Absolutely loved it!

My list of big house jobs includes 'declutter' in every room so I was hoping to put off doing it be inspired. Loved Stacey Solomon though would have liked more from Ivan on the cleaning.

I hadn’t known his story

AnimalTheDrummer · 12/11/2021 17:48

Aww Mr Trebus has always stayed with me, really sad.
I loved Sort Your Life too. The first episode was really moving with the lovely mum and daughters. I haven’t seen the second one yet.

ElephantOfRisk · 12/11/2021 20:03
@ElephantOfRisk I am pretty sure Stacey was first.
First in terms of what?

SunshineCake1 · 12/11/2021 21:07

The sorting house program

Rummikub · 12/11/2021 21:19

Stacey’s programme was before nick knowles version? I like them both - prefer Stacey’s energy and warmth.

Meredusoleil · 12/11/2021 21:55

Same here!

Nick Knowles' show aired before Sort your life out but apparently Stacey's pilot went out first. Or so I have read online.

ElephantOfRisk · 12/11/2021 22:10

Neither Nick or Stacey were first is the point. I'm not sure if her pilot was before his series, but Consumed was years ago. It has the same format in that it empties the entire house to a warehouse where they must reduce the contents by half and they do a makeover if the house. There have also been lots of hoarding programmes/cleaning programmes before but none that have the big warehouse so I'd say a different category from these.

Maybe there were others before Consumed, but it's the first I know of.

WellTidy · 12/11/2021 22:17

I really enjoyed Consumed. Exactly like the Stacey programme, but the family stayed living in their home throughout the week long process with ten items of their choice each. So they got used to living with less. I really wish I could watch it again!

IncyWinceySpiderWillies · 12/11/2021 22:23

Consumed sounds good. I’ve only had a quick look but I can’t find anywhere to watch it. Has anyone found it online?

Rummikub · 12/11/2021 22:23

I only have terrestrial tv so haven’t seen or heard of consumed apart from on mn.

Rummikub · 12/11/2021 22:24

Is it american?

WellTidy · 12/11/2021 22:26

I think it’s Canadian. If not, it’s American.

Anoisagusaris · 12/11/2021 22:38

I only saw this week’s one, really good. Stacey seems to have a real knack for this sort of stuff.

There’s a similar Irish show that’s been on the go for a few years now called Home Rescue.

ElephantOfRisk · 12/11/2021 22:42

Consumed is Canadian. The second series was on Netflix a few years ago but isn't currently available (in the UK anyway). I've never been able to find the first series anywhere nor find anywhere to watch the 2nd one again. Sad

It's very disappointing.

Rummikub · 12/11/2021 22:45

I’ve watched a few american home shows on freeview but I prefer the U.K. ones as the houses are smaller and get some great ideas like the understairs storage

WellTidy · 12/11/2021 22:48

Any similar programme recommendations gratefully received! I have two hours to myself tomorrow and watching programmes like this would be a perfect use of that time! I have Amazon prime and Netflix.

ElephantOfRisk · 12/11/2021 22:53

Okay, I've trawled back my Netflix watchlist and I watched consumed in May 2019. It wont play it again but it did allow me to set an alarm for when it comes back again. If it's anytime soon, I'll let you know!Grin

ElephantOfRisk · 12/11/2021 23:00

You might like Filthy House SOS on channel 5?

WellTidy · 12/11/2021 23:06

Thanks! I will give it a go.

ElephantOfRisk · 12/11/2021 23:09

I watch quite a lot of stuff on You Tube. I've got hooked on watching a guy detail cars (also Canadian!) and I find it really relaxing watching him power wash and shampoo carpets!

ExcessiveIyDisorganised · 12/11/2021 23:14

I haven't watched this weeks yet but liked last week's episode so much I watched it again the next day and then spent most of last Sunday decluttering. I have a soft spot for Stacey, I follow her on instagram and I have been dipping in and out of one of her books.

Rummikub · 12/11/2021 23:18

@WellTidy

Don’t know if it’s the sort of thing your looking for but I enjoy love it or list it and your home made perfect.
Less decluttering more gone improvement.

ExcessiveIyDisorganised · 12/11/2021 23:20

Oh and I liked the fact that it was completely non-judgemental, there was a situation, it needed to change, no lectures needed.

Rummikub · 12/11/2021 23:33

Yes that’s true

it was emotional when the mum from last weeks show was going through her wedding album and Stacey said she was jealous that the daughters had that experience :(

Jellybean81 · 13/11/2021 00:22

I really love this concept and I'm inspired to give it a go... but we have so much stuff and I'm exhausted with a baby and young child so feels daunting. Are there companies that would sort us out like Stacy and Nick but without the being on tv bit?
