I discovered it today and I can’t stop.

I know it’s drivel but it’s beyond fun and exactly what I needed.

Me! Watched it all evening. Absolutely rubbish plot but great escapism. Will probably polish off the rest over the weekend.

fourquenelles · 25/12/2020 23:36

I've commented on a thread in telly addicts. I binge watched the lot. Magic!

TildaKauskumholm · 25/12/2020 23:55

Gave up after 10 minutes. Awful crap, seems to have been made for the less discerning US viewer.

Merryoldgoat · 26/12/2020 01:16

Happy to wear the mantle of ‘less discerning viewer’ 👍🏽

It was tosh. Fucking loved it.

It’s worth watching for Lord Hastings alone frankly.

Watched ALL of it tonight - loved it, great escapism - good acting

Perfect for Christmas 🎄

Pipandmum · 26/12/2020 02:12

Oh so glad you are enjoying it - we eat late and played games so haven't watched it yet but will start tomorrow!

DramaAlpaca · 26/12/2020 02:34

I'm loving it. Jane Austen it isn't but I don't care. It's great fun.

AwkwardSquad · 26/12/2020 06:28

Haven’t started watching it yet but so looking forward to it. Loved the trailer and I’m in dire need of quality nonsense! Here’s to tosh 🥂

kavalkada · 26/12/2020 06:48

I did. Loved it, every second if it.

And Benedict Bridgerton is the stuff dreams are made off.

Benedict Bridgerton is also hot indeed.

I’m hope there’s a second season - I binged the entire thing yesterday as children were occupied with all of their new stuff.

It truly was a magical day 🤣

I'm enjoying it, it's very tongue in cheek. Have you noticed the music yet? A lot of the dances are modern pop tunes played in a regency style.

I very much admire the Duke, especially in motion, quite the swagger in his walk. Grin I can't tell the difference between the two older Bridgerton sons though. I was getting extremely confused with the whole artist sub-plot until I realised it was a different brother from the one in love with the opera singer.

ginislife · 26/12/2020 11:16

Where will I find it ? Sounds my kind of thing.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 26/12/2020 11:24

ginislife Netflix. It was released yesterday.

I’m suspecting it’s going to be utter tosh, but I highly recommend that everyone watch it immediately because the higher the viewing figures the greater the chance that someone decides to jump on the bandwagon and spend a huge amount on money adapting all of Georgette Heyer.

TerryWoganFanGirl · 26/12/2020 12:17

Yes please to Georgette Heyer adaptations. Love Penelope - hope the series gets recommissioned and we get to her book!

Barmbraic · 26/12/2020 20:01

I'm sitting with a second bottle of champagne and the remote to myself and I completely love Bridgerton. It's so pretty and silly and frivolous. Jolly Cooper meets Georgette Heyer.

And oh my, the Duke .

Barmbraic · 26/12/2020 20:02

Sigh, Jilly. I corrected that 4 times and seems none of them stuck.

Standrewsschool · 26/12/2020 20:04

Jilly Cooper meets Georgette Heyer. I’m in!

SelfIcellation · 26/12/2020 20:05

Silly nonsense. Still watching though.

Oh yes - he’d definitely get me swooning.

Exactly the escapism I needed at the moment, brilliant series.

cherrypie790 · 26/12/2020 21:24

I watched one episode this afternoon.... I then twigged it was a Shonda Rhimes production, which made perfect sense.

It's utter shite, but I feel the need to watch more Grin

A perfect summary.
NoPinkPlease · 26/12/2020 22:02

Binge watched the whole thing today. Utter nonsense, ridiculous escapism and plenty of opportunities to say "well that's not very Austen"**

Ginfordinner · 26/12/2020 23:10

I'm enjoying it. Regé-Jean Page who plays Lord Hastings is so easy on the eye isn't he. He reminds me of Tom Ellis.
