Anyone watch this tonight?

Just catching up now, it's the same show as "Your Home Made Perfect" but you guessed it.. a garden makeover this time!

It will be on iplayer to catch up on!

I despair at the growing trend for bringing the inside of the house outside. No.Just no.And totally agree all those lights. An environmental and wildlife disaster.

EventuallyDeleted · 14/02/2021 22:37

I didn't see the first episode but watched the second yesterday in horror for all the same reasons as others here, the poor neighbours and wildlife, all that light, cinema, dart board. If you are going to use the space like that get a garden room. However I also hated the steps in the other plan.

ppeatfruit · 15/02/2021 09:46

coveting I didn't know outdoor cinemas were a 'thing' FGS [shocked] Angry What the effing hell are some people thinking?

TitusPullo · 15/02/2021 09:58

I’ve just caught up on the first two episodes. I actually disagree with you all about the Monkey Puzzle Tree (sorry!). I thought it was in a ridiculous place abs looked bizarre. I may well be wrong but I think it’s very difficult to relocate an established tree like that, otherwise I would have thought they would have just relocated it to round the corner rather than chop it down.

So far I have hated both the male designer’s designs. The Japanese garden was a complete cliche and the second one was just boring. From having a small part of my garden done recently, more than half these budgets will be going on labour, the only reason the low budget ones are low budget is because they are doing all the labour themselves. I think it’s great to see though to give us mere mortals ideas.

'didn't see the first episode but watched the second yesterday in horror for all the same reasons as others here, the poor neighbours and wildlife, all that light, cinema, dart board.'

Yes just a great big tacky eyesore, blighting all that lovely countryside. I bet The Party Man is very unpopular with his poor neighbours.

TitusPullo · 15/02/2021 10:03

@GetOffYourHighHorse - my cousin has an outdoor party garden, I don’t visit. I’d be mortified to be a part of that noise, the poor neighbours.

Also echoing what others have said, they do produce very high maintenance gardens. I do wonder what happens with them once the programme is over

ppeatfruit · 15/02/2021 10:29

I'm actually amazed that the Beeb advocates such an unpleasant, socially and environmentally disastrous idea. When you think about their programmes that show the degradation of the world [shocking] Is anyone on twitter to complain about this programme ? (i'm not btw).

Halsall · 15/02/2021 10:44

Seemed to me that it was essentially a coded cry for help from the wife, who kept saying slightly desperately that she just wanted somewhere to sit quietly and have a coffee, but was totally bulldozed by Party Man.

The garden they had already, if rather bare, was fine for sitting and having a coffee, they had a table and chairs out there. A bit of proper thought and some well-researched garden-centre trips could have resulted in a much nicer result for hugely less than 30k, and the neighbours would have been happier, I'll bet.

I do always find it interesting that they have so many programs that are about being more environmentally friendly and aware about the damage of our planet.. but then they also have programs that completely seem to disregard that ethos.

I always think it's the same with other shows like Interior Design Masters, there must be so much waste from the shows if the designs aren't liked and they all get ripped out / redecorated.

Yes coveting and I know they reuse some of the costumes on Strictly but the lighting etc. seems wasteful to me.

Funnily a couple of years ago this programme majored much more on the contestants reusing and repairing stuff for their interiors. I can't see why they should stop doing so now. It's more important than ever. I'm not sure painting curtains qualifies!!!!

swimlyn · 15/02/2021 16:36

Ha ha. “wanted somewhere to sit quietly and have a coffee…”

My immediate thought was “You’ve just screwed over your neighbours with excess light and noise, and YOU want to sit quietly.” What irony!

Bilgepumper · 16/02/2021 22:43

I’m glad it wasn’t just me, that garden was dreadful. What is it with all those industrial looking structures. I prefer the boys and Charlie, at least you get a garden with plants in it.

ppeatfruit · 17/02/2021 09:46

Yes, me too, 100% Bilge and they reuse old tiles in their gardens etc.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 18/02/2021 20:06

Hello! Anyone watching tonight?

I need to catch up from the beginning of the thread - I've watched the first two episodes 🙂

BlueCowWonders · 18/02/2021 20:07

£60000 budget!!!
Shock

jay55 · 18/02/2021 20:12

My jaw is still on the floor.

unfortunateevents · 18/02/2021 20:13

Watching with interest! Huge budget, they better not go over this week!

BlueCowWonders · 18/02/2021 20:13

But they seem like a really nice couple.
Would be v happy to have them as neighbours as they're not going for outdoor cinema etc

jay55 · 18/02/2021 20:16

I love that it isn't the same designers each week. But ones who are more tailored to what the couples want.

TitusPullo · 18/02/2021 20:17

I love that he is using the tree to make furniture. Fantastic idea.

jay55 · 18/02/2021 20:18

I think I'd worry about neighbours animals drowning with that much water. It is lovely, but you end up with not a lot of useable space.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 18/02/2021 20:18

Oh my word the budget!

This is in my hometown 😁

jay55 · 18/02/2021 20:19

You'll have to go and stalk them.

Maireas · 18/02/2021 20:20

@BlueCowWonders

£60000 budget!!! Shock
My thoughts exactly
TitusPullo · 18/02/2021 20:20

It’s a stunning design but having just spent a lot of money undoing the previous owners penchant for concrete I am very wary of ever doing anything that takes a lot to undo, that water feature would be hell to fill in.
