I can't wait. Series 1 was absolutely delightful - I'm so looking forward to it and I seem to have developped a crush on Samuel West.

Thanks for the reminder! We've been watching the series 1 reruns - they did such a good job.

Ladyrattles · 16/09/2021 16:29

You superstar, thanks for the reminder

Doomscrolling · 16/09/2021 17:37

Most welcome, @Ladyrattles!

Did both of you watch The Durrells? (Also feathering Callum Woodhouse - this time as hapless younger brother Leslie rather than hapless younger brother Tristan) ACGAS is in the same league of loveliness. I just want to hug everyone.

On second thought, that would be alarming for them.
I’d sit and have a brew with them.

Featuring, not feathering! I really must remember to proofread before posting.

I'm not a huge Keeley Hawes fan so I didn't get hugely into the Durrells (love the books though).

NotMyCat · 16/09/2021 17:42

So excited! I missed the first series and came across it on catch up and binged it in a few days

Ladyrattles · 16/09/2021 17:49

No, not seen the Durrels. I shall add that to my list of things to see :-)

Notonthestairs · 16/09/2021 17:54

Very grateful for the reminder. I will also confess to an unexpected crush on Siegfried Grin

flowerycurtain · 16/09/2021 18:57

I love this but am saving it to watch on Sunday night as I think it's a real Sunday type programme.

5foot5 · 16/09/2021 23:31

Ah well that was lovely! So glad this is back

JaneJeffer · 18/09/2021 01:52

I was confused by the part in Glasgow. Was it implied that James was going to move back for a job?

Maireas · 18/09/2021 16:33

I loved series 1, and have enjoyed the first episode of series 2 as well. The beautiful Yorkshire scenery, the characters, the storylines, such warm tv! It feels authentic as well. James is very much how I imagined him from the books and Siegfried and Tristan are excellent. I would like Mrs Hall as my housekeeper! I know that the family like this adaptation.

Maireas · 18/09/2021 16:35

@JaneJeffer - I think James went to visit his parents and did a locum for a local vet who was his mentor.

Maireas · 18/09/2021 16:36

It is a Sunday night programme!
Maireas · 18/09/2021 16:38

Does anyone remember how it ended with James and Helen at the end of series 1?
I know she walked out on her wedding, but she seemed very cool towards James?

BikeRunSki · 18/09/2021 16:44

@JaneJeffer, James went back to Glasgow to see his folks and do a locum job. He verbally accepted the upcoming job in 6 months time, but gues bsvk to Yorkshire and realised how lovely it is. Pretty sure he has the same realisation about Helen.

Are the actresses who play Helen and Jenny related in real life? They look so alike!!

JaneJeffer · 18/09/2021 16:55

Thanks Bike that's what I thought but it wasn't really made clear or I didn't hear it properly! I did not like the flirty nurse but it would do Helen no harm to be a bit jealous! The sisters are brilliant casting.

Maireas I rewatched recently but forgot about the Christmas episode and now I can't remember why they fell out!

Ginger1982 · 18/09/2021 16:55

I have a bit of a thing for Samuel West too. Hope that woman he was drooling over last series doesn't come back!

Maireas · 18/09/2021 17:01

I agree about the nurse and Helen, Jane!
I really like the clothes and scenery.
Samuel West is so good, isn't he? I think Callum Woodhouse is a good Tristan, and is very likable.

Robin233 · 18/09/2021 17:06

Just found season 2 this morning but have not watched it all yet.
Loved the Durrells.
The actor who played the older brother/ went on to play prince Charles in the Crown was good too.

JaneJeffer · 18/09/2021 17:09

I think Callum Woodhouse is a good Tristan, and is very likable.
Yes I didn't take to him at first because I loved Peter Davison but I've grown to like him.

Bloodypunkrockers · 18/09/2021 18:21

I loved this.

At Christmas, I thought James and Helen walked out of the church together at the end. I didn't understand the coolness

I love James. His eyes, His accent, his gentle hands

ToANewBeginning · 18/09/2021 18:29

I love this - proper snuggly autumn tv!

Helen and James - had a “moment”, she called off the wedding, now she feels angry towards him because she has feelings for him and blames him for the embarrassment of leaving what’s-his-face. Something like that.

Clawdy · 21/09/2021 22:50

Really enjoyed it on catch up tonight, it was lovely seeing all those characters again, and realising I liked most of them! So much grim stuff on at the moment, this was a pleasure.

purpleme12 · 22/09/2021 22:28

Does Jenny call her grandad 'dad'
