@Nith series 1 and 2 are on Netflix. 3 and for on ITV hub

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/04/2021 16:51

Any female who is well known for their own series wouldn’t work IMO

@TooManyAnimals94

Nevermind a new actress...doesn't Fran deserve a promotion? She did pretty much all the legwork in this season 😂 or the chubby guy who's name escapes me...
He reminds me of a younger robber Coltrane

Murray.

And I would prefer it if it wasn't a big star type either - there is a lot of talent out there, and Sanjeev Bhaskar is surely well-enough known to carry the series - he's certainly a good enough actor. Agree it would be nice for him to team up with Fran or Murray.

Preferably Fran, because
a) she's gone the extra mile and deserves that little push up the ladder, and
b) I like her style . . .

Yes - he does have the look of Robbie Coltrane, Blondes

CorCordium · 02/04/2021 19:25

^ and c) the promotion would mean she could buy a better pair of trousers.

PolloDePrimavera · 02/04/2021 21:28

Yes, I'm not dissing Fran, more than happy for her to be Sunny's sidekick. And I like her style too Schadenfreude! We are in the minority though. The team are all gentle, thoughtful people.

I found the whole murder storyline totally confusing and hard to follow throughout.

I was just hoping for a happy ending for Cas.

TwoDrifters2 · 03/04/2021 23:48

I was watching it again tonight with my husband who infuriatingly keeps falling asleep in the episodes and I noticed when Fiona goes to meet Liz outside the police station she says “It’s Fiona. From Hendon” in explanation as if the only reason they know each other is from their training. Surely she’d just say “Hi” and they would know each other from, you know, living together and being in a relationship?!

Nith · 04/04/2021 00:02

I've just been rewatching series 1. Two questions about the last episode:

Firstly, the Trevor Eve character was found hanging in his cell. Do we think it was suicide or revenge by the Wentworths, the criminal gang he was involved with and one of members of whom he had had killed?

Secondly, the Gemma Jones character, who was the murderer but in a home due to dementia, is visited by one of her sons who was previously seen verbally attacking her for keeping quiet about seeing a body get buried. The last shot of her she's leaning forwards with an arm stretched out towards a glass, and her son is ignoring her and walking towards the window. Has he killed her? She does seem to be alive but distressed. Did he deliberately put the glass out of her reach to torment her?

weewitch · 04/04/2021 00:52

I assumed torment @Nith.

SirVixofVixHall · 04/04/2021 13:27

Glass out of reach to be cruel.

IamHyouweegobshite · 04/04/2021 19:15

I have rewatched EPs 1,2 and 3 Fri and sat, watched all of series 4 today. Oh I am so absolutely gutted that Cassie has gone. I loved her as a character, a copper, she's the type of person I would want as a best mate. Cried buckets tonight.

altlife · 05/04/2021 22:45

Was avoiding this thread, had not watched series 4 until all were on the ITV Hub.

Just finished watching and oh my lord I'm bawling.

Cassie!!!! What an ending Sad

Absolutely love this programme. Hope there's another series although I can't imagine it'll be the same without her

MatildaMainly · 06/04/2021 12:32

@Billandben444
I don't want anyone to take over who's bigger than the show. I want someone to creep in apologetically, treat Sunny and Fran and the team with deference and respect and then slowly suck us in until we're totally wowed by how well they've fitted in

Exactly this.

I don't want anyone promoted, I want the team balance to stay as it is, but with a new leader and not a big name who brings too much of themself to the role.

I listened to Sanjeev on a podcast about Line of Duty and it was so funny to hear him telling us what he'd been discussing at home with Meera about it Grin

As a complete aside, I always type Sunny as his character name, which is the ITV spelling and because I assumed it was a play on words nickname for him because of his personality, rather than a shortening of his first name.

MayIDestroyYou · 06/04/2021 12:36

I've just realised we never did hear who that crucial witness was. And am coming round to the opinion that the direction of this story was significantly altered by either covid or NW's wish you leave. Because the number of loose ends is just incomprehensible.

SunsetBeetch · 06/04/2021 15:58

If you need more Nicola Walker, Collateral (a crime thriller in which she plays a vicar) is on Netflix

Nith · 06/04/2021 18:19

Which crucial witness, @MayIDestroyYou?

MayIDestroyYou · 06/04/2021 20:54

Erm ... the anonymous person who saw some or all of the fab five chasing Matthew Walsh. We never found out who that was - and I'd wanted it to be Eileen.

Nith · 06/04/2021 23:47

We didn't need to know who it was, did we? There was no reason why it had to be someone who had any connection to any of the protagonists, I assumed it was essentially a passer-by.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/04/2021 08:33

I still want to know they chopped head hands off. It kept them and body for 30yrs

It’s a constant reminder,

What is a friends pop downstairs to freezer to get something

OP posts:
SydneyCarton · 07/04/2021 17:54

I think maybe Fogarty got as far as chopping off the head and hands and then didn’t know what to do next. He was described as not being too bright and easily led, and if all the others had pretty much scattered and left him to it with no further contact, I can see him panicking and shoving them in the freezer and trying to forget about it. Though it doesn’t explain why after 22 years he took the heads and hands to the storage facility in a separate freezer, since it could still be traced back to him. Maybe he’d become a hoarder what with the alcohol abuse and had some help clearing the house out, and they just took a load of stuff to the lockup without him realising that the smaller freezer had been taken?

cheapskatemum · 07/04/2021 20:47

I'm glad you're all still here. I'm watching Life on Mars & Ram is in Series 2 episode 6. He's a Ugandan Asian immigrant & his brother has just died after being shot. It's about dealing heroin.

Standrewsschool · 07/04/2021 21:11

Did anyone else think that DS Jordon looked like a young Cracker?

AbsolutelyPatsy · 09/04/2021 07:37

Why would they kill her off?
just finished this last night and although it was good, couldnt she just have retired? happily?
