Finally binge watched over the last few days. Cried my eyes out. The final scene in the graveyard where it panned up and out was very similar to the final scene in series 1 with the victims mum finally putting flowers on his grave. 😢

I don’t want Nicola Walker to go, but there have been some great actors mentioned on here, Monica Dolan or Sally Hawkins would be good. Please God not Jodie Whittaker, she has ruined Dr Who for me.

My DH came in when Fiona was confessing everything to her children and asked if I was watching a comedy!

I'm team ABS. Anybody but Suranne.

Ideally, a less well known actress or actor without the baggage of previous big roles. That to me is the entire point of Unforgotten, although NW has been in everything she's so low key.

Totally agree that Fran would be brilliant. She could grow up in the role, like Lewis did in Morse. Then when I'm in the old folks home I can watch repeats of Fran all day.

Although in the Morse analogy, I suppose Cassie is Morse, Sunny is Lewis and Fran is that gangly fucking prick.

Just jumped on to wholeheartedly agree with the Sunni/Fran combo for season 5...actually thought at the end of season 3 it might go in that direction.

If they have to bring in a newbie...Monica Dolan would be amazing, she's vastly underrated and a fabulous actress.

If Suranne Jones pops up, I'm done.

Sadly I used to like Hathaway, so Lewis is a bit spoilt for me by the fact that Fox has turned out to be such a total pillock.

These are the ones I bought parasol base.

These are solid metal but I think you can get ones that you fill with sand or water. I like the look of them too and they've got a handle so you can carry them fairly easily. My umbrella part does does swing a fair amount in the wind without the base shifting at all.

Monica Dolan is an excellent shout.

What about Siobhan Finneran? She’s no-nonsense. Right age. I’ve always enjoyed her in whatever she’s in. But if they’re doing another series of Happy Valley that might rule her out.

There are a lot of us here and I'll bet at least one of us has been wondering about parasol bases.

I'm watching Last Tango for the first time and it must be the only role I've seen Nicola Walker in where she's not pausing mid sentence all with time.

Had to Google Monica Dolan - looks a good fit to me. Or Morven Christie - she seems to have graduated from the same miserable school of acting as NW (and that's not a criticism!). We don't want anyone overtly sexy, high maintenance, 'bigger than the show' or woke - please!

Sophie it's never been done before: it was all a dream and Cassie gets out of the shower... 😶😉 Totally appreciate you may well be too young for this reference.

Having originally cast AMM, I do see she is similar to NW. I am happy to cast Monica Dolan, indeed excellent. I really like Morven Christie but I'm not seeing her here. And I hope poor Suranne isn't on this thread 😶.

Wish I was too young to remember Bobby in the shower Yeah, that works, Series 5 - starts with Sunni in the shower, then we switch across and there's Cassie sat in her office, chewing her pen, and scowling. All is well in the world.
@CongealedCrags Envy you watching Last Tango for the first time...one of my fave ever series, and NW is brilliant in it (my favourite role of hers is Gillian).

If I have to think of someone new to come in (and of course it just can't be Suranne bloody Jones), then I could, at a push, put up with Rosie Marcel being brought in. She was Jac Naylor in Holby, and I think she could fit in well. She's a good actress, does tough and steely well...but I also think they could promote Sunni, and not replace NW at all.

Ooh Monica Dolan is a good fit. Dislike Morven Christie immensely so that would really put me off.

Denise Gough might be an interesting choice.

I like Monica Dolan too. Denise Gough is normally quite glamorous isn't she? Then again, I do recall her in something where she had this bubble perm hairdo and I had to double check it was her.
