Our Christmas tree is finally up - we were supposed to be doing it yesterday but we needed new lights. It smells lovely but there are already needles everywhere

Yes! The Tennis cake was on the Bake off re-visited thing, where he 'baked' the net, and it went brown. There were some some very random technicals that year.

Football is causing chaos in out house. One match after the resumption of the season after lockdown - and he was informed on Monday night 2 girls have tested positive for covid. . None of them were really in very close contact, (and they are probably more at risk at school tbh, rather than running round a field miles away from each other outside)- but it's still rubbish.

That's a good article, Magi- must have been difficult for a lot of the kids at the academy this year, many of them were away from home for a long time.

I was going to go and try and get a few bits of Christmas shopping this morning, but DD2 is off again. She has only been back full days this week, but it is a struggle. i think ending up back in hospital last week knocked her back. I'd already written this year off, academically, but I am worried about how much school she is missing. More from a social point of view, she is really losing confidence. .

I think I will find myself a crappy film to watch and eat chocolate.

That was interesting magi. I had to google Padel as I've never heard of it! get the feeling that if Uncle Toni puts rules in place you'd better follow them or else!

The Christmas tree in now inside but still not decorated. DH went up in the loft to get the decorations and discovered we have a leak. Great.

I see Sascha has managed to finally get shot of his old management team. One less thing for him to worry about. He's under the same management as Roger now, of which Roger owns a percentage just in case his hats don't sell.

Thank you Private- she's doing ok. I'm hopingshe might even make a whole week in school- for the final week . They should have finished on the 22nd- they have 'remote work' for the 21/22- can't see much of that getting done!

I did some wrapping yesterday- always have a mental block over wrapping presents. I really don't like doing it, for some reason.

I can't stand wrapping things. I'm useless at it.

I think that's why I hate it, Jane- I always want everything to look good- and end up with tangled up sellotape that usually ends up with bits of my hair in it .

Good work with the Christmas trees - I only realised yesterday that ours had drunk all of its water so I’m hoping it’s going to survive until Christmas Day!

I seem to have been running around like a loon but not really achieving anything - I was hoping for a more low key Christmas this year but it doesn’t seem to be happening!

I also find wrapping quite stressful - especially awkward shaped things - they never really turn out how I want them to

I’ve just hung a wreath on our door and it’s fallen off already! (Bah humbug!)

It looks as if the Australian Open will now start on 8 Feb - that’s a long time to wait for some tennis . Qualifying is likely to take place in Qatar to avoid the need for quarantining. It would be rubbish to lose in the first round of qualifying after 2 weeks if quarantine!

Rafa has made a little video for the ATP and there’s a brief shot of him emerging from the sea in his trunks Daniel Craig style - I had to watch it twice

We’ve got our work Team meeting soon - we’ve got to wear Christmas jumpers and say something positive about this year - I think I’ll struggle with that one and I suppose 10am is too early to start drinking?

Fizzy 10am is definitely too early to be thinking positive thoughts in a Christmas jumper, sober .

I was minding my own business the other day, queuing for petrol, and a bloke reversed into me. I can do without the hassle. It is worse, because was driving a super posh mercedes, and wrote his details on a scorecard from a very exclusive golf club I went to once for a wedding. I drive an ancient yaris . It is not very damaged, but the fact I have to go the rigmarole of hire cars and garages next week, 2 days before Christmas, as well as having to get dd2 to a hospital appointment- well- I don't need it .

I need to hunt down Rafa's video to cheer me up
