These are views you have which you think no one else or at least very few others seem to have!

Mine are:

Superstore - I actually loved Jeff and thought he was hilarious. Sort of wanted him to end up with Mateo Blush

Gilmore Girls - hate Logan with a passion. He reminds me of the really arrogant rich kids I went I uni with. Everyone adored him because he was cute!

Friends - I actually liked Rachel and Joey together (no one hit me!) I felt like they brought out a lovely side to each other and actually respected each other.

Braces self

Peaky Blinders.
First two seasons were outstanding, then it seemed to become the 'in thing' to watch and all of a sudden a decent script was replaced by lots of slo mo shots of them walking through Birmingham, sparks flying, to twangy guitar music. Style over substance. Disappointing.

IntermittentParps · 07/02/2022 17:50

I don't get Father Ted either.

And Peaky Blinders: I couldn't get past the terrible attempts at West Midlands accents.

JustDanceAddict · 07/02/2022 18:27

@PuppyMonkey

I thought the latest series of Afterlife was absolutely cringeworthy and naff, everybody on social media was weeping buckets saying it was so poignant - the whole thing left me Hmm
There were a few funny bits but no way was it as good as the first two. Still love Penelope Wilton though.
Riverlee · 07/02/2022 18:39

In Big Bang Theory, Penny has zero chemistry with Leonard. She has better chemistry with Sheldon.

Fawlty Towers and Ab Fab were not funny. Neither got The Office either (but love Mrs Brown Boys and Miranda).

PureBlackVoid · 07/02/2022 18:45

I like Ross from Friends. I think Monica is so much more controlling and overbearing than he is, but no one ever seems to complain about her. Especially the episode where she spits her dummy out over Chandler not wanting to blow his savings on the wedding, makes me ragey.

I agree with you on Rachel and Joey, they were sweet together.

I thought Insatiable was funny.

lucylucyapplejuicy · 07/02/2022 18:47

Ozark - I don't get the hate for Wendy, yeah she's a bit bat shit but she's also a badass

VenusStarr · 07/02/2022 18:48

I liked the ending of Dexter. I didn't rate the new blood series, so am going to pretend it didn't happen.

PlanetNormal · 07/02/2022 18:58

The Office wasn’t funny. It was a group of middle class actors & writers sneering at normal people with normal lives who do normal jobs. Ditto the Royle Family. ‘Let’s all laugh at the ghastly plebs. Ha, ha, ha!’

Fuck off you patronising twats.

BiscuitLover3678 · 07/02/2022 19:03

I never got into Big Bang as found the characters cringeworthy stereotypes. And Leonard really wasn’t that nice!

@ChrissyPlummer

Mrs Browns Boys is utter crap. No idea how it keeps getting recommissioned.
Yes!!! And I hated Fleabag too.

Unforgotten was a million times better than Line of duty

Cheeseandlobster · 07/02/2022 19:08

@IntermittentParps

Agree re Peaky Blinders. I so desperately wanted to like it that I tried twice but nope. Not for me.

Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion is an amazing film

TangledUp789 · 07/02/2022 19:11

Miranda was shit

Miranda is embarrassingly bad.

Miranda isn't funny.

This is not an unpopular opinion! Especially not on Mumsnet. I'd like to stick up for Miranda. It's not exactly a sitcom classic, but it's a lot funnier and more watchable than the likes of Motherland, Catastrophe, Mum and Fleabag, which are so beloved on here. It's flawed but it has some great moments. 'Holiday' from series one is a textbook example of the perfect sitcom episode and the one set in the psychiatrist's office was brilliant too.

Hoolihan · 07/02/2022 19:12

Afterlife is mawkish crap.

Fuck off you patronising twats.

Neither Caroline Aherne nor Ricky Gervais were/are middle class.
MermaidEyes · 07/02/2022 19:26

Doctor Who went downhill after Matt Smith - Peter Capaldi was just too old and miserable, and Jodie Whittaker plays the doctor as a bumbling fool trying to be down with the kids and failing (fam). My prediction - if ratings don't go back up with the next doctor the show will be cancelled

I thought the priest in Fleabag was quite hot but agree he was nothing like a real priest would be

Loved You, but far too many plotholes. Joe is not particularly attractive and I didn't like Victoria Pedrettis character, or think she was a particularly great actress despite her rave reviews

Skins should have ended after the first two seasons - can't stand the characters in seasons 3 and 4 (unless someone can tell me it does get better and is worth sticking with?)

Supernatural should have ended waaay before it did....will be interested to see how well The Winchesters will be received....

TangledUp789 · 07/02/2022 19:31

I like Ross from Friends.

I love Ross, he's hilarious. He's easily the funniest character in the second half of the series. I personally think it's pretty dumb how people dislike him for his negative character traits. The funniest sitcom characters generally tend to be deeply flawed and often rather unpleasant individuals. How boring would it be if all sitcom characters acted perfectly at all times? And Ross is actually much nicer than most - he was probably the sweetest and most thoughtful Friend underneath it all.

CrossPurposes · 07/02/2022 19:35

I couldn't get past the first episode of Breaking Bad or The Wire or Succession and one series of The Sopranos was more than enough.

augustusglupe · 07/02/2022 19:41

Mary Berry. Thinks she's the Queen. Looks down her nose at everyone.
Glad she's not on Bake Off anymore. Can't watch anything she's on, patronising, stuck up old cow.

I'm really trying hard to comply with the title of this thread Grin

Theblacksheepandme · 07/02/2022 19:53

Leighcloon
I'm always more interested in Ben Fogle than in his New Lives in the Wild subjects -- does he bring scads of snacks and eat them secretly at night in whatever little grottage he's been given to sleep in after eating only stewed nettles and squirrel? Do the camera/sound/ production team go to a hotel at night? Or do they all pile in to Ben's bed and say 'These people are REALLY weird'?

That made me giggle.

NotYourOscarSpeech · 07/02/2022 20:03

Gina in Brooklyn 99 isn’t funny, she’s rude, lazy and a bully. Ditto April in Parks and Rec. Her and Andy together were arrogant and unpleasant

Yes totally agree. They are both awful characters.

My unpopular opinion is that Malcolm in the Middle is the best sitcom from the US.
Seinfeld et al are too pretentious and tedious.

RedRec · 07/02/2022 20:11

Gilmore Girls is utter shite and the mother's wisecracking is not remotely funny.

VioletLemon · 07/02/2022 20:26

Mrs. Brown is unfunny and the canned laughter is shit.
Miranda- annoying, posh painful & cringe. Loved her in CTM!
Holly & Phil- Please piss off forever off my screen.
Ant & Dec - Goodbye.
Frankie Boyle - V smart and funny.
Kirstie Allsop- Early retrial ASAP.
Piers Morgan- Right about alot of things.
Rita Ora- What's her talent?

VioletLemon · 07/02/2022 20:31

Wendy is full on narcissist and will throw anyone under the bus for power, all rooted in cptsd but she's much worse as a character than Mary. Brilliant acting, love it!!

traintraveller · 07/02/2022 20:41

In big bang theory Sheldon is an absolute dick to his friends.
