These are views you have which you think no one else or at least very few others seem to have!

Mine are:

Superstore - I actually loved Jeff and thought he was hilarious. Sort of wanted him to end up with Mateo Blush

Gilmore Girls - hate Logan with a passion. He reminds me of the really arrogant rich kids I went I uni with. Everyone adored him because he was cute!

Friends - I actually liked Rachel and Joey together (no one hit me!) I felt like they brought out a lovely side to each other and actually respected each other.

Agree with both of these!!
Have just gone back to series 1 again and definitely David is better when he is single.
Hated the Simply the best scene (Patrick doing it was good but David lip syncing not so much)

If it makes you feel better I’m not a fan of either. Get rid of both. SCD and This Morning could do with a big overhaul. I know there’s ‘if it ain’t broke’ etc but there’s old and tired and samey.
Forgothowmuchlhatehomeschoolin · 10/02/2022 08:08

That was in relation to the Schitt's Creek comments not sure where quotes went

Rossnagoose · 10/02/2022 08:11

@Sparklingbrook

The novel isn’t particularly racy’ TBF.
No, it’s not. For one thing, the sex is described only very briefly, matter-of-factly and un-anatomically, and quite often it’s not described at all. The first time they have sex, the narrative skips straight from Marianne arriving at Connell’s house to a month later when they’re discussing CAO applications. Hardly ‘racy’.

In fact, that was one of the problems with the TV adaptation — it clearly felt it needed to depict stuff that was skipped or rated a single sentence in the novel.

I do agree about the ‘abused woman liking nasty bondage guy’ stuff being a cliché.

lollipoprainbow · 10/02/2022 08:20

I think the whole Cosy itv stable needs a clean out, Holly, Phil, Gino, ant and dec etc !!

Sparklingbrook · 10/02/2022 08:21

Yes, I think because the sex in the book was briefly but mainly their thoughts about it then it had to be translated on screen as actions?

Conversations with Friends is due to screen in May I think. I might try and get through the book before then but it's not a page turner by any means.

You’ve just reminded me that I thought Connell’s girlfriend Helen was totally miscast and misplayed in the TV version — the whole point of her in the novel is that she’s thoroughly nice and decent and pretty, and Connell feels like a ‘normal person’ when he’s with her, but they cast Aoife Hinds (Ciarán’s daughter), who’s gorgeous, but quite sullen-looking, and made her less pleasant and more jealous and flouncing than the novel version.

I think I preferred CWF to NP, though it’s ages since I read it, but I can see how it could quite easily become ‘gorgeous young bi student has on-off, heatedly-sexual affair with gorgeous, married, older actor, while her ex-girlfriend has a thing with his writer wife’.

Sparklingbrook · 10/02/2022 09:26

Oh yes the Helen character was definitely less likeable in the tv adaptation. IIRC in the book version she was sporty?

When I started CWF I just didn’t carry on because I realised I didn’t care that much for any of the characters or what happened to them. 🤔

willieversleep · 10/02/2022 09:35

The apprentice is utter shite

StellaGibs · 10/02/2022 09:35

Breaking Bad is shit.

Just turned it on. Why is she almost crying about some piece of moon rock.
Sparklingbrook · 10/02/2022 10:10

Oh wait, stay tuned there's a woman with a fear of custard. Hmm

LadyEloise1 · 10/02/2022 11:26

I hated Fleabag Blush
I disliked Normal People.
I didn't find Friends funny enough to keep watching.
I used to watch Coronation Street and Eastenders but now they make my teeth itch.

Livpool · 10/02/2022 11:28

@NightmareSlashDelightful you take that back about poor Castiel 😱

I wanted him with Stevie for such a long time, even just to fight stereotypes.

But I do love him and Patrick later. Blush it’s just not as funny!

I also liked joey and Rachel, disliked Ross especially in last few seasons.

I hate most 'box sets'

Ozark
Schimt creek
The morning show
Got
Peaky blinders
The good wife

All sucked

lollipoprainbow · 10/02/2022 14:01

@Sparklingbrook it really is nauseating, her dressing room done up like a child with balloons everywhere. She's so spoilt and fussed over Envy

Cheeseandlobster · 10/02/2022 15:21

@Poshjock ooh fabulous!! I wonder what it will be like without Nicola Walker though?

Schitts creek is not a boxset and you are wrong. It is so different from anything else!

Not sure you can use 'box sets' as a genre/lump all boxsetted shows together. The Responder has been boxsetted, as was IIRC Fleabag. They're quite different Grin

IMO The Good Wife was a good programme.

What do you mean by 'box sets'? You're describing a range of completely different programmes which were broadcast on TV channels and streaming services.
Downton57 · 10/02/2022 17:40

Wendy in Ozark was great when she was defending her cubs but greed and power have gone too much to her head and she is now really scary, but Ruth is fabulous. Okay, David and Patrick in Schitt's Creek were less funny than single David, but it was so lovely that they got their happy ending. I try to love Motherland but it could be so much more sharp and witty than it is. However, I remain convinced that Mary Berry is genuinely lovely and charming and Father Ted is utter genius.
