I don't want another series. I don't want another actress, especially Suranne bloody Jones. I want it all to have been a bad dream, and for Cassie to come back. Yes, I'm in the denial stage

Having originally cast AMM, I do see she is similar to NW. I am happy to cast Monica Dolan, indeed excellent. I really like Morven Christie but I'm not seeing her here. And I hope poor Suranne isn't on this thread 😶.

Both Siobhan Finneran, Monica Dolan (she was excellent as Rose West) are good suggestions.
So my short list would be Siobhan, Monica, Maxine Peake, Sally Hawkins and if she would do it - Cary Mulligan. I like Anna MM but too close in style to NW

I don't feel like i know Monica Dolan despite the fact I have seen some of the stuff she's been in.

Once we are done working it out we can forward out letter post haste. There will need to be a acceptable and unacceptable list of course

I hope we get some credit for all this help with casting! And big up the Dallas massive!

Ooh Monica Dolan is a good fit. Dislike Morven Christie immensely so that would really put me off.

Morvern Christie wasc slightly less awful than she usually is in The Bay.

Oh I don't think I could cope with Siobhan - think that would be worse than Suranne tbh.

Harriet Walter x 1000. She would ace it. Remember her in Law and Order- she can do cop really well and is, or can be, the same sort of everywoman.

Also find Sally Hawkins too cold and unbelievable, and Jodie Whittaker has absolutely ruined Dr Who I agree.

I did think perhaps Meera Syal would be good- she would have interesting rapport with Sunny. Or Maria Doyle Kennedy (Katherine in the Tudors, and superb in tons of drama).

I thought the stript was awful at times.
Only watched for NW and she was a miserable cow throughout the series lol

In case Suranne Jones reads this and feels rubbish, I should stress I think she's a legend in Gentleman Jack. Scott and Bailey was excellent, and Doctor Watson wasn't her fault.

She was fantastic as the Tardis.

She wasn’t great in Save Me but she was completely miscast so again not her fault.

Love her in Gentleman Jack though!
