Nine Perfect Strangers - same author as Big Little Lies - anyone going to watch?

Starts on Friday on Amazon Prime, with Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy and other well-known names.

Trailer and review makes it sound intriguing and I love the first season of Big Little Lies so I'll definitely be watching!

If the reason they were encouraged to forage was because they were not going to eat until much later, it was doubly tragic for the goat that they didn't even have their "banquet" until after dark......i.e. Later.

I also personally beleived Foraging to be looking for plants, berries, seeds, fruit......

It's interesting lots of other feel this is Liane Moriarty's weakest book. I have read them all and this is actually my favourite of her books by a factor of about 8, although I agree you have to slightly deliberately suspend your disbelief at the weird way people are acting/reacting compared to what would happen in real life. It does feel kind of "out of keeping" with what you usually expect from her books. But I loved it! Agree the last third or so was weaker and I would have preferred a cleverer ending somehow. Anyway I've watched the first 2 episodes now and am loving it! Melissa McCarthy is PERFECT as Frances. I'm not sure about Nicole Kidman playing Marsha, I always thought of her as more like the assassin character from Killing Eve. I bet Jodi Comer would have done a sterling job as Masha actually. But I can see Nicole Kidman is absolutely loving playing her lol! Also agree, why not set the movie in Australia and make the actors speak in Australian accents if that's where it's supposed to be??

I agree that Melissa McCarthy is perfect in this. I don't think that Masha was shot in the book, wasn't it a heart attack she had which makes me think she was middle aged. I guess that doesn't fit in with Nicole Kidman's ethereal waifness.

Disliked the book, and dislike Nicole Kidman in stuff, her face barely moves! But do like Melissa mcC so may watch.

I’ve read the book but don’t remember it completely. I do recall enjoying it but haven’t read any of her others to compare. I’d watched and enjoyed BLL so read her new one.

Just watched the first three episodes. I am enjoying it (as is my husband surprisingly). He finds Tony hilarious. I feel it’s moved more quickly from normal spa stuff to weird things (compared to my memory of the book but I could be wrong) but find it compelling.

I can’t quite remember everything that happened in the book which is making it more enjoyable!

I thought the Lars character was a famous actor in the book? Is that right?

Disliked the book.

Dislike the series even more so, NK is really an irritation, that accent is dreadful, her face even the hair. Not watching pat the first 2 episodes.

Lars was a family/divorce lawyer in the book.

Anyone know which day of the week the new episodes will go up on Amazon?

Just watched it tonight, really enjoyed it. I think NK is ok in it.
I usually hate Melissa McCarthy in things but she's good in this.
I'm boggling at Jessica's teeth though, they're massive!

Not read the book.
So far Nicole seems good fit apart from the watery eye. Off putting. Also her fillers and mouth are distracting. I loved her in The Others but her puffy mouth area is just odd.
I had hoped it would be a bit sci fi Stepford Wivies. Guessing not then.?

I was really disappointed with the book, I thought it was weak. I am enjoying the tv adaption though. I don't usually like Melissa Mccarthy but she is perfect as Frances. I can not watch Nicole though, the plastic surgery/fillers is so distracting and she has no facial expression at all any more, such a shame. I also think she is a bit old to play Masha, in the book she was younger I think and also less ethereal and more white business suit but that is my interpretation though.

Nicole K does seem to have ruined her face sadly 😬

I've given up on it. Might've been better to binge it but I'm losing interest and waiting for episodes makes it worse. Plus NK is dreadful and mis cast imo. They should've made the Anniversary into a series.

I'm pleased you said that! I don't know this actor, but he definitely reminded me of Jeffrey Dean Morgan in Negan mode.

I must be in the minority because I really liked the book. I agree the ending was very odd though. I'm enjoying the series and about to start episode 4. I'd have liked to have got to know some of the characters a bit better by now though and I'm not sure the goat scene was needed or how they changed masha's story to being shot. I can't see what that's adding to the story other than trying to add a bit of drama.

Id like the hypnotists love story and the one with the Mary celest storyline- that was my favourite but I can't remember the title 😅
