These are views you have which you think no one else or at least very few others seem to have!

Mine are:

Superstore - I actually loved Jeff and thought he was hilarious. Sort of wanted him to end up with Mateo Blush

Gilmore Girls - hate Logan with a passion. He reminds me of the really arrogant rich kids I went I uni with. Everyone adored him because he was cute!

Friends - I actually liked Rachel and Joey together (no one hit me!) I felt like they brought out a lovely side to each other and actually respected each other.

I should rephrase that as Ross can Be a dick. I think it’s because he was seen as the ‘nice’ guy and obviously he’s not by today’s standards, but he’s still not awful.
My funniest friends moments are all his!

@BiscuitLover3678

Also loads of people think the main guy (Penn something?) is hot in You. I found him so hideous on it! Addictive show though. I also found him not that attractive in gossip girls. No offence to the guy! Plenty of people love him.
Completely agree!!! I didn't actually find it addictive though and gave up part way through season 2. I HAYED the narration!
BiscuitLover3678 · 08/02/2022 16:24

@Mamadothehump ooh it got so good at the end of season 2!

@Sparklingbrook

I persevered with Normal People. You have to look past all the 20 somethings in school uniform in the first episode. it was all so unbelievable though, and there were so many things that didn't make sense. I have no idea how they stretched it to so many episodes either.

I see Conversations with Friends is coming out on TV soon (same author, same director/production team.) I couldn't even finish the book so we'll see.

I liked the tv show Normal People so I read the book, which I thought was very dull. I read conversations with friends recently (not sure why, since I didn’t like reading normal people) and it was similar. I did not care about the characters and just wanted it to end. And why, for the love of god, doesn’t she use bloody speech marks!
Sparklingbrook · 08/02/2022 22:20

The speech marks thing is most odd. I didn’t care about the characters enough reading Conversations with Friends to even finish it.
Might give the to adaptation a whirl in case they have improved it any.

@SinisterBumFacedCat

Matt Smith was the best Doctor Who ever
My friend rewatched Dr Who where Matt Smith was Doctor. First time round, she didn’t rate him at all. Then it was like this lightbulb moment and she suddenly “got” him. So she agrees with you
CuteOrangeElephant · 08/02/2022 22:32

See I have just finished season 5 of Buffy and I think Tara is great!

SuitcaseOfWhine · 08/02/2022 23:00

Trying to get into Ozark, but the characters are just horrible and the plot is really far fetched. It would have been better if some of the characters were nice, even just a little bit.

OhWhyNot · 08/02/2022 23:21

Friends the most overrated show ever. It’s so predictable and was always tedious

Motherland is too try hard

Strictly needs new presenters

To me, the characters and the acting are the best thing about Ozark. Agree that the plot is implausible, but it's nice to see a wide variety of female characters who don't feel tokenistic. Even if few of them are 'nice'.
IcedPurple · 09/02/2022 15:58

I do like her as an actress. I think I would have liked it more if the show had been more subtle and less broad brush with fewer characters verging on caricature, although I will admit I only watched the first season and the first two episodes of the third, so I could absolutely be missing something.

It's very typical Sharon Horgan to me.

Funny, but the humour is quite self-conscious and you can 'see' the jokes, if you get what I mean.

And yes, it's very cynical with the characters, as you say, quite caricaturish and verging on freakish in some cases. Entertaining enough, but somehow lacking in warmth, if that makes any sense.

Tess can go, but I love Claudia. I get the impression she's well liked by the pros, competitors and the judges too.
Sparklingbrook · 09/02/2022 19:01

As long as Tess is replaced that's the main thing. Maybe Vernon could do it? Grin

SantaClawsServiette · 09/02/2022 21:54

Line of Duty didn't make sense.

I agree with pps that Sherlock jumped the shark. Right about the same time as Dr Who as it happens.

Normal people was just soft porn.

Killing Eve was only good for two episodes, the third was dodgy, and then it was shit and increasingly cringey shit.

As far as Succession - I think it's very good but the people can be hard to connect with. Some people like that they are just so awful, but I think the real secret to enjoying it is to realize that it's meant to be watched as if it were a tragedy.

Sparklingbrook · 09/02/2022 21:56

Normal people was just soft porn

They had an 'intimacy coordinator' to make the sex look realistic Grin I wonder what sort of porn people are watching if they thought it was porn though.

Soft porn is just simulated sex where you don't see penetration. But the main point is that it was no real story that it was supposed to support, the story was there to support the naughty bits.

The sex was a massive part of their relationship, the book goes into more detail IIRC. About them being so compatible in that way, but unable to communicate with each other outside the bedroom. I read quite a lot about it when the programme first aired, interviews with the director etc. I do think the sex had a place. People were even saying the first time they had sex was a brilliant lesson in consent and all young people should watch. Shock

SantaClawsServiette · 09/02/2022 23:28

Nah. It was just a racy romance novel.

HeddaGarbled · 09/02/2022 23:56

With abused woman cliches.

Sparklingbrook · 10/02/2022 05:02

The novel isn’t particularly racy’ TBF.

Charley50 · 10/02/2022 05:51

I thought I was alone in not feeling the love for Afterlife.

lollipoprainbow · 10/02/2022 07:34

Agree about Mary Berry I don't buy the sweet old lady act she has very steely eyes !

Holly and Phil are way past their sell by date as are the constant sniggering, giggling and innuendos.

Strictly needs to get rid of awful Claudia in my opinion, nothing at all wrong with Tess she seems to get a lot of stick but don't know why,
she is a polished professional.

Cannot abide Miranda, you will never ever ever be anywhere near as amazing as Victoria wood!!

Sparklingbrook · 10/02/2022 07:37

She reads the autocue well I suppose. But it’s all very wooden. I’d like someone who knew about dancing to host. Instead of someone that just says ‘they’re on their feet!’ and pointing out the obvious the whole time.

JustDanceAddict · 10/02/2022 07:45

I met Mary Berry about 10 years ago, before bake off for massive, and she was really friendly!
