I discovered it today and I can’t stop.

I know it’s drivel but it’s beyond fun and exactly what I needed.

Also, I must say that I love the diverse casting.

Enjoying it immensely, not least for the eye candy Grin

Destinysdaughter · 27/12/2020 01:26

Watched 5 episodes today, loved it! Another one who feels like swooning over the Duke, my God that man is smokin hot!

Needhelp101 · 27/12/2020 01:36

During the boxing scenes in episode 2, I was both simultaneously laughing at the ridiculousness and also drooling at the same time Grin

I spent most of the series both laughing and swooning.

The Prince 🤣🤣🤣

The wisteria on The Bridgerton house is breathtaking.

It's got a bit of baz lurman type style. A bit over the top, and stylistic. Love the music too. (Thought I can't pick the songs... so it's annoying!)

winechateauxjoy · 27/12/2020 08:16

I am saving this to watch and I hope I am not disappointed. Julia Quinn is my guilty (no so guilty!) pleasure. I have all the books and I love the Bridgertons - may favourite in the books is Colin so I hope he matches my expectations on screen.

Andrew2020 · 27/12/2020 09:36

Watched it all yesterday and loved it! Daphne’s dresses are to die for!! Soooo pretty.
The Duke isn’t bad either ;)
I loved the modern music made old as well.
Plus I recognised a lot of Bath in the scenes.
What’s not to like?

AfterSchoolWorry · 27/12/2020 09:38

I tried but I couldn't stay interested.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 27/12/2020 10:01

It's like the Regency version of Gossip Girl.

Destinysdaughter · 27/12/2020 10:04

Found an interview with Rege Jean Page here

I used to live in Bath and spent quite a lot of time during watching shouting out "That's the Royal Crescent! That's the Holbourne!" Etc etc. Luckily I was on my own and not annoying anyone else by being an irritating bastard 😁

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 27/12/2020 10:36

Yes, it's much easier to watch a film if you don't know the area that it's filmed in. When I was living in Berlin there was a film called Run Lola Run and as the title would suggest she did a lot of running around, every time she turned a street corner she would be in a totally different part of Berlin. It definitely distracted my attention from the plot.

ginislife · 27/12/2020 10:49

So I found it on Netflix - thanks for that - and watched all 8 episodes back to back !! Loved it. Bits of it were far too modern for the period but it was good fun. While eating tea my 18 year old was saying "why are they using Billie Eillish music in a period tv series" I wouldn't have known !

Icequeen01 · 27/12/2020 18:36

I'm loving it too and another one who is positively swooning over the Duke of Norfolk. I'm loving all the dresses but what on earth has happened to all the women's bosoms? I know it's the style but they all look as though they have a little tiny sausage of a bosom running across the front of their dresses. I can't stop looking at them!

Aberforthsgoat · 27/12/2020 19:05

Just started watching it and love it. It’s the perfect easy watching trash that I need right now. The colours have a bit of a Wes Anderson feel, I love them. And the modern music in regency style.

And yes the Duke of Hastings is HOT. The swish to that man’s coat... phwoar. Yes, I did just type phwoar.

citycitycity · 27/12/2020 19:14

Is it suitable for a 9-year-old? We watched Poldark and covered her eyes anytime it moved into the bedroom!

winechateauxjoy · 27/12/2020 19:16

So, I am rationing this. I saw the first one and am saving the second until tomorrow. I already know who will end up with who because I have read all of the books, but I am still enjoying it.

cherrypie790 · 27/12/2020 19:23

@citycitycity no def not suitable!! It's quite ... ahem... raunchy in places and features scenes in brothels.

Grin
citycitycity · 27/12/2020 19:33

@cherrypie790 Thank you, glad I checked!

I am on episode four now I think. I can’t stop watching it

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 27/12/2020 21:35

I’m most of the way through episode 1. The reviews had made me expect something borderline unwatchable but it’s not too bad as a set-up episode. The slang is stolen wholesale from Heyer which I don’t mind but she’d have hated - she fought tooth and nail with Barbara Cartland when she did the same. And the frocks and scenery are always worth looking at.
