The first episode will air on 28th February. I think this is the last season. I'm going to state up front this thread will contain spoilers.

My plan is to watch the last episode of season 3 to refresh my memory.

Don't know why I added "for"

MissBattleaxe · 21/03/2022 17:07

Just watched Episode 4 and it feels like a dead horse is being flogged. It feels a bit formulaic with Eve meeting Helene in a big empty theatre and Villanelle being freed from jail for another job. I love this series and all of the cast but it feels like they're using a checklist of set pieces.

BakeOffRewatch · 21/03/2022 20:05

Going against the thread here, wanted to wait til past the episode critics said it picked up at.

I really like it. Yes the Jesus diversion was weird but it laid the narrative baseline for Villanelle’s redemption venture and what’s going on inside her.

The series hasn’t made sense since the beginning of season 2, so I’m ok with that continuing. Series 1 was a very different show, more international crime thriller, like The Fall. I’ve accepted it isn’t that show anymore and gone along for the ride. It’s a showcase for killer lines, great fashion, visually appealing cinematography and exploring complex female personas and relationships. Plus a bit of humour. I feel we’re getting that in spades. There’s nothing quite else like it on tv with such high calibre acting and I love it.

The series thrives on tension and chemistry between the actors so I’m guessing sequential narrative of Villanelle and Eve from the bridge wouldn’t have served the tv show. We jump to tension and electric scenes between them from the off which I appreciate too.

I've just seen episode four and I am worried that V will kill Eve eventually or the one that the Russian is training up will do it.
I'm confused , but I'll hang on till the even if I've no idea what is really going on

superoz · 22/03/2022 10:04

Have to say I felt a bit bored watching episode 4. There were some funny moments but nothing seemed to happen.
It seemed to be pointless for Villanelle to be arrested at the end of the previous episode, because she just walked straight out with Helene! Just appeared to be used as dramatic license for an episode ending.
It’s all very stylish and great to look at but doesn’t seem to be anything for the characters to do any more.

the80sweregreat · 22/03/2022 10:30

How Carolyn walked away after V hit her with a mallet ( or whatever it was ) was amazing !!
Lol
Who was the man in the restaurant who they thought was dead ?

the80sweregreat · 22/03/2022 10:38

I wonder if it'll be an ambiguous ending ?
We won't know if Eve is dead or not ?
Or something similar !!

Ourlady · 24/03/2022 09:33

We’ll it’s just gone crackers now!
I’m totally and utterly confused by it all.
How could Helene just get V out of jail. Does she have important contacts or something? You can’t just kill 2 innocent people then get off with it.
Why is Eve trying to find the leader of the 12…if that is her objective, I don’t even know and who is she working for?

Quppity · 24/03/2022 14:58

Yeah I have no clue what the plot is any more. I do quite like the Pam side to the story though. Actress does a good job and I think this storyline could be interesting

loveliesbleeding1 · 25/03/2022 14:38

The best bit was definitely Konstantin being pushed off the pier and laughing his head off, I must admit I have no idea what’s happening anymore,it’s lost it’s way.

Quppity · 25/03/2022 15:10

I love Konstantins laugh !

NurseButtercup · 25/03/2022 16:27

I haven't watched episode 4 yet, if I'm honest I struggled to care or be 100% interested the first three episodes. When V was arrested I was completely unbothered & predicted that she would somehow get out. I'm almost ready to give up. I think I'm going to wait until next week & watch episodes 4+5 together maybe there will be some added intrigue & momentum.

I agree about Carolyn’s style, Konstantin’s laugh & Pam being a good addition. I love the fact that it’s fronted by complex female characters. But I have no bloody idea what’s going on anymore & I’m not sure I care! I will continue watching though because I’ve come this far.

CarolynMartens · 26/03/2022 13:12

I agree with a lot of your comments. I do love the outfits and the beautiful locations and interiors. Has Carolyn defected? Or did she used to be a double agent? I’m so confused on that front. And I still miss Kenny.

MsVestibule · 28/03/2022 14:39

I've watched this from the beginning and honestly have no clue what's going on now. Pleased to see it's not just me being a bit thick!

the80sweregreat · 28/03/2022 16:14

Anyone seen this weeks one on I player yet ?
..

Quppity · 28/03/2022 16:30

Yes I watched it

Quppity · 28/03/2022 16:31

Getting a little more interesting. Still pretty weird though

the80sweregreat · 28/03/2022 17:36

It is weird , the black and white footage was well done I thought
I wonder what will become of her now and who did that to her ?
Probably the new girl ?

houselikeashed · 28/03/2022 20:22

can we discuss ep 4 yet?

WobbleTime · 28/03/2022 21:57

I’ve just watched it and am so disappointed. Not even sure I’ll watch to the end of the season (I will, but….. almost can’t be bothered). I used to love this show but it’s just gone a bit rogue (and rubbish). Wish they had stuck with the same writer as season 1 (phoebe w-b?)

MsVestibule · 28/03/2022 21:59

I'm not a Telly Addicts officianado but I would have thought that as it's OK to discuss it?

WobbleTime · 28/03/2022 22:02

Eve has had a personality transplant. Carolyn isn’t nearly as fabulous as she used to be. I miss Kenny. Villanelle just seems to be mentally ill with a terrible wardrobe this season (wtf was going on with all the Jesus in drag?) and even Konstantin’s laugh is losing its charm.
The murders have been unimaginative and I’m not sure what the purpose of Pam is?
Rant over! It’s just a shame, can’t imagine how it will end (ambiguously- I hope not!)

WobbleTime · 28/03/2022 22:03

It’s on iplayer so I don’t see why not?

BakeOffRewatch · 28/03/2022 22:19

I loved it again sorry everyone Grin

SPOILERS AHEAD IF YOU'VE NOT WATCHED EP 5 YET

Ouch so Carolyn’s work led to both her dad dying and her son? Ouch ouch ouch.

It’s all getting very “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” which I didn’t understand at all. I think you have to know a little bit of history, as it’s not outright said, I assume British and Russian operatives were in Berlin at the time to destabilise the country and ensure the split remained so?

I enjoyed seeing the origin stories of Konstantin and Carolyn. How did Johan survive though, seemed like they got him pretty good with the oars. I’m surprised people didn’t like this episode, it was a huge reveal of who “The 12” are? Johan, Carolyn, Konstantin, Karolina with the 5 kids.

I thought the husband-killer storyline was an extension of what Helene said “I don't like weak women. I don't want it for myself. I don't want to see it in others. … I take them from their sorry little lives and I give them power. … you don't know what I do or what I give to them.” . Villanelle is doing the same for the powerless women (I said some might have been opportunistic husband killers who saw a good way to get the job done).

I’m looking forward to what Karolina has made of herself with all that competitive ambition she had with Janice/Carolyn.

I think Carolyn will die before season end, she’s lost her father and son to the trade already.

I note Helene didn’t (order a) shoot to kill.
