Nine Perfect Strangers - same author as Big Little Lies - anyone going to watch?

Starts on Friday on Amazon Prime, with Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy and other well-known names.

Trailer and review makes it sound intriguing and I love the first season of Big Little Lies so I'll definitely be watching!

No one seems to like NK in anything! How on earth is she a success. She irritates the hell out of me in everything.
Loving Melissa and the Insta girl.

Not read the book. Will persevere with the show, but it's not really gripping me. Finding most of them thoroughly annoying and unlikeable.

Read the book; didn't like it though I am generally a Liane fan.
Tried the show; gave up after two episodes. So whiny and self-indulgent and boring. Only liked Melissa M who is reliably twinkly and excellent in everything. I can no longer watch Nicole K after her face butchery. Get distracted by her enormous shiny forehead.

I'm not sure what to think.
Up to episode 3 and really only watched because we had nothing else.
I want it to be a thriller and have a clever twist...but it just seems to be a comedy soap opera.
Some scenes cringy as fuck! -jessica cartwheeling like a pro athlete and the woman leaping over the table to attack lars plus snarling after jess told her to fuck off!
I am not a fan of silly...and that's just how it came over to me.
Master chef back next week...and strictly starting soon! Yay! So will probably come back to this when stuck for anything else.

However like Frances and Tony...watch for them!

I think I am in the minority but I loved the book. Admittedly it was a little far fetched but I enjoyed the originality of it and the broad spectrum of characters. The TV adaptation has a good cast and I have watched the first 3 and really dont whether to bother carrying on - the characters don't come across like they did in the book (apart from Frances!!). Just seems like a really far fetched soap opera gone wrong with very 2D characters and it just seems very silly and actually I didn't get that feeling in the book at all.

I really hated the goat thing. Didn't happen in the book. And Carmen yelling at Lars... And Jess yelling at Carmen....

I have the audiobook and really struggled to get into it and eventually gave up. Surprised to say that I am really enjoying the series and found things became particularly interesting in episodes 3 and 4. Unlike many here I do enjoy Nicole Kidman though. I expect to give the audiobook another try after the series has finished.

Read both books, enjoyed the series of big little lies as it followed closely to the storyline of the book. Didn’t enjoy the book of 9 perfect strangers at all, thought it was all just ridiculous, the characters were like characatures (how do you spell that bloody word!!) so won’t be watching the series!

The book was AWFUL and I love the others.

caricatures and glad it wasn't in the book cos I was thinking I'm sure I don't remember a sacrificial goat
I think that and the outbursts were put in just to flag up to the group they were under the influence. Can't remember how they knew they were drugged in the book...

My OH said she hasn't aged...erm?!?!

She's had a lot of work done but I wouldn't say she's ruined her face. She's still a strikingly beautiful woman.
