 40's according to her Wikipedia page she's 51 in July!

I'm a little bit heartbroken because I think it's awful so far. Villanelle's whole storyline...just hideous. Hopefully now that she's away from all that church rubbish it might pick up a bit.

PeskyRooks · 08/03/2022 17:45

Yes. I'm hoping it gets better. I didn't like all the Jesus stuff it was just stupid!
I used to like Eve but I'm finding her really irritating now.

xfgdhfgnhkk007 · 08/03/2022 17:50

Agree the Jesus stuff was stupid. It's verging on the being kooky for the sake of it territory.

And presumably V is no longer working for the 12 so who will cover up the 2 murders she's just just done? She dropped her knife into the grass...

Retq · 08/03/2022 17:55

Yes disappointing to say the least. It was always semi silly but is just ridiculous now. Hoping it improves now she has left the church

MissBattleaxe · 08/03/2022 17:57

Yes I hated the be Jesus stuff. I don't know why they went down that route at all. It was like a daft sketch in the middle of a serious drama. My favourite scenes are the ones with Fiona Shaw on and anytime Helene is on screen. I'm fascinated by how English she sounds.

CatCuddler999 · 08/03/2022 17:57

The Jesus stuff was stupid and felt like the show ‘jumped the shark’ for me.
It makes NO SENSE why Eve is mad at Villanelle. At the end of last season they were smiling at each other on a bridge.
Happy to see Konstantin back. That’s the only positive I’ve got so far.

MissBattleaxe · 08/03/2022 18:04

I agree @catcuddler999 there's a big gap with no explanation and we're supposed to guess or something. It's really annoying.

the80sweregreat · 08/03/2022 19:42

The church stuff wasn't great , but it's just her trying to be good and finding it difficult!!
I think it'll get on track this next episode. I hope so anyway !

PeskyRooks · 15/03/2022 07:37

Watched last night, sadly still not loving it. Almost wish they'd left it at the end of the last series, walking away on the bridge.
Too much chopping and changing between characters. The scenes with Eve and Fernanda just irritating. So much hinges on people meeting Eve and liking her and engaging straight away.
I liked the morgue attendant story line.
I don't like Villanelle flopping about being depressed and I certainly didn't want her to get arrested!

JanisMoplin · 15/03/2022 16:43

Oh god this is just unwatchable. Villanelle and her alter ego are just annoying now. And why would the church keep her around if she is so clearly unhinged, especially after she tried to drown someone? S 1 and 2 were so good; why are the scriptwriters now on acid?

ComDummings · 15/03/2022 21:34

I’m really not enjoying this series either

beguilingeyes · 15/03/2022 23:12

Episode three was better.

louise5754 · 17/03/2022 08:45

I watched the beginning of E1 S4 I couldn't understand why Eve so angry with V. I decided to rewatch the last episode of S3 to understand. I then ended up re watching from S1 and I'm still no clearer.

Who is Carolyn and Eve now working for.

Newgirls · 17/03/2022 08:50

I liked ep1 more than expected after reading this. Some cracking lines. Good cast.

The final bit with the comedy Jesus villanelle wasn’t needed. Could have had her half drown the girl and storm out of the church? Would have been better.

Really like the morgue assistant - she was in that comedy about the band - so good. Looking forward to more Helene. A really great cast so let’s hope the script lets them shine

MissBattleaxe · 17/03/2022 09:11

I love any scene with Helene or Fiona Shaw in. The elephant in the room is why Eve hates Villanelle now when the end of Series 3 say them unable to leave each other. This doesn't look like it's ever going to be explained and having emotionally invested in 3 series, I think we deserve to know. The difference in writing is extreme when you think how perfect the first 2 series were.

Tuppity · 17/03/2022 09:11

I also am completely confused about what the plot is now and who eve works for !

MissBattleaxe · 17/03/2022 10:17

I agree @Tuppity. It just seems to be a selection of scenes with no connection or explanation. Something about the Twelve being murdered but nobody has ever found out who they are so by series 4 you kind of stop caring.

Tuppity · 17/03/2022 12:46

Yeah I no longer care who the twelve are. In fact what the twelve are! Are they just supposed to be very senior people who appoint killings? (Sorry am a bit clueless despite having watched all series!)

Newgirls · 17/03/2022 13:12

12 baddies? Who order killings?

A bit like Spectre I guess.

Tonkerbea · 18/03/2022 21:35

The writing really has gone haywire, the only redeeming feature is the cast and their acting ability, which makes it watchable enough but not the compelling viewing it once was.

MissBattleaxe · 20/03/2022 00:36

I agree @Tonkerbea. It's as if Carolyn is still in Killing Eve and everyt else is in some bizarre spin off for
