Older people, I suspect *@Leighcloon* People like my old Irish parents would lap it up. He was a fav comedian of them back in the 80s.
My parents are in their 70s, and I have actually seen my mother throw a slipper at the TV screen when she couldn't find the remote when Mrs Brown's Boys came on. She turns off the Late Late if there's a whiff of BO'C.
My MIL, on the other hand, thinks that Brendan O'Carroll in drag as Mrs Brown looks like her SIL.
I mean, I'm not saying fans of it don't exist, because they clearly do, only I don't think I've ever seen anyone come on here and say they love it, even on 'unpopular TV opinions' threads.
My opinions -- I didn't like Fleabag much, apart from the bits that had Kristin Scott Thomas in them (and Hugh Dennis was kind of touching.).
The Crown, despite some excellent acting, is prime forelock-tugging royal apologetics.
Downton Abbey was like Gosford Park after Julian Fellowes had taken all the sting out, and with it all the good bits.
I have a weird fascination with the Yorkshire Shepherdess -- why does she keep having children? Why does she shear sheep in a miniskirt and off the shoulder blouse? What would happen if one of her children was an insanely picky eater, or was clingy and demanded significant individual attention after babyhood?
I'm always more interested in Ben Fogle than in his New Lives in the Wild subjects -- does he bring scads of snacks and eat them secretly at night in whatever little grottage he's been given to sleep in after eating only stewed nettles and squirrel? Do the camera/sound/ production team go to a hotel at night? Or do they all pile in to Ben's bed and say 'These people are REALLY weird'?
