These are views you have which you think no one else or at least very few others seem to have!

Mine are:

Superstore - I actually loved Jeff and thought he was hilarious. Sort of wanted him to end up with Mateo Blush

Gilmore Girls - hate Logan with a passion. He reminds me of the really arrogant rich kids I went I uni with. Everyone adored him because he was cute!

Friends - I actually liked Rachel and Joey together (no one hit me!) I felt like they brought out a lovely side to each other and actually respected each other.

@Giggorata

I thoroughly disliked Derek and I’m not keen on Afterlife either. I liked Ricky's earlier stuff much more, and his stand up is v good, but I do wish he would write in collaboration again.

Peter Capaldi was a brilliant, sombre, grown-up Doctor, who was let down by the writing and the writers allowing Clara to be so much to the fore for so long.

They were weird about a lot of the companions, but the stuff with Clara was over the top and often confusing. PC didn't have a chance.

@ChrissyPlummer

Mrs Browns Boys is utter crap. No idea how it keeps getting recommissioned.
I’m fairly sure Brendan O’Carroll must have some huge dirt on the head of Comedy at the Beeb…. Why else would it be made… the only person I’ve heard of who likes it is Mark Steel’s Mum … never met anyone who finds it funny and I live in NZ where comedic appreciation is pretty low.

There are no funny series made these days, last one was Gavin and Stacey…. where are classics of the 80s and 90s, Drop the Dead Donkey etc…

Strictly, I’m a celebrity, love island are desperate and uninteresting….

Motherland - I thoroughly disliked all the characters but still watched it all anyway.

The UK Shameless was considerably better than the USA one is.

Have you watched working moms? If you disliked the characters on motherland these are horrific!

Another one - I do agree with most people that EastEnders is a bit shite (still watch it to tune out after work though), however I do not get the obsession with Phil Mitchell. He is a one-dimensional spud and adds nothing to the show, just makes the show churn out the same storylines on rotation. I think his character and the obsession with the soap apparently not being the same without him is what is making the soap particularly crap at the moment.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels a bit iffy about Ozark. It is a good show in general, but it's just missing some nice, charismatic characters one even a little bit of humour. It would make the show feel a bit more human. Any slight glimmer of compassion from a character and they just get killed off. It is quite hard to watch a bunch of vile people.

Dancing on ice, Holly wafting around in her ridiculous ballgowns acting like a 7 year old and making it all about her ! Don't get me started on Phil.

I can't really remember what they did with Clara, but agree he seemed to be in the wrong show and was too good for it. I wonder if that's why he didn't stay long. It was when Steven Moffat was showrunning, wasn't it? I don't really rate him and he definitely for this one wrong.

Moffatt did the same thing to Sherlock as he did to Dr Who. I really noticed it because I was watching the two shows at the same time. Both started to rely on these complex plots that were constantly doubling back on themselves, very sentimental stuff about friendship and all of these rather codependent relationships, characters who were knows to be somewhat aloof and hyper-rational who had to get in touch with their feelings and become sentimental and annoying, every episode being about some kind of worldwide existential catastrophe, and characters who were initially just regular people being revealed as super-special individuals with special powers.
IntermittentParps · 14/02/2022 18:06

MangyInseam, totally agree. Sherlock started so well and turned into a bloated nonsense, and I put it down largely to Moffat's ego.
His 'plots' largely involve things that get him off the narrative/logic hook and don't involve any real tension or jeopardy (an early example being Rose in Dr Who existing in some sort of parallel universe rather than just dying and the Doctor having to deal with that).
He teased Sherlock fans about the Sherlock and Molly thing, had his cake and ate it by seeming to bring Moriarty back from the dead; and, in that last episode, it struck me that Moriarty despite being dead got to make an amazing entrance, wear fabulous clothes and cool sunglasses, and generally be an alpha; while Sherlock's sister, although she was meant to be a genius in some ways, was portrayed ultimately as weak and fragile and needing her brother to save her.
Moffat is a misogynist IMO.

I'm not over it yet; can you tell? Grin

I love Miranda and I'm currently rewatching it on iplayer. It is utterly what I call "daft" and intentionally so.

That’s a popular opinion I’d say

OMG I absolutely loathe Holly Willobooby and creepy Phil.
How either of them still have a career in television is beyond me.

colouringindoors · 26/03/2022 22:41

Mrs Brown's Boys is horrific.
Phil and Holly are smug and have passed their sell by date.
Only narcissists/people who'll do Anything to get on tv go on Naked Attraction.

ER is the best medical drama ever.
Matthew Goode as the lawyer Finn in The Good Wife was totally gorgeous.
Matt Smith and Billie Piper were the best Doctor Who and partner by Miles 😄

colouringindoors · 26/03/2022 22:44

aargh David Tennant and Billie Piper!
(Matt Smith close 2nd)

HesterLee · 26/03/2022 23:46

I really struggled to watch the first series of Mad Men and then watched no more.

Agree re Steven Moffat, except for "Blink" which was my favourite New Who episode.

Cannot watch anything with Ant and Dec in - they annoy me too much.
