Having lived in Jersey for 26 years, I’m loving the way the island is being shown but OMG the women are just cringe!

Thoughts anyone?
@diamondsandrose just had a look myself and apparently she set up her company with her husband 25 years ago........that would have made him 15??!!!! So unless she's talking about another ex who must be the dad to the elder two then she's in trouble.
I saw that too ! And a baby at 17! There's no mention of another ex. Something literally doesn't add up Smile

TartanLassie · 05/01/2021 08:49

Ah sorry @ImInStealthMode

diamondsandrose · 05/01/2021 08:50

Agree about the word association game , that was put in to be mean , have to admit I was surprised at her not knowing some of those words though.

And yes I'm sure Jane calls herself "cute" it makes me cringe every time!

As an ex makeup artist sometimes Tessa and poor (lovely) Kate make me want to jump in to the screen !
Mia always looks good she's definitely the most fashion forward

Tessa is so condescending and self righteous,, she can't see past her own nose to see she's a terrible bully . For a "PR guru " who's husband you say is to do with the programme , shes coming off terribly

TartanLassie · 05/01/2021 08:50

He doesn't look 40!! Maybe a misprint?

diamondsandrose · 05/01/2021 08:54

@TartanLassie

He doesn't look 40!! Maybe a misprint?
I thought that too but it's on multiple sites. Also said at 50 her toy boy husband .. "he's a decade younger"

It's clearly wrong though , he does not look 40

Even 55/45 seems wrong , they both look early Fifties I'd say

ememem84 · 05/01/2021 09:03

The more i watch the more my fave out of the whole bunch is Kate.

i didnt realise that Margaret owns the place in the Bay - i thought someone else owned that....

I also did not realise that Margaret and Brian were a couple a few years back. I went to school with Brian's sister, and we used to work together (sister not Brian). I also thought he might be gay.

ImInStealthMode · 05/01/2021 10:27

@ememem84 It staggers me most that Brian is younger than me! He must be 25 years younger than Margaret (she is absolutely not the 47 she claims to be on the show). Go on that Cougar!! Grin

Bloatedandconfused · 05/01/2021 10:41

@TartanLassie that's why I first looked. He's younger than me???? No way. I thought he was in his 50's. I even checked the wording in the article just to see if I'd read it wrong. Saying that, in another part of the article they ask what her husband and kids said when she announced she was going to be in the show. Apparently they all laughed and were shocked. How is that possible when he owns the production company?

Bloatedandconfused · 05/01/2021 10:43

And yeah I had to rewind it when Margaret said she and Brian were once an item. I thought he was gay.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 05/01/2021 10:52

I was excited to see another RH was starting as these are my guilty pleasures. But my goodness The Jersey one is awful, apart from the scenery. Taken over from Cheshire as bottom of the pile IMO.

Brian's early 40's? im 36, and his sister is just 37. i think he's a few years older than her.

but yeah.... i have a feeling that margaret is not 47 as she claims. I think she's mid 50's at least...

Grumpyoldblonde · 05/01/2021 11:19

I tuned in by accident and was immediately hooked. Normally enjoy BH & NY best. I don’t know all the names yet as I only caught the last 20 minutes.

ImInStealthMode · 05/01/2021 11:25

@ememem84 According to some mutual friends that have known him since childhood he's mid-30s, born in 1986! Shock

I don't think he's a bad sort but very involved in himself. I've been introduced to him by mutual friends a number of times, had quite lengthy conversations with him (about him!), but if I run into him outside of that context he's got literally no idea that we've met before.

ImInStealthMode · 05/01/2021 11:26

@ememem84 I have it on reasonably good authority that Margaret is 58!

ah so he's younger than me then.... i thought he was older.

i've met him a couple of times, and the same thing - self involved.

according to LinkedIn, Margaret has over 30 years of real estate experience. so if she is 47, she would have started when she was 17 at oldest. not that its impossible....just unlikely....

TartanLassie · 05/01/2021 12:16

It's Tessa's husband that I was shocked at being 40s. And how do we know he owns the production company? Someone mentioned it earlier but is it def?

Margret is def my favourite.

ememem84 · 05/01/2021 13:49

i've just watched episode 4. the dogs birthday party wtf?

out of all of them Margaret is my least fave and i think she's the most fake. definitely the most trouble stirring

ImInStealthMode · 05/01/2021 13:54

@ememem84 I read somewhere else that Margaret came to the island just before her 18th birthday and worked a number of hospitality jobs before getting into real estate. Definitely doesn't add up to her being 47 if she's been in the trade 'at least' 30 years!

ememem84 · 05/01/2021 13:57

@ImInStealthMode i think she said that on one of her interviews. so like many many people (my mum included) who came here before they were 18 for a summer season and never left!

ImInStealthMode · 05/01/2021 14:00

@ememem84 I was 20 when I arrived for a 4-5 month summer contract at a hotel.

I forgot to go home at the end Blush

An ex-colleague of mine has the best story though. He arrived for an Easter Weekend holiday in the early 70s and is still here Grin

ememem84 · 05/01/2021 14:10

Awesome!

i was born here so no "i never left" stories from me!

i'm wishing for sunnier days though. watching the housewives today has made me long for summer. i am so so cold today. have my ridiculously huge fleecey hoody on (its knee length), and heating on full

TartanLassie · 05/01/2021 14:40

@ememem84 nooooooo how can Margaret be your least favourite?? She's brill! Hahahah

Who's your favourite then?

The show def made me want to visit some time.

When this shitstorm is over!!

ememem84 · 05/01/2021 14:50

@TartanLassie i think Kates my fave (so far).

I think if i had to rank them in order of faves (not that i've put any thought into this at all, i'm much too busy working today....hahahahahah!)

Kate
Mia
Tessa
Hedi
Ashley
Jane
Margaret

On the whole though i do think the whole thing is a car crash, but i know so many people who are watching it. even my mum and dad watched it!

you should absolutely come and visit (but please don't bring covid...we have enough of our own!) its a wonderful place to be. i consider myself extremely lucky to have grown up here and to continue living here. and the housewives are in no way representative of us mere moratals....

OVienna · 05/01/2021 14:59

I liked that the women were older and half had had real jobs/businesses. And shock: weren't all married/mums either! It's a shame they're lying about their ages. Of course they are. I have never seen such ridiculous numbers thrown about.

Tessa's story as told up thread definitely doesn't add up. Funny she's roasting Mia for not being able to keep her powder dry/image clean when she's relaunching 'her brand' as a model. "Sex in a graveyard" should become the new expression for making a mountain out of a molehill.

Also thank you for the context around Gallery magazine. That is hysterical.

And btw - Am I the only one who thinks Tessa's husband's art is HORRIBLE?

All of this said, I'll watch to the end.

OVienna · 05/01/2021 15:00

There's a second series, I heard, too.
