Absolutely loved it!

My list of big house jobs includes 'declutter' in every room so I was hoping to put off doing it be inspired. Loved Stacey Solomon though would have liked more from Ivan on the cleaning.

I don’t think there are episodes of Your Home Made Perfect and Love It or List It that I haven’t seen! YHMP is one of my favourites of all time Grin

Oh I love it too. Just a lot of £££
Think that’s why sort your life out is great as it seems reachable

@Rummikub

Yes that’s true

it was emotional when the mum from last weeks show was going through her wedding album and Stacey said she was jealous that the daughters had that experience :(

Joe should marry her imo. If he's happy enough to father her Dc. She shouldn't have to feel like that

I think Stacey was upset as her parents divorced when she was young. And that she didn’t get to share the same experience of going through her parents wedding album with her mum. I can’t remember now - but did Stacey’s mum throw away the wedding album

@Jellybean81 there are, I follow one on Instagram called the Declutter darling who is based in the midlands but I bet there's others too.

@woodhill. They are engaged and would have married this year if not for covid. Don't be silly.

I've just cleared out my cupboard of shame and put it all in the living room to sort through - inspired by this programme 😂

There was a show on channel 4 called “Life Stripped Bare” a few years ago where they took away literally everything from some adults including their clothes. I remember a naked woman skulking around the streets at night looking for giant leaves to wear Hmm
They then got to collect one possession a day from their storage space for a month.

Good job @Chrysanthemum5.

I really need to get a grip and sort my house. We have a room of doom as well as many stuffed cupboards etc. We need to sort it but it just doesn't happen. I do struggle with throwing DC stuff away and don't always want to throw stuff that could be sold/recycled/donated but that just seems to be a bigger problem than just clearing out.

I'm thinking that I'd be better just hiring a skip and shutting my eyes and just getting rid.

What is so appealing about the programme is that dealing with the stuff you don't doesn't seem to be your problem, they deal with it instead. I'm not really sure what happens with the "sell" pile other than a couple of bits where they've shown people taking a few bits to dealers or having a car boot sale.

That just sounds like a ridiculous premise for a programme unless you are bonkers enough to agree to it

I enjoyed the pilot episode and liked this latest one too, but I wish they had shown a bit more of the changes inside the house afterwards and organising as they put things back. It seemed like all the time was taken up with the family deciding what to keep/get rid of but I'd like to see a bit more of the decorating, storage solutions, tidying hacks, stuff like that.

@Rummikub

I watched a hoarding programme years ago
With an old gentleman in called Mr Trebus. And he’d say to the council people trying to clear his house “don’t touch my things!”
He’s stayed with me too :(

I remember that. It was called Life of Grime. His house is v close to where I now live.

Just had a good old sob at episode 1 and the wedding stuff & lovely daughters (going through a divorce and prementrual 👌🏼) I watched the pilot and loved it. Didn’t recall a cleaning expert. TBH I find him a bit redundant.

But when you see the sheer amount of stuff the average British family has (dreading decluttering here)

Just started on my kids toys (they are all teens). Was about to bag all DS’s Schleich animals for charity when we thought Google them. He has loads. We are going 50/50 on the eBay proceeds 👌🏼

Choked me up a bit as my parents got divorced when I was 9 and my mum destroyed every single wedding photo.

I loved the pilot and the first 2. I really like Stacey and think she was perfect for this show although I really snorted when she made that absolutely terrible photo frame Grin

We don't have much clutter at all as I Marie Kondo'd the shit out of our place a few years ago and love our house now, however, the show inspired me to go and sort out my medications and recipe books- had 2/3s of a box out of date! And endless boxes of paracetamol?! Most of the recipe books I gave away over the weekend on a local Facebook page, I never use them as tend to just use online recipes.

Oh I’m so sorry to hear this:(

I kept thinking what to do with mine and decided to keep it as there’s lots of lovely pics of people no longer with us. My dds are showing no interest in going through the album with me but after watching it on this programme I will try again.

@IncyWinceySpiderWillies I remember that, it was really interesting what they picked and what they figured out they didn't really need at all

I remember this, it was bonkers! I'm not sure what the point was. I think one of them made sandals from clothes rags to wear whilst naked?

She did make sandals from a sheet and a dress I think. Very resourceful and creative.

Pretty sure they were all students?

I watched Fix It Clean It on IPlayer last night, a low budget version of SYLO, with no explanation of where all the clutter actually went.

I remember that woman - I think she worked in textiles/fashion and conveniently had a huge bolt of yellow fabric that she retrieved as her first item. She also had 30 swimming costumes.

I remember this. It was on C4 and I think they massively missed the point of their own programme and just turned a good idea into some sort of weird stag do dare where people ran down the street with their bollocks out to fetch a TV. It was more about people being naked, rather than exploring excessive consumerism. A real waste of a good idea. Much prefer this programme.
