Absolutely loved it!

My list of big house jobs includes 'declutter' in every room so I was hoping to put off doing it be inspired. Loved Stacey Solomon though would have liked more from Ivan on the cleaning.

Yep, I decluttered my bedroom and my kids’ playroom today! So much easier than Marie Kondo - I love that show too but for some reason it made clearing out seem like a much more daunting prospect!

I think it must be being able to spread all your stuff out and seeing what you have

@edgeware

Stacey incredibly likeable. Never seen her in anything else, surprised by how enjoyable she was to watch.

I agree

I laughed when she mentioned skid marks and avengers Grin

So much more real than the terrible mel programme

@Rummikub

I had the life laundry book

Dawna wrote several books and I read them all! This programme and the Nick Knowles one are definitely copies. I did like the family in this episode.

Loved it! I find programmes like this quie motivating. We started a good clear out earlier this year as we want to sell our house but we had ground to a halt. I feel like I want to get on with it again now. In fact I have just listed a few more things on Ebay!

I really like the oldest daughter. She came across so lovely.
And the youngest did make me laugh the way she was chucking everything away

Consumed was the one on Netflix, I've only ever seen the 2nd series, seems to be hard to find it anywhere. On that one, the family stay in the house after they empty it with only the absolute basics of life and no tech, to get them to understand that they can live without things, I think they are allowed 5 "luxury" items that would be things like a board game, a bike or similar.

Consumed sounds great.. can't find it on Netflix though. Sounds like when you move house and you haven't unpacked much yet Grin

Hopefully it comes back on, I think it was Canadian and there was conflict between the various family members, some of which resolved and some didn't. It was mad there was one woman obsessed with tupperware so much that their house was filled with it, mostly unopened in the boxes . All the families were given a square in the warehouse and could only keep what they could fit in it.

Unless there was a series previous to this, it seems to be the one that the UK shows are based on. Very similar concept.

I think the new program was getting grief for copying the nick knowls one but to be fair to him, he did comment that neither were original ideas and plenty of room for both.

Reminds me of the saying by showbiz legend Richard Something who managed Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber along with hundreds of others, 'if there's room for one hamburger stand there's room for two'

The nick knowles version is back Monday 22nd.
Hopefully a double dose of such shows will inspire me to sort my house out.

I quite like it but why did Joe Swash have to be in it especially with nappy style trousers

I’ve been trying to find Consumed for ages - the Tupperware lady has really stayed with me. I tell people about it in the hope that they watched it too and they never have. And when I want them to, it isn’t anywhere to be found! That Tupperware lady, oh my lord, I think about her far too much.

I watched a hoarding programme years ago
With an old gentleman in called Mr Trebus. And he’d say to the council people trying to clear his house “don’t touch my things!”
He’s stayed with me too :(

Loved Stacey's idea if fitting in drawers where the kitchen plinths were tonight. Also loved the carpenter's clever under stairs pull out storage x3.

I get the feeling Stacey knows the families already quite well before they film the actual show. They always refer to her as Stace and are super huggy!

Have to agree about Joe's cameo though. Those trousers 👎Plus I was surprised Stacey referred to him as her boyfriend rather than her partner. Didn't they get married?!?

Report
Rummikub · 11/11/2021 22:07

I thought that too about them being married.
I sis laugh at Stacey’s face though when Joe and B where negotiating price for the cross trainer 😆

Ah I remember him too. When my house starts getting a bit messy I always think "Come on, you don't want to end up like Mr Trebus." Sad

alone he will be gone soon enough.

@notnowdennis

I loved it too and have decided to attack my stuff by type not room - bit of a revelation and feels way more manageable!

Just watched another episode and it made me think I want to carry on sorting. I am thinking of going through my recipe books. Since I want to cook more once may last child leaves home, and want to make every recipe, I am wondering what I am thinking. However, I have 80+ recipe books.

If not them, how are you sorting? I need to clear out so much stuff as kept for the wrong reasons. I end up getting rid of my stuff though as the kids want to keep everything or else I do

I haven't seen Stacey on anything since she was on the X-Factor and she's perfect in this. So warm and friendly. She's a natural.

Just can't get over how much STUFF some people have. As a volunteer in a charity shop though my heart sinks when they pan over the "donate" pile and it's just all chucked in a big heap in no order.
