I thought there were more baddies on board. So someone x gives Jackie the poison before they board. She then slips it in his food. Then kills herself to protect the sub?

All for a PR stunt?

I'm surprised they didn't tie dowden back to port Havers, like he was doing it as revenge for his American long lost twin being killed or something. To not know why he turned was disappointing. I cared more about that than whether poppy got out of her evil grandmother's clutches (although why did she hate Amy so??)

I kind of liked we don't know why he did it. Was he protecting someone higher? Had something happened to him in the Navy / Port Havers? Was he anti-trident all along? Was he just a psycho?

I've read several works about double-agents, e.g. the Cambridge Five, which suggest that power and vanity may be the primary, if unacknowledged, factor in going over to the other side. Double-agents like to feel that they are the cleverest person in the room and get a thrill from outwitting everyone else. I think they could have found a way to make this more explicit in the drama, though.

I'd make a great double agent. People tell me everything. Ten minutes after meeting a fellow holiday maker in the dining room I knew all her gynaecology history and her husband's prostate levels.

Like Esma said above & sometimes people are motivated by 'just because I can' as it gives someone with pyschopathic tendencies a 'rush' a feeling of being alive.

I didn't mind Prentice being gruesomely murdered. Adam James always plays an annoyingly nasty smarmy character who gets away with it so to see his redemption arc end in his brutal murder was vaguely amusing

The only bit of last night I appreciated was the redemption of the captain.

Remember when Prentice said the only way they’d let you sail was to have me on board? Or maybe the only way they’d agree to sail with you was....

By the end he’d made good decisions, the crew were loyal, and he was able to hold his head up once more: he foiled the baddie in the end (by making him fall over(!), the three crew members opted not to leave until everyone else did, and he was able to wish the Coxswain ‘God Speed’.

Adam James does always appear to play smarmy characters. Well he did in Dr.Foster
I didn't know his Mum, Polly, was one of The Liver Birds.

Pretty lacklustre ending, no motive, conclusion or explanation from Dowden, just "no comment", and the cops just go "he's a narcissist, right lets go see the kid", it's as if the writers were itching to catch last orders at the pub before they had to hand in a uni assignment or something, so just wrote a basic none ending.

I watched the finale tonight so just caught with the thread while LO is feeding

I enjoyed the series but I thin there's a lot I wouldn't have understood if not not for you all

What are we watching next?

It felt like a child's essay that started well and was going along the right lines. However pupil then realised he/she had 5 mins left and rushed to write any crap he/she could. Same with line of duty. Both of these shows finales were crap.

I've seen Martin compstons comments on Twitter about them being the biggest shows. Yeah well they would be if they were well written at the start...it's just crappy rushed let's wrap this up quick endings...that are a problem. It's cheating the viewer...

It was the same with Bodyguard. Fantastic start, mixed middle episodes and the end was ridiculous.

And same with LOD

There should have been a flashback of Doward as a child being bullied with by a kid holding a footlong sub sandwich and he was told to stop Russian around all the time by someone in a Silva car. Then he dropped his bag of liquorice torpedos and his mum said he got on her nerves and gave her gas, while listening to Killer by Adamski and In The Navy by Village People. He fell off his chopper bike, banged his head and knocked himself out.

Thus he is subliminally programmed to do the deed and why he answers 'no comment'. He can't really remember.

Anyone else notice the navy guy in the office said bow (as in tie a bow) rather than bow (as in take a bow) when talking about the US ship opening its bow doors?
